DIS Dads in December - Let the Party Bus Roll!

Hi Gentlemen, I thought I would share that the Wishes Dessert Party (formerly booking only through August) is now taking bookings through December 29th. This might be a good place to meet up. :cake:

What is a wishes desert party? I am not familiar with this!

Do they do this every night or just on certain nights?

I would think that every night they have Wishes, they'll offer the party. (They don't do Wishes on nights that have MVMCP) Last I heard, there were different prices for different "prime" dates. You'll have to call 407-WDW-DINE to make sure.

Do they do this every night or just on certain nights?

I just talked with Disney Dining and they said it was on select nights. The web site said "The party begins one hour prior to the start of Wishes Nighttime Spectacular." So, I'm thinking it will be most night that isn't a MVMCP night. Oh yea, prices are 21.99 per adult and 11.99 per child.

Tickets have been purchased for Thursday, Dec 9's Christmas Party. Anyone else going that night?

So okay - perhaps I've missed it - but what's everyone doing on Sunday evening the 5th, or on Tuesday the 7th?

I've now set up a meet with my Groupie buddies for Monday the 6th, two meets actually. Breakfast at Whispering Canyon Cafe with some of them, and then another meet after lunch with multiple others at the Lodge.

Other than that 8 am - probably 3 pm time frame on Monday - I've got time available.

I'll be landing around 10:30 am on Sunday...so by the time I get over to AKV and checked in...figure about noon-1:00ish. I could meet up with folks Sunday afternoon or evening / Monday evening or throughout Tuesday. I don't mind if it's in a park, at a resort or not. I know you all have your families to think about as well, and I certainly don't mean to take a lot of your time away from them... but definitely getting to meet a few of you would be great. Of course I want to enjoy the parks as well during my stay - so don't worry if it doesn't work out. I'm cool with whatever happens.

I will be missing you by just a matter of an hour or so!

My inexperience is showing...:guilty:
I've been dragging my feet with the ADRs trying to wait for some clarity regarding some friends and family that may be at WDW the same time we are. Well, while I was patiently waiting and trying to accomodate everyone, a whole bunch of the restaurants I wanted to hit have filled up. There are no Chef Mickey's spots left unless I want to eat dinner around 8pm or breakfast at 7am- literally before the sun comes up. So for our character meal, we're having dinner at 1900 PF. Not bad, but we all would have preferred the fab 5 at CM over Cinderella's dysfuntional family.:rotfl:Whispering Canyon Cafe was better but not by much. I'm getting in there for dinner one night but it's at 6:45 - much later than I would have liked.

Oh well, live and learn. :) Next time all the stragglers can fend for themselves and I'll be making the ADR's at the 180-day mark. I looked back and saw when some of you guys made your ADR's. It was around the beginning of June. What a difference 5-6 weeks make.

For kicks, I'll put the rest of my ADR's up here shortly.

And here they are along with our itinerary for the week:

Fri, Dec 3: arrival, MK, no ADRs
Sat, Dec 4: Cape May Cafe 7:50am, AK
Sun, Dec 5: Epcot, Whispering Canyon Cafe 6:45 pm
Mon, Dec 6: Cap May Cafe 8:05am, DHS
Tues, Dec 7: Chef Mickey's 10:15 am, MK, Raglan Road 6:00pm
Weds, Dec 8: MK, 1900 Park Fare 4:45pm
Thurs, Dec 9: Epcot, Teppan Edo 4:30pm
Fri, Dec 10: Depart

Chef Mickey's and one of the Cape May ressies will probably be cancelled. As for MVMCP on the 9th, I'm doubtful. For our kids first visit, there's plenty to see and do without having to tack on the party. I'm sure it would be fun, but I don't know if it's $200+ fun. But who knows- if I get a bunch of tutoring money (I tutor SAT prep for fun money) maybe we'll splurge. And we haven't decided if we're flying or driving. So an early departure on 12/10 would rule out the Christmas party.

- Try to do MVMCP the same night or maybe Osborn lights
- Group photo with Santa Goofy
- Try to be in a parade with Dis Dads as Grand Marrshalls
- Dis Dads open a park ( rope drop & hope we get picked)
- Dis Dads group photo with the Mayor of Disney & group ride on a horse drawn trolly ( or other vehicle with Dapper Dons)

This is where the events are at this point, most issues are where & time:scared1:

- Santa Goofy, shows up after Thanksgiving, have not heard anything on location or time. Think he was in DTD last year but I'm not sure, if anyone hears anything on him let us know. This should be a easy one to do:woohoo:

- MVMCP or Osborn lights, For the MVMCP it depends on who has tickets to what date I think Dave has tics for 12/5, Barry & Myself have tics for 12/9, so with 2 dates going, anyone who goes to
the MVMCP on one of those dates can meet up:cool1:
- Osbourn Lights, HS has p.m. EMH's on the 5th till 11pm , If you are not going to MVMCP that night and have a AP or PH this could be a good night to catch them as a group:confused3

- Rope Drop (see if we can get picked to open a park)
Now do we want to do a EMH opening or a Reg opening:confused3
For am EMH they have
Dec 6 -AK
Dec7 - Epcot
Dec9- MK

If we did AK it is most likely not as crowded as the other parks and almost all the dad's will be at WDW at that time:banana:

If we did EMH at MK, some of the dad's will be gone by then, but we would be able to get pics with the Mayor, ride the vehicles hopefully with the Dapper Dan's on one of them, at the same time:confused3

Or we could do a regular time rope drop at whatever park:confused3

- Grand Marshalls- Going to have to go out of the box on this one, since we are not going to get any info on this from CM's on the phone. Hopefully someone will give us some usefull info and it all pan's out:confused3:woohoo::goodvibes

If anyone knows what will work for them or have suggestions on events please post them, lets see if we can get something (at least 1or 2)set on stone soon:woohoo:

Add me to the list!!

We'll be at WDW this Dec:hippie: I'll be there from Dec 10 to 18 and will be staying at both AKV and BLT. This will be our 2nd trip kid free. Last time we went we did Halloween back in 2007:wizard: This year her brest friend from high school wanted to join us and we got 1Br DVC Villa's so we have the master bedroom and she will have the queen sized sleeper sofa. She has never been to WDW. We have been there 5 trip and 2 DCL cruises since 2003. Earlier this year we joined DVC (wish we joined sooner) :thumbsup2

Most of our friends keep asking "why do you keep going to boring WDW every year?" same answer everytime. WE LOVE IT!!

Adults only and KID FREE:woohoo:

Now time to read!!

Are you at Kidani or Jambo? I think there are a few of us staying at AKV that might overlap with your trip!

Not sure if I mentioned it or not, but I canceled out waitlist for AKV. We've got a Tree House Booked and since we're traveling with some other friends, the extra space will be nice. Plus we may never have the opportunity to stay there again since its usually just the 4 of us.

Hangs head, walks away grumbling

That's ok. There are others that will be at AKL/AKV. :lmao:
