TGIF ladies!! I hope you are all having a good morning. I am so tired, but for a good reason. My DH Ruben, won the chance yesterday to purchase seats to "Wicked" for only $25 each. The seats ended up being front row. :cool1: We went last night, and had an awesome time!! Great play, great song, great night. :goodvibes But I was up until midnight and had to wake up at 5:30, so I am paying for it now. LOL

I'm sure we'll go again, but it's all going to be up to Jill when and if we go. So, we'll wait until she knows more about what day works best for her. :)

Disney has villains though.... Gotta watch out for some of these ladies.... (cough*Theresa*cough) :rolleyes1

;)

OHHH...I'm getting WICKED tickets next payday!! SOOOO excited!!! We went to NYC for the first time in June & chose NOT to see it there since it was coming to Seattle this fall. We saw Mary Poppins (it was cute) & Newsies (it was FANTASTIC!!) instead! Had a BLAST!!!

I would love to go to company D if you guys do get a chance to go!

I love the Disney villians!!! The first time my daughter did the "which character are you in Belle's library in DCA" I hit the 'I like to eat people for lunch' button & she was the old lady evil queen from Snow White ...she's been teased about it ever since! & I love Malificent ...so I always love when you post & see her in your signature! :)

Ok, I feel like I was too negative!

We did have a wonderful trip and lots of magical moments and wonderful cast members. It's just that I had never had the UNmagical ones before.

Examples of amazing moments:

Ordering Gluten free at Art of Animation: Chef Dan was amazing and made a wonderful pasta dish just for us. When I asked him if we might be able to purchase a loaf of the gluten free bread, because we had forgotten to pack one and forgotten to order one and our little guy who is celiac and diabetec was struggling with getting carbs. He went in the back and packed up a to go carton with gluten free rolls and 1/2 loaf of gluten free bread and brought it back to us and told us to have a great trip and come see him if we needed anything else. I teared up and gave him a big hug. Seriously, it is such a struggle for my friends with just the day to day stuff and having 3 small children, it really meant a lot to have someone go out of their way to make it a little easier.

Concierge at Polynesian: When I messed up the arrival time for our Luau reservation he did everything he could to help me out, get us a different reservation etc. And when that couldn't work he gave my son and I both leis and told us to have a magical evening, and waived the no show fee. Then after I finally met up with the rest of our pary who had arrived at the Luau an hour later, was told they had to go in or pay full price anyhow and then the food server had put their food on the table and it was all cold, they had missed the show and the server was gone for the evening because of the requirement that she leave the floor and they in general just had a horrible experience because I had the time wrong, and then when I went and spoke to the same Concierge and explained what had happened because I just didn't think it was right that they had not gotten the same treatment as I had gotten. He totally agreed, was very apologetic and gave my friends back their meal credits, and even though I hadn't been charged he gave me a credit on my room just because he wanted me to have a wonderful trip. I didn't ask for any of this nor expect it, but it was an act that made the disney difference.

I know that my friends son was thrilled with all of his pin trading moments with the cast members and he was gifted a couple of pins for patiently waiting for his sisters:)

One of my favorite moments: I had ridden the bus to the Art of Animation to give my sister a head set so she could work her last two days. It was midnight before I was headed back to the Bay Lake and I though I had to take the bus to DTD and then transfer to Bay Lake Towers Bus. I was the only one that got on the bus and I asked the driver if I would be able to get a transfer at DTD to Bay Lake and he said yes. Then after we drove for about 5 minutes, he said, OK young lady (I liked that title)...I am going to drive you to the Contempo. YiPPEE! Personal bus taxi at midnight. Does it get any better than that???

Anyhow, I have to say, there were tons and tons of really great interactions and really great moments. And, I wouldn't mind going back with hubby for food and wine or perhaps over the holidays. But for my kids, they are just into rides and if that is all we are doing, then I'd rather do it with less effort. Or perhaps when my youngest is old enough to be off on his own, then we can all do our own thing and get together now and again. But I didn't really enjoy being drug all over the parks to take advantage of the fast passes and get in as many rides as possible. Too much work for me:) And I didn't get to explore enough.

So there you go...Just didn't want to leave a negative taste out there because it was a really great trip.

