DIS Dads in December - Let the Party Bus Roll!

Gentlemen! I must apologize for my absence. I'm certain that MAN LAW has a "no whining" clause so I won't go into detail except to say that life got in the way of living for a while.

Our trip has expanded. It was going to be me :goofy: my daughter :tinker: and her cousin :earsgirl: ... but now the cousin's mother who is my sister and her youngest son :tigger: are coming with us and my other sister and her daughter :tink: may come as well. When did I lose control of this trip?? The more the merrier. It will be fun!!

In answer to "the 4 Questions"
1- PH
2- Rope drop as often as I can get them there
3- Naps!?! Nah!!
4- Go back to the room at park closing or when the "daddy I'm tired" refrain reaches a critical mass

We will attend MVMCP on Tuesday night the 7th.

My DD :tinker: wants to go to (dare I say it) Universal to see the Harry Potter exhibit.

Our ADR's are
12/6-Cinderella's Royal Table -5:35 pm
12/7-50's Prime Time at Disney Studio's-4:00 pm
12/8-Yak & Yeti at Animal Kindom-5:45 pm
12/9-Chef's de France in Epcot-5:00 pm
12/10-Chef Mickey's at Contemporary-5:05 pm

More later. I've got a lot of catching up to do!

DW & DS are leaving for WDW this weekend, so I have the week pretty much free to start posting Dec trip opts:woohoo:

I checked out the free dining offer, the week we are there is a blackout week, probably because it is cheerleading week or something:confused3. Oh well looks like no kick back this time:rolleyes1

Is it just me, or is it hard to get into the "planning a Christmas trip" mood when it's 90° and humid outside? :confused3

Did you guys know that when the DISdads are at WDW it's also Pop Warner football time? I just looked at the crowd calendar at touringplans.com and it says they'll be there from 12/5 to 12/11. Does anybody know what that entails? Anyone ever run across this in prior years? Basically I want to know if this will affect my family's trip....:confused3

We've been there twice during that week and I don't recall any roaming hoards of pre-teenagers in shoulder pads. From what I have read, the Pop Warner teams (and cheerleaders) are playing/competing during the day, so they won't be in the parks. Toward evening you may see some of them, but I honestly don't recall them being an issue in the parks.
The resorts could be a different matter, however. From what I've heard, they usually flood the All-Stars and Pop Century. I can't speak to what the conditions are over there, but if they get too rowdy, just go Terry Tate on them and they'll settle down.

i never noticed anything either barry. the all star resorts is were alot of the groups stay. i remember the weekends get a bit crowded but during the week its not bad.

I knew it was Pop Warner week (I thought it was the cheerleader compation):confused3. From what I understand they are mostly at the Sports Complex. I'm staying at All Star Movies :scared1: (Danger! Will Robinson Danger!), but since we will only be at the room for a hard sleep each night, hopefully we will be so tired that nothing bothers us. But if I get woken up, you can bet I'll be out there showing my NJ Angry Eyes:lmao:

:lmao: we stayed at all star in 1998, it ended up costing me 20k to join dvc!! :lmao: 3am, 5 buss' pulled in carring a high school band. our room faced the parking lot. :scared1: i didnt hear a thing but dw did! and i quote,"im takin that dvc tour this trip, with or without you." :lmao: which means, if i dont go, she'll buy 600 points per year and not 400 points.:lmao:

That's good to hear. I must admit, I couldn't remember who Terry Tate was, but a quick google search reminded me. It probably won't be necessary but it's nice to know that's an option!! We're over at BWV and probably won't come across these kids.

Well, bad news, I spoke to 3 different people in guest services at MK this week and all three gave me the standard answer: All Disney events that involve guests are done by randomly choosing park guests. With the number of groups we have visiting it would be impossible to fulfill these types of special requests.

So I guess we'll be creating our own magic:banana:

My inexperience is showing...:guilty:
I've been dragging my feet with the ADRs trying to wait for some clarity regarding some friends and family that may be at WDW the same time we are. Well, while I was patiently waiting and trying to accomodate everyone, a whole bunch of the restaurants I wanted to hit have filled up. There are no Chef Mickey's spots left unless I want to eat dinner around 8pm or breakfast at 7am- literally before the sun comes up. So for our character meal, we're having dinner at 1900 PF. Not bad, but we all would have preferred the fab 5 at CM over Cinderella's dysfuntional family.:rotfl:Whispering Canyon Cafe was better but not by much. I'm getting in there for dinner one night but it's at 6:45 - much later than I would have liked.

Oh well, live and learn. :) Next time all the stragglers can fend for themselves and I'll be making the ADR's at the 180-day mark. I looked back and saw when some of you guys made your ADR's. It was around the beginning of June. What a difference 5-6 weeks make.

For kicks, I'll put the rest of my ADR's up here shortly.

I'd keep checking back on CM, a lot of times we've called back later and a restaurant that was booked up was showing available. It's a killer to get there but we did 7:30 at CM last trip. We got seated in a section with no one else in it so when it was time to do the parade Pluto just came over and chased DS around the tables for a few minutes.

that happened to me about 6 years ago. now, i make them and i can allways cancell them.when i seen they were having free dining in december, it would fill up fast. this time, and im not proud of it but i made 2 resis that are dups. im waiting for the candle light pkgs than ill end up cancelling two of the adrs i made. i didnt want to get screwed out of were i wanted to eat.:lmao: they should have eveything at 180 days and they wouldnt have this problem. there are also people who make a bunch of resis and dont show up for half of them, there not sure what they will be hungry for for they make 2-3 resi at dif. places for the same meal.

I kinda figured that would be the response you would get. I'm going to try to seek this out of the box info we need to fulfill our plans:yoda: As soon as Dave reads this he will know where I'm going with this, :cool1: Most likely I'll have a PM in the mailbox on the subject soon from Dave :woohoo: I can't promise anything but will give it my best shot:goodvibes

ok guys Baseball in done for the most part so now it time for me to get planning my Trip:thumbsup2Just to refresh your memories will will probably upgrade our tickets to AP's as it seems we will be planning to go in Aug 2011 so we will be able to dble dip on the tickets. As far as ADR's go we will be winging it,we fly by the seat of our pants and like like to be tied to a schedule. As far as meeting up with you guys I am going to make it a point to meet up with each and everyone of you if possible.Looks like our ressy at SSR will stand with the exception of maybe adding an extra day to the beginning.Well its good to be back I am sure I will be chatting with you guys soon:thumbsup2

Hi Gentlemen, I thought I would share that the Wishes Dessert Party (formerly booking only through August) is now taking bookings through December 29th. This might be a good place to meet up. :cake:
