im new here but have become addicted!!!! haha i am planning a trip for august/september 2012 but if budgeting goes well maybe 2011 ;)

Whats everyones tips for planning my holiday or any good tips while im out there?

My best planning advice is to read read read!

Trip reports (especially the UK ones) have helped me no end. And I love the Brits Guide to Orlando and Tour Guide Mike.

Another vote for Brits Guide here, for me it's the most useful of guidebooks.

Also just hang around on here and ask as many questions as possible :)

:goodvibes

To be honest I did not know where to start this time last year, I have learned so much on here, much more than any book TBH. Ask any questions, and someone will be able to answer you :goodvibes

Also this is a tip that someone gave me that I frequently use!

If you want to ask a question that you know could have been asked before, then searching is a good idea (you'll get an instant answer rather than waiting for replies)

The DIS search can be iffy at the best of times, but searching the DIS using google is awesome!

Say if you wanted to ask about park hours, put this into google:

site:disboards.com "park hours"

As long as you use the

site:disboards.com

At the start of each search it'll only give you DIS results. Cool huh? I use it loads!

Torsie makes a very good point. I spent years just reading before I ever signed up and it is great info because it is interactive so you get opinions and experiences from all different perspectives. Let's fact it, what works for you may not work for me and vice versa. Searching for past threads has the added advantage that sometimes the topic has been discussed exhaustively and you will get more out of it than starting your own thread. Of course if you can't find what you want or if it is not specific enough, feel free to post. :goodvibes

And last, but not least, WELCOME! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

As a PP said: read!!

The boards are superb, just keep an eye out.
I also like the guidebooks too - the "unofficial guide" is a fave of ours!

Have fun planning :)

Oh yes! I love the UG too! I also subscribe to their website touringplans.com. Well worth the nominal amount of money if you are in the drivers seat for planning, so to speak!!!

I use the unofficial guide website for the busy park hours it has never let me down. It really worth the money and you can use the touring plans too they are excellent

:) Thank you!

Was just checking out the website and it looks pretty good.

Shame my UG is last years - I wonder if any of the pages are the same so I can still get the 50% discount.

Between DIS and UG I have found out pretty much all i need to know. Touring plans.com is really helpful too esp for trying to pre plan ADR's/park days and it doesnt cost much at all.