And my dear friends bought me Sketch Dooney as a thank you for planning the trip! That was an awesome grand finale!

TGIF! I'm so happy it's Friday. This was the loooooooongest week ever!!! Plus I'm excited it's a 3-day weekend. WooHoo!

OKay, first off, I have to say how truly happy I am for you!!

Second, I'm glad you're still down with a beach day! I saw that there is a Ruby's Diner out at the end of Newport Pier. That might be something to keep in mind as a fun place to eat. Just a thought. :) Balboa Island looks like it has some cute places on it as well, although I am not as familiar with those.

Thanks Beth . I'm happy I'm happy too ;).

I'd love to eat at Ruby's on the pier. I haven't been there in forever. I used to go to Balboa all the time when Devin and Adara were younger and it was a fun area to walk around.

But, I won't do the swinging gondolas, sorry.....they are just way too much for me. I don't like to cry while I'm at DL/DCA so I'll skip the Mickey Wheel of Death. LOL

Once I get a dozen drinks in you, I'll get you to do it. Believe me, I thought I'd never go on that sucker again. I haven't rode it since DCA opened. But with many drinks & a little persuasion , my honey was able to talk me into it. Yes I was scared, but it wasn't half bad if you're a little past tipsy ;). I can also hold your hand if you'd like.

Howdy!

Katie - Love the TOT picture! Very happy to hear you had a great adults-only weekend. How were the fireworks? ;) :smokin:

Not sure I'll do the beach day yet. I'll have to think on it. I don't like to shop very much. But I do like to relax, and talk, and eat, and drink. :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

I already told you about the fireworks. They were very magical! Plus there was a sneeze involved so it was extra exciting for him ;).

..... and by "fireworks" she means how were the "special channels" :happytv:

What are you trying to say about Capri??? That she only has one thing on her mind???

TGIF ladies!! I hope you are all having a good morning. I am so tired, but for a good reason. My DH Ruben, won the chance yesterday to purchase seats to "Wicked" for only $25 each. That is so awesome! Plus 5 1/2 hours of sleep is plenty. I only get 4 hours of sleep on weekdays so suck it up ;).

I think there are, but just really jump in and chat with people here too, get to know some peeps. I took my first solo trip several years ago and that was not only my first trip flying by myself (I HATE flying!), I had never met anyone in the group either. I survived (well, mostly ::yes:: ). Other than that shady Betty, everyone is great.

I think you're right about Betty....I would glance over at her a couple times during the trip and she'd have the B*#chest look on her face. What's up with that ;).

This...

The distances between attractions, between parks, to get to transportation, etc.. The distances are just huge. Really ads to the exhaustion, and not as much can be accomplished.

And this...

Bus service:
Very unpredictable. I mean, I got lucky and mostly waited for just a few minutes and then was on my way. But a few times we waited forever and multiple buses went by for other destinations and it was a full 40 minutes before our bus came, and then sometimes it would be a 30 minute ride. Very frustrating when you only need to travel 5 miles.

Is why we will now always get this...

Rental Car! We had one the second week and we really loved it. It was great to buzz around the resort much more quickly in.

We've been to WDW 3 times now. The first two times we only used Disney transportation, which could be very time consuming, crowded, and aggravating (and painful - lol). The last trip we went on, we rented a van, and it made a "world" of difference! It was so much easier, faster, calmer, and less painful to get around. :thumbsup2

It sounds like you had some great down time at the pools and waterparks - YAY! :cool1:

But that grocery delivery bill - YIKES!

Does everything have to be tie dye with you?:lmao:

Don't be silly - sparkle is just fine too :thumbsup2

Drive by hi! :moped:

We're leaving for DL tonight after work. :cool1:

Have fun!!!

Wow, this Betty person sounds really sneaky. Good thing my name is Beth. :smokin:

Depends on who you ask, huh, Betty????

Disney has villains though.... Gotta watch out for some of these ladies.... (cough*Theresa*cough) :rolleyes1

Wow, you better take care of that NASTY cough before the end of September, Betty. Besides, villains have tres fun :hyper:

What are you trying to say about Capri??? That she only has one thing on her mind???

