Dis Con overpriced?

Absolutely, Patrick. Never said you couldn't. I said I thought that was nice; you seem very excited about the trip, and apparently have no desire to know how the cost breaks out, or you have...for whatever reason...a better handle of what's involved that makes the cost what it is. And you appreciate the work that was done; that's very nice too.

My opinion was that I don't feel anyone was "second guessing" anyone else...especially MikoZuna, who started the thread. To me "second guessing" suggests questioning perhaps someone's motives or fairness or decision-making...a challenge to the cost, and I felt, plain and simple, that people just wanted to know why it cost that much...no "second guessing" anyone, and no lack of appreciation of anyone's work. I find Linda's breakdown enlightening; who knew?!! Now those that perhaps didn't know before, do now.

Have a nice day, Patrick. :)

Maryann- I am looking forward to the trip. I do not think any of us could have imagined the prices conventions and large groups have to deal with at Disney. I also based my decision to attend on the prices posted by Pete 9 months ago. Have a nice day also Maryann :)

I am glad that Linda detailed it for us. I think that the prices are well within reason, considering that all the events need Disney CM's and are exclusive. It may not be the bargin of the century, but I think that the cost is adaquate and fair. It is well worth it to me to meet and enjoy the company of the many DISers down there. Thanks Linda, for posting the info :) .....and thanks for all you have done, to make this a special event for us all!

I for one can not wait til the end of Nov. It will be a blast meeting everyone!

Thanks for the info, Linda. I figured Disney events were expensive and appreciate your efforts to keep the convention affordable. I can only imagine how much they are charging for the TOT event (the highlight of my trip).

$55 a gallon for punch? :earseek: Disney is way outta control with their prices!

Woulda paid for one gallon, and given out eyedroppers' ful for each person! ;)

Pssst...it'll be November - people could slide a gallon of Minute Maid punch under their coat! :)

WHAT? It was just a suggestion! :o

That'd be at least $100/gallon. Gotta figure in those sky-high wages those Disney workers are making, plus the cost of keeping those hydroponically-raised cows!!! ;)

I think one can Drink Around the World for about the cost of one gallon of Disney Convention Punch! ;)

I have planned conventions as a meeting planner for several years. The prices Linda mentioned are right in line with a lot of other "high profile" convention areas. And, it is a lot of work. Linda deserves all the kudos .... and much more.

Unfortunately, even though we will be there at that time it was hard to justify the price for the events only in our vacation budget. Hopefully I will be able to see some of those lime green ribbons while we are there.

If there are a few spots, might you open it up to just paying for a single event...for example, XXX for the fantasmic dessert? That is if you don't sell out? Might be an idea to help "cover the costs." I wouldn't even mind if you added an extra $5 onto the price. I would just like to attend one of the events. But, I know how difficult it is to stray from the norm in convention planning. Just a thought incase you don't get the numbers you want.

As Barry said, I didn't even think to question the cost. I just figured that along with the actual costs of our events, thatthere were all sorts of service charges and extra fees I knew nothing about. We have 2 dessert parties, a dinner at EPCOT, an opening reception, a continental breakfast and a character breakfast that are all a part of the convention fee. Add to that, the goodies we'll receive upon registration check in. It seemed reasonable to me. (Actually, I think having the park to ourselves would be an absolute gas, too! But, that's another thing all together!) Let's face it, Disney doesn't do too many things cheap and when they do give discounts, you have to work your butt off to get them. I am very, very excited about this trip and cannot wait to meet everyone! :)
Thanks, Linda, for the breakdown. I thought it was interesting. :D Thanks for all the work you've done! You're the best!:bounce:
