Oooooh, purple is the best - the only way it would be better would be tie dye :hippie:

Blech! Now, I'm feeling a little ill.

:p

Lisa, love the tiara!! Now, we have to work on finding out when and where to wear them. I'm still hoping the pincesses can be found somewhere on property to take a pic with. If not for a big group photo, at least for those interested.

Ladies, are any of you from the phoenix area? I am trying to see if anyone might be willing to get together for coffee or something here in town. I am just a leeetle scared to take a solo trip when I don't know ANYONE. Cuz I am a wimp like that. :-(

I think there are, but just really jump in and chat with people here too, get to know some peeps. I took my first solo trip several years ago and that was not only my first trip flying by myself (I HATE flying!), I had never met anyone in the group either. I survived (well, mostly ::yes:: ). Other than that shady Betty, everyone is great.

This will be my first solo trip too. I am a little nervous, especially about flying alone and getting to the parks from the airport, but I am almost 32 years old. I think I should be able to handle it....I hope!

The only one I have really talked to a whole bunch is Jessica, and she might not be able to come, so I am a little nervous about not knowing anyone, but also really excited for the opportunity she might be getting!

I felt like that too, but I've been lucky enough to be able to meet a few of the Diva's on recent trips so I'm feeling much more comfortable now. :) I better, since I'm sharing a room with like 4 of them...LOL Seriously, just jump in here and start chatting, everyone is so friendly it's really easy to make friends. :)

I'm may going alone too & I had never met anyone...I met Kandace at the Mouse Meet earlier this month. I figure it's Disney people....they can't be that bad! :)

Andrea, how far into Canada are you? One of the diva's is hosting a movie evening at her house this fall in Lynden, WA...I think I'm going so I could meet some more divas & I only know Kandace, who I met once earlier this month...maybe you could come down for that & meet some people? ....OH...and you're the one that I may end up rooming with if we both don't have friends coming! hehehehe :)

I'm mostly excited to make some girl friends! I got too wrapped up in my daughters life & now that she's a senior & has a boyfriend....well... I need friends! :)

I am not too far into Canada, but I am quite a ways from there. I am about 6 hours from the Montana border, which would be do-able, but it's about a 12 or 13 hour drive to Lynden (according to google maps), so it's a little far for me. Sounds like it would be fun though! And it would be nice to meet my roommate before we are roommates, but not sure we can make that happen! Lol.

Hello Ladies!

Wow! I know I have missed a lot and will try to read back. I did catch a page or two here and there over the last 3 weeks or so...

I don't know if I have ever said so, but Dear Debbie and Jill, I am so sorry for the loss of your Moms. So sad for you...

Jessica, happy for your opportunity. What fun!

Beth, welcome back!

All the new ladies...Hey there! Welcome! Don't be afraid:)

Here is my very brief recap and review of our 2 week DW trip.

Over all: Won't need to go back. Felt like I did was at getting the same experience as at Disneyland, but working 10 times harder to get it. For the overall park experience anyhow.

What I hated: The mix of people. Very rude people. One lady actually looked at me and said, hey, it is everyone for themselves here, when we were at the lazy river trying to get tubes for the family, and we had waited for our turn. (yes, I admit it, I shoved her out of the way to get my tube, when the time came. I learn quick!:rotfl:) I just never saw guests pixie dusting each other at all! Maybe it was the heat, but in general the guests were pretty much self focused.

Lots of cast members with no sense of magic or humour. They were just there, processing the masses. Really?? I mean if you hate your job, I am pretty sure the pay is not that great. Why would you be there?? I have not ran into this same attitude at DL. Ever! And there were a ton of them that didn't have a darn clue as to how to get around the world and would give you completly wrong answers to your questions. I knew enough to recognize when they were wrong and it was frustrating. I learned to just keep asking until I got someone that actually knew. It would be so much better if they would just say I don't know. (some of them did)

The distances between attractions, between parks, to get to transportation, etc.. The distances are just huge. Really ads to the exhaustion, and not as much can be accomplished.

What was ok:
The food. Seriously...nothing rocked my world. And we tried a fair amount. I would give kudos to Wolf Gang Puck Express for quanitity and value. The salmon was fabulous there. Everything else was pretty good. The icecream cookie sandwich at the bakery was pretty darn good, as was the cinnamon roll. Le Chefs steak and also the mac and cheese were great. And the steak from The Turf at Saratoga Springs and also from The Mexican place at Epcot were great. Le Cellier failed to impress as did 50's prime time. Also ate at Askerhus, Tusker House and Crystal Palace all of which were great experiences but food was pretty typical.

Bus service:
Very unpredictable. I mean, I got lucky and mostly waited for just a few minutes and then was on my way. But a few times we waited forever and multiple buses went by for other destinations and it was a full 40 minutes before our bus came, and then sometimes it would be a 30 minute ride. Very frustrating when you only need to travel 5 miles.

What I loved:
The resorts! Seriously, what a great experience. Loved staying at Bay Lake and being on the monorail was wonderful. The view was lovely of the lake and we enjoyed watching the parasailing and the electric water pageant from our room. The pool was close and easy to get to and we spent hours in it nearly every day. The kids enjoyed the activities and the campfire and roasting marshmellows. Both of my kids went parasailing and it was a highlight of the trip. My youngest said he would have traded a whole week at any park, just to go again. The value of being close to both MK and Epcot should not be overlooked. We also loved taking the boat to Wilderness Lodge and then to Fort Wilderness for our dining experiences. This was the most relaxing part of our vacation because the transportion was so easy and we had a lot more time to hang at resort and relax. Also the multiple decks off of unit with view added to that relaxing experience.

Saratoga Springs: We loved this resort too, and had a great location with equal walking distance to either the Paddock Pool or the Springs Pool. We used both of them and loved the poolside grill at Paddock. The unit itself only had a small deck off of the living room and it didn't feel private as you could see all your fellow resort guests more than a view, as we were on the side of a u shaped building. Loved the trees and the trails along the lakes etc. Was great to get to DTD quickly from there. But it pretty much sucked for busing as it was pretty unpredictable. My friends who had strollers hated it!

Rental Car! We had one the second week and we really loved it. It was great to buzz around the resort much more quickly in. We had the diamond pass and it was great to park close, or if it wasn't closer the cast members directed us to where to park. We also enjoyed being able to run to the grocery store, the outlet store etc... My husband says he would have enjoyed having it at Baylake too.

Grocery delivery: We ended up using wegoshop and our bill was $430!! I was shocked actually. delivery and tip was about $70. There was some stuff on our list that ended up being ridiculously priced and I wouldn't have bought it had I seen the price. But with their system you don't know how much anything will be. We could have had a rental car for the week for $100, and I think we would have done better that way. Then we could have shopped the sales and bought what we wanted as we needed it, and not had substitutions made that we would not have made, etc. Overall, we still saved a lot of money having groceries delivered, and it was for 9 people.

Weather: I loved the temps and I loved the humidity. Yes, it got hot at the parks at midday. But it forced us to go slow and take pool breaks and we loved them.

Waterparks: Amazing and really fun. Probably enjoyed these as much or more than other parks.

Fantasmic: LOVED it! Seriously great show. I missed the big river boat, but loved sitting on a bench.

Nemo, Beauty and the Beast, Lion King productions: Really great shows!

Rock N Roll roller coaster. wow!

Expedition Everest. wow!

Loved the mosaic in the Castle. Absolutely Gorgeous!

Could have spent more time at Animal Kingdom and Disney Hollywood Studios just looking around. The theming is amazing and I would have liked to absorb a bit more of that.

Wow, guess that was nearly a full trip report!

Lisa, I do have a full set of maps for you. Just pm me your address. I came home on the 27th, and am still unpacking!

Talk to ya all real soon!

Tracey

Tracey I am sorry you had some bad experiences. I think part of the problem may have been the time of year. I know summer is not only horribly hot but also probably super crowded. Our first trip was in May and that was hot enough for me. We have since gone in Oct, Nov and Dec and I MUCH prefer that time of year. The weather is better and the crowds are non-existent if you go at the right time.

We love it there but being from CA DL is still my fav. I love the memory part of it as it was the first park I went to and the one I went to during my childhood. I didn't do the world till I was in my 30's. We still LOVE To go but it is more of a "vacation" with the pool and relax time then dl where we do a lot more park time.

Trudi I agree are they doing the Co D thing? I STILL have not gone and really want to. I hope it works out that it is on a day or time that I am able to go. Been dieing to do that one!! :)

TGIF ladies!! I hope you are all having a good morning. I am so tired, but for a good reason. My DH Ruben, won the chance yesterday to purchase seats to "Wicked" for only $25 each. The seats ended up being front row. :cool1: We went last night, and had an awesome time!! Great play, great song, great night. :goodvibes But I was up until midnight and had to wake up at 5:30, so I am paying for it now. LOL

Aww, don't be scared. It's a great group, really. And, you aren't the only new lady. We have several newbies this year. Just keep posting and before you know it, you will feel like you know everyone. :)

Other than that shady Betty, everyone is great.
Wow, this Betty person sounds really sneaky. Good thing my name is Beth. :smokin:

You'll be fine!! I'm so glad you are coming with us. As for Jessica, I'm hoping it all works out for her. :wizard:

Speaking of Company D ::yes:: what would be a good day to go? That is practically the highlight of the whole trip for me.:rotfl:
I'm sure we'll go again, but it's all going to be up to Jill when and if we go. So, we'll wait until she knows more about what day works best for her. :)

I figure it's Disney people....they can't be that bad! :)
Disney has villains though.... Gotta watch out for some of these ladies.... (cough*Theresa*cough) :rolleyes1

;)

Tracey
Welcome back, Tracey! :goodvibes Thanks for sharing your experiences. It's always different for everyone. I agree, the resorts are amazing.

Deb I am sorry to hear about your mom. My condolences to you!

Thanks, Kelly.

Deb, I did not know about your Mom. :guilty: I am so terribly sorry to hear about your loss. My heart goes out to you.
My prayers are with you.
Take care and big hugs, Mel:hug:

Thanks, Mel

Hello everyone! :yay:

Wow, I haven't been here in a while. Guess I've been Facebooking too much and not Disboarding enough. ;)

Our kids start school next Tuesday. I still need to get their school supplies, but I think they're ready other than that. Ryan is going to the middle school's 7th grader open house this Weds and he is very excited. He'll get his class schedule, locker assignment and combo, and be able to tour the school to find all of his classes. He'll also be able to practice opening his locker. Crossing fingers he'll be able to do it so we don't have to get him a keyed lock. He hates anything that makes him "different" than everyone else. Frankly, I'm glad he cares about stuff like that. It's normal, you know? :thumbsup2

Ryan is also back on Ensure Plus. Poor kid is just so thin and underweight. I don't understand why. He eats a lot. Maybe his body just isn't able to retain the fat/nutrients from the food he eats? :confused3

Hating that summer is ending. We weren't able to go boating/camping on Lake Roosevelt or Upper Priest Lake like we had planned. Ran out of time...well basically Justin's work schedule got in the way - haha! Oh well, next year I guess.

Hoping to make it to Sarah's Sleepover! I think it will be a lot of fun! And if Deb can go, I can swing by and pick her up on the way. Girls road trip! :woohoo:

I hope the first day went well for the kiddos. Kaeleb had to take that plus Carnation breakfast something, and high fatty foods to gain wt when his meds helped him lose a lot of wt. School started here on Wednesday, Kaeleb started 7th grade. I hope it goes well. He has zero attention span and hopefully this year will be better. He has a football meeting today, he was pretty excited about that!

Of, course I will go! I will be up and waiting for you to arrive that day!

Sorry you had a bad experience at first. OUCH! that is a lot of money for food!

Oh man...you are not the first person that I've heard this from about the "magic" not being there! I have never been & we are supposed to go for our first time next June after my daughter graduates from high school. (due to crowds maybe I'll push it to the beginning of Sept, depending when she starts school).

It's funny I hear such MIXED reviews about WDW & it's hard not to feel nervous about going! My plan is to have no expectations (hehe) & just go with the flow the best we can. I have such a love of Disneyland...it will be hard if we don't feel the magic.

We are not planning to rent a car so hopefully we will be able to get around ok. Bummer about waiting so long for buses.

Did you park hop at all? We were thinking for our first trip we would probably just spend a full day at each park, then go back at the end of the trip to the things we missed/or want to see again. I think it would be easier than trying to park hop.

Glad you had a good time at your resorts & with your family though!!! :)