Well, two things really - beer at breakfast and lots of different channels on TV!!!

I think you're right about Betty....I would glance over at her a couple times during the trip and she'd have the B*#chest look on her face. What's up with that ;).

I know, right? She sucks on pickles before going out :rotfl2:

I'll ride it with you too. Heck, I don't even need to be tipsy to ride it. Not saying I won't be. I just don't NEED to be. ;)

I already told you about the fireworks. They were very magical! Plus there was a sneeze involved so it was extra exciting for him ;).

Ooooh, a sneeze?!! Extra exciting for sure! :hyper:

What are you trying to say about Capri??? That she only has one thing on her mind???

It's a gift. :thumbsup2

I think you're right about Betty....I would glance over at her a couple times during the trip and she'd have the B*#chest look on her face. What's up with that ;).

I saw that same look too. I'm pretty sure it was right after she took her first yummy sip of wine.
:smokin:

Ladies, are any of you from the phoenix area? I am trying to see if anyone might be willing to get together for coffee or something here in town. I am just a leeetle scared to take a solo trip when I don't know ANYONE. Cuz I am a wimp like that. :-(

I am in Peoria, and another of us ladies is in Glendale. Send me a PM and we'll definitely have to get together somewhere in between, unless you're ever up this way. BTW, I'm Stacie and other other lady is Heather.

School started here on Wednesday, Kaeleb started 7th grade. I hope it goes well. He has zero attention span and hopefully this year will be better. He has a football meeting today, he was pretty excited about that!
Hi, Deb! Good luck to Kaeleb! The twins are in 7th, too. Where has the time gone?

Did you park hop at all? We were thinking for our first trip we would probably just spend a full day at each park, then go back at the end of the trip to the things we missed/or want to see again. I think it would be easier than trying to park hop.
I've only been to WDW about four times. Not as many as some of the ladies here by far, but when we go, I hate to park hop. It just seems to suck up so much time from the day. :confused3

OHHH...I'm getting WICKED tickets next payday!! SOOOO excited!!!
This needs a "like" button!

And my dear friends bought me Sketch Dooney as a thank you for planning the trip! That was an awesome grand finale!
Aw, how nice of them! And, I'm glad to hear you had your fair share of magical times as well. I figured you did. :)

I think you're right about Betty....I would glance over at her a couple times during the trip and she'd have the B*#chest look on her face. What's up with that ;).
Ah, but I learned from the best...you! ;)

Besides, villains have tres fun :hyper:

UGH...I'm so frustrated today with Disney! We were supposed to get to go to DL the weekend of 10/6, now due to school conflicts (& a retirement party for an owner at work) it looks like we can't go until the weekend of the 20th. Everything is more expensive that weekend. :(

We wanted to do the Halloween party & I just checked & it's $18 MORE that Friday than the 5th AND the cost is the same regardless of being an AP or not... there's not even the slightest discount for an annual passholder... I mean really...can't they at least give a $5 discount. That's so lame. Plus they no longer sell a 6 day park hopper ticket unless you purchase it through a vacation package with Disney.

I'm so discouraged with all of the changes & price increases this year. I'm pretty fortunate in the fact that it's just me & my daughter...I feel so bad for people who have to save so hard for a family of 4-5 or more! It's going to become so impossible for people, other than locals, to go in the future.

Oh Lordie...if you get a dozen drinks and me and then take me on that thing I will be :scared::sick: all over you....neither of us wants THAT! LOL

Busy week here, I think we'll hop over to the parks tonight to unwind. I'm surprised the APs aren't blocked for the holiday, so we'll see how crowded it is tonight :confused3.

I enjoyed our one trip to WDW, which we went with the sole purpose of having DS's first haircut at MK . However, I absolutely despised the bus system for all of the reasons mentioned. Bus after bus went by and none were for our destination. It was like "EPCOT AGAIN???" We did wait a good 45 minutes at times for buses. We ate up so much time just getting around I felt like that really decreased our enjoyment. Next time we will definitely be renting a car. No doubt about that. I also didn't like all of the required pre-planning. If you don't make your reservations 6 months in advance you don't get to sit down to eat? I don't mind doing some trip planning, but hyper-planning everything so far in advance without any flexibility, and as a first-timer basically just guessing which restaurants and resort to go to based on online reviews, really turned me off.

However, it was great seeing some old favorites at MK (Peoplemover, Country Bears, etc.), and all of our character interactions were FANTASTIC. We will absolutely go back (once we bring home DD, she's going ot need a hair cut too!) but definitely getting our own car.

I agree. We have a family of 6!! We went for a few days back in May, but I'm pretty sure that's going to be it for us. My son is 17 and one of my girls is 15 and they are kind of over Disney anyway. They had fun, but they aren't clamoring to go back.

I remember going to the Halloween party when it was still fairly new and it was only around $20 or so per person. Now, depending on the night, it's as much as $69!

I agree. It's kind of strange to plan where you want to eat some random Tuesday for lunch 6 months from now.

Well so much for going to the park to unwind!!! What the h*** was I thinking? So we got DS all excited about going tonight, then when we got over there the traffic was backed up to kingdom come (we only live about 4 miles away). So then we were like okay, we'll go to Knott's, and got DS all excited about Camp Snoopy. Then halfway THERE, DH realized he left his and DS's Knott's passes at home. So, turn around, run into the house, etc, meanwhile DS is chattering about all of the things he wants to ride. Then as we get closer, DH checks his phone--Knott's closes at 8:00 and it's 7:45. :headache:. We had decided to go to the chicken dinner restaurant for dinner, so DH was like well, just drop us off at the gate and then we'll run in and do a ride while you park. Okay, so that's our plan until we get right up there and DH says, "DS, which one ride do you want to ride?" and guess what? DS is fast asleep!!! Oh my lord. We debated just going back home, but we were hungry, so we just parked and unloaded DS and he did well in the restaurant, but it was like what else could go wrong? :rotfl:

The price increases are shocking!

Wanted to reply to your question about hopping. We did not HOP in the way that we do at California, where we may go back and forth several times. But we did sometimes go to a park in the morning, go home for a swim break/rest, then go to a different park in the evening. Sometimes for food, sometimes for a show. It was nice to have that option. Especially when we were at a monorail resort and then after we had the rental car.

HAHA, you reminded me of another favorite moment. My 16 year old asked if he could have his hair cut at MK. I agreed and then it ended up that my youngest got his hair cut and my nephew and my husband! The ladies at the barber shop were awesome and actually gave a great hair cut! Made for some great photos too!

We did do some ADR's but we also ended up just walking up to a few places and getting in. Our last night we had two meal credits left and at 8 oclock I walked up to Crystal Palace and asked if we could get in. The lady told me no, they were booked solid and I had best settle for counter service. Then a nice lady in the booth behind her looked at her screen and said she could fit us in, no problem! It was awesome! When we got done eating we walked out onto the porch right as the fireworks went off and had a great view without waiting or fighting for a spot. It was wonderful!

Oh Dear! Quite the night. Traffic can be such a nightmare! At least you can have a do over easily enough, right:)

Beth that is awesome that you got to go to Wicked! Mom and I took the girls in June and we loved it!!

I am another that thinks having a car in DW is the way to go. We have always had a timeshare so we had to have one but it is SO much more convenient and makes it nicer. I do also agree that the ADRS are kind of a pain but we usually just make as many as we can and then figure if we are not hungry or don't want to go we can always cancel.

Shelby that is a bummer about last night but not surprised with the 1/2 this weekend as well as it being labor day. I'm sure it is prob packed! Sorry your night was a bust.

Good luck to all our running divas!! SOOO jealous and want to do this so bad. Have been looking at the pics on FB and looks so fun! REALLY hoping it works out that we can do the tinkerbell one in 14 and hope to do this one some day as well!

We are off here in a bit to Katy's first football game. I have to volunteer in the snack bar first and then I get to watch her cheer. First time she will be wearing her cheer uniform and get to see a full game with the half time show etc so looking forward to that!

Hope everyone is out having a fun holiday weekend!!

HELLO, ladies!!!! I'm back!!!

Hello, Kit!! So glad this is the year you'll finally be able to join in the fun!! It's about time! LOL ;)
I'll add you to the attendee list, and if you'd like you can post a photo for the front page as well.

