Seriously, who do I need to slaughter? Oh wait.....that was my words, and my alarm, so my bad. UGH!!!! Who ever thought of daylight savings needs to be shot. I swear it felt like I had just closed my eyes. They were so sore and burning from the lack of rest. But I got up anyways. Didn't want Stacielee to be waiting long. So up at 6 I was to meet the group in the lobby at 6:40 for the Segway tour. That is AM time in case you all were wondering.
Steph was up just after me. She wasn't planning on doing the Segway tour but wanted to be there for rope drop. We both were able to get ready on time and out the door and were in the lobby at 6:40 sharp. Almost everyone was there. Linda and Breezy got there just after we did. But no Wendy. Where the heck was Wendy? Stacielee gave her a quick call and she said she was on her way. But we knew better. She must have overslept. I said I would wait for her so the others could go and start checking in. Steph waited with me.
Wendy finally showed up in the lobby. And guess what?.....she overslept. No fear, she had Redbull. The three of us head on out and down Harbor. Steph left us to hit up McDonald's before she went to the parks. Wendy and I went straight on to catch up to the rest of the group in front of the "C".
We were the only ones around that early, except for security. Wendy and I head over to the bag check area and prepare to go right on through since we have nothing with us. But we were stopped. We weren't stopped by just anyone, oh no. It was the security nazi. He would not let us through for nothing. He kept saying that he was not allowed to let anyone in until 7:30am or when he got the all clear at that time. Ummmmm, hello. Our tour starts at 7:00am. Nope, no go. We called the rest of our group to see how they made it through. Lucky them, he wasn't out there when they passed the bag check.
No mater what Wendy and I did to try to get him to let us through, he was not budging. It was so frustrating. Finally, Stacielee came over with our tickets and he let us through. But you could tell he still didn't want to. Who knows what he thought her and I were gonna do.
We get to the meeting area and wait for out tour guides to greet us. As we are waiting, two other ladies come up and join the group. They are also taking the tour. And it turns out, that they are DISers as well. What a coincidence don' you think?
Our group consisted of:
Stacie
Callie
Linda
Breezy
Mary Jo
Kelly
Debra
Wendy
Myself
Yeah, we're hot.
And the two other DISers
Before we head out on the tour, we go to a conference room and have some muffins, juice and coffee while they explain about the Segways. We also watch a short video about them and safety. Nothing exciting there.
Finally its time to go out and actually start the training for the Segway. Once out we were given helmets and told to go stand by our Segway, but do not get on them until the trainers are there to help you. Well, one person did not listen and decided they knew more than the trainers. She hopped on and just as fast as she was up, she was down. Splat! She was alright. Wounded pride maybe, but other than that she was fine.
Walking to our Segways.
Start of helmet hair
Before you actually go around the park you go through a bunch of different skills and such first. We had to practice getting on and off the Segway. That was a nightmare for me. I almost called it quits since I couldn't seem to get my body to balance at all. Luckily, I sucked it up and did it. We practiced going forward, turning around, riding over stuff, up and down and incline, stopping, and going under a barrier.
Everyone was able to do all the skills. So then we were off.
Not really sure what I was expecting from the tour. I had hoped there would have been more trivia and facts than what was given. There were a few tidbits that I had not known before. But it seemed a lot of it was look at this, look at that. I did enjoy going into the Redwood Creek Challenge on the Segway. That actually was a lot of fun. We also were given a real quick glimpse of back stage. Not as exciting as I thought that would be.
After we made our way around the entire park, we ended up almost where we started. We stopped in front of the theater for a group pic.
After the pic we went to park our Segways and at that time we received our pins and copies of the group photo. Now we were leaving the park with helmet hair and smiles.
I quickly made my way over to the front of the Tiki room since we were taking a pic of us with our Dole Whips for Bawb. We had a nice turn out and even had a few other DISers surprise us by joining.
At the Tiki Room I met back up with Steph and the two of us proceeded to grab a fast pass and then head out of the parks. We had decided earlier to hit up the Disney Outlet.
Steph was able to find a cute shirt for her DH. I didn't see anything that really was calling my name. So after our quick shopping trip, we went back to the Hojo's. Once back at the hotel, Steph and I decided to do different things. She went back to the parks to have some fun. I went to the room to nap. Lucky for me Steph took my pass with her to grab some fast passes for both of us.
Once in the room alone I was in heaven. I was so tired I wanted to cry. So I put my jammies on, put the do not disturb sign on the door, and climb under the covers. Yes, I meant business with my nap.
Next up.....still napping and drinks at the Cove.