Where in NV does your sister live? I'm in Las Vegas.

I'm back!! I missed you all so much. It was a fun get away, but I missed my Divas! :yay:

My sister lives in Minden, just south of Carson City. My mom is in an assisted care facility in Gardnerville (next door to Minden). Just got back from a visit. Visiting my mom is always an emotional roller coaster as she does not recognize me at times. All in all though, this was a good visit!

Will anyone be around the park October 5-9??? I'm 90% sure my daughter & i will be coming down then. I cannot wait to see the Halloween stuff again! It's been a few years!!

We're still undecided if we'll do the halloween trick or treat tickets though. We did it a couple of times at DCA, but have not done it at DL. Daughter said she didn't think we needed to, but wondering if it's better now that it's at DL. Do they close the park to people without those tickets? Seems lame to have to pay $50 as a Premium Annual passholder :(

Feedback welcome! :)

I will be at the parks October 3-6 and will be going to Halloween party on October 5. I cant help laughing about this trip becuse it started out as a solo trip to cheer me up after my DD heads off to college (Uof Oregon) this fall and I am left with an empty nest. It has now become a gathering of 8 family members (daughters grandkids, sister and cousin). I love Halloweentime and havent been since 2009. Cant wait to see Halloween Screams again. Let me know if you want to meet up for a dole whip or something.

Helllllllooooooo Divas! How's it going? I know, I know...I have been MIA from here for forever! I just want to go with you so much and know that is just not a possibility this year so I have been staying away for my own sanity! Anyway, does anyone here remember the LPF? Well, it's time to have one in the Pacific Northwest! Calling all interested Divas! I am having a movie marathon/sleepover at my house in Lynden, WA either October 27th or November 17th depending on the schedules of those interested in attending! Kandace from the Seattle area is helping me plan the event! More details will be forthcoming, for now I am just trying to figure out who all would like to come and which of those dates would work for you! So facebook me or pm me here and lets get this party started!

Hope all the rest of you divas are fantastic!

TTYL,
Sarah May

Sounds like fun! I can't do it in October but if you choose the November date- count me in!

Oh boy, I've missed a lot again! Over the last couple of weeks I took my kid and cats to Seattle to stay with my parents, packed my 3 bedroom house into storage and my personal stuff into the back of my pickup and left home! I'm in Portland now, decided to split the drive into 2 days as the truck is old and I get tired. So glad I did, my right leg was so cramped up by the time I got here last night it wasn't even funny. That truck is not meant for long drives. I'm about to pop in the shower and get back on the road north to Bothell.

I skimmed a little bit of the posts and saw that someone went to see Wicked! I'm so excited to see that. I'm going to MWR at Bremerton next week to see if they have discounted tickets. We're going either way, but a military discount would be nice.

I'm planning kid #1s birthday trip again, she's decided that she does want to go to Disneyland after all. And a few days after her birthday a friend is getting married in that area, so we're going to combine the trip, I think. We have some shopping to do, because the wedding is a steampunk themed costume party.

Lots to do!

Good morning, ladies! :sunny: Happy Saturday!
We survived the first week of school here, but not without one of the kids coming down with a cold. Guess it's the season for germs! I just hope it doesn't make the rounds through all six of us....it usually does though despite my best efforts.

Anyway, I am in the mood for Halloween, so we are heading out to a huge store here in Vegas that sells costumes and decor year round. I can't wait for it to be October already.

Have a great weekend, everyone! And best of luck to all our Divas running the marathons this weekend!! :cheer2:

Heather, I've been following your move on Facebook. It's a lot of work, isn't it?! :faint: Good luck. Oh, and that was me who went to "Wicked". It was awesome, you're going to love it.

Tracey, sounds like that dinner at Crystal Palace was really nice. Especially the fireworks. :wizard:

Shelby, sorry your night didn't go as planned! This is a really busy weekend at DL. Knott's chicken dinner is delicious though, so at least that part was good. :)

Kit, sorry to hear visits with your mom can be a roller coaster. That's so rough. :( But, I'm glad this was a good visit overall. As for the Diva get together, I do believe it has been planned for November. Are you on Facebook at all?

Kelly, I hope Katy has a great time cheering at her game today.
