Dis Breast Cancer Survivors Part III - GAGWTA!

I just have to let everyone know that I have the best husband ever. As most of you know, I have been dealing with a lot the past two years. I keep wanting to make plans to travel, or see friends, or get away somewhere with my hubby but none of that has been possible because I never know where I'm going to be as far as treatment is concerned. What most of you don't know is that I have many interests aside from Disney - including cars. I asked my DH if I could get a used Corvette. It's something I don't need and really can't justify, but I told him it's what I need to make me feel better. I figure it's better than wasting money on a therapist because it's proactive and you feel great the minute you're driving it.

Well, we drove over to the west coast of Florida today and bought a 1998 Red convertible with a 6-speed (I'm old school). I have owned to Vettes in the past and I gave up the last one 10 years ago so I could become a stay at home Mom. I never regretted that decision, but I always hoped that I could get another one someday. My hubby made that dream come true today.

I hope you get to have many cool adventures with it. The song Little Red Corvette popped into my mind when I read your post and the Beach Boys too for some reason.

Oh and your dh is definetly the best and now you are definetly the most coolest sista here for sure!!

I was telling my dh about your car coming home from the hosp. We were stopped at a light and I was telling him about your car and we look up and what is across from us but...a red corvette. I told dh and that is what you call a Godwink on the disboards!!

Thank you so much Maryann! It has been a wonderful day! Rain didnt happen so mom and I went to Mr. Jefferson's Poplar Forest and then to the DDay memorial. Was great! Got your text when I was coming over the mountain which is why I was slow to reply when we got back to the house. Has been wonderful weather and tomorrow I take mom up the road to meet with friends from HS for lunch.

Well hmm, 1 shot done yesterday. I did get a headache at first but that is better. Mostly its the ringing in the ear. That is normal but seems to be louder and bothering me. Worst, my L arm hurts so bad at the injection site. I also lay on that side so sleeping was not too fun, very uncomfortable. We will see what today brings. They do the opposite arm today.

Oh and the refrigerator died again. Ds tried to fix it. I dont know if its functional. He did alot of screaming last night. Gave dh and I both a headache. So we are going shopping tomm. I dont know what will happen as dh is leaving wed. They said I might get the results wed. I dont think so because my blood test is noon on mon. etc. Dh agreed to volunteer to help at church, but didnt know this job is so time consuming and overwhelming. He doesnt want to say no. I guess I will have to go with whatever he says, just he has to go turn off the alarm and we live in another town no less,meet the fire company?? etc. It seems like everyone in our family has too much on their plates right now.

At Pensacola beach with DH, dd15 and two of her friends. Very relaxing. A bit crazy at start since DH had to work 12 hours Saturday. So we are in two cars. Also, dd21 had her wallet stolen in Madrid. Luckily her passport was not in the wallet so she can come Friday. Spent most of yesterday freezing her debit card, rounding up cash to send her, and doing a moneygram. I am hoping she can find a moneygram place in Madrid to pick up the $$ today after her class.

Ain't parenthood fun?

DH is having trouble connecting to the wifi here. All three 15 year olds we have here connected effortlessly.

Maybd he should ask them for help?

I am truly evil.

Well the week end was interesting. There was a whole lot of yelling and screaming and trying to get the new refrig through the front door. I think they had to take the screen door off the hinges to get it in. Also we were very limited as to what we could buy as the space was too small. There was only 2 models that fit, a ge with french doors that ds19,dh and I all liked or a whirlpool with the freezer on the bottom and that is what I picked. Its stainless steel. One thing the ds dont like is bending over to get ice out since they are all tall etc. But it fits so thats it. Now maybe next month the stove and dishwasher. I have to schedule things around dh trips etc. They said it iwll be alot easier to get those in the door etc. It took 2ds and dh to get it in the door but only ds23 took the old one out., good he works in the gym.

Ds19 took me for the blood test today, so now the waiting till friday when I have to call the oncology nurse. Only ds21 will be here. Everyone else will be away.

Yes, Maryann, I have. Every time I have to go anywhere and there's only two of us going, I take the Vette. Best therapy ever!

Off to see the Miami doc in Deerfield Beach tomorrow. DH is going with me. I will let you know what's next with my treatment later this week.

LMP- Great you got a new refrig!! Isn't it wonderful to have a working appliance again? I hope you are feeling better. How's the ringing? Any test results yet?

Well the party was great. The day called for rain, scattered showers all day!!! My daughter was getting sad. And I told her to keep a positive attitude. We got out there at 9:00 AM and I had to call because they forgot to unlock the doors. But we got set up and was ready for the party. The cotton cady ladies showed up early and were set up and ready. They were very nice. The had Bannana, blue rasberry, bubble gum, cookies and cream and green apple. The banana was the best!!! The icees were good but the machine clonked out at the end. We have had that for 3 years so it finally gave up! We had funnel cake and Her auntie made a carnival cake which were delicious! Corn dogs, hamburgers, french fries with cheese, sweet potatoes fries, and popcorn. There were a ton of games outside (bowling, minute to win it, dartball, milk bottle toss and bean bag toss, how well do you know the graduate) and they had a lot of fun. My daughter had a ton of fun. It didn't rain until we were in side with the DJ. The DJ had them playing some games with dancing. It was a lot of fun. We didn't leave and get all cleaned up until 10 PM and I was exhausted but I had fun. I will post pictures later.

Well dh leaves tomm. Will see him in a week. Thurs. Ds19 and I are going to the dentist. His ins. will run out I think in sept. I have to ask dh what the rules are. My mouth has been bothering me. Candy I thought of you and all the dental work you had to have. I know I need one crown redone as it chipped half off. $$ and I think our new ins. doesnt cover as much. Oh well.

Wifi is a real challenge here-way too slow. DH did connect yesterday but wifi do slow it times out before he can get I to his email. Luckily his boss is out of town too so DH is not having to work via email. I need to keep this short as the iPhone is faster than the laptop. Lol.

Glad your fridge purchase is accomplished, Maryann. Decision making and deliveries are stressful. Did you pick out the rest of the appliances too?

The party sounded amazing Candy. What a memory you made. Are you recovered from the excitement and exhaustion yet?

Cloudy today. Got too much sun yesterday. We were counting too much on the protection of the umbrella. The sand is so white I think the rays just bounce right under the umbrella.

DD21 received her moneygram. Her program is winding up. She will chill at home for the weekend and then returns to New Orleans to work her 2 jobs (if they held the jobs for her). She needs to work as much as possible to replace the money she spent abroad. I hope to be able to really catch up with the details of her courses and the trip when I get home from the beach. I am glad she is independent in some areas but I wish I saw more of her.

LMP how is the injection site? Glad that they got your fridge in.

Snappy I had to lol about the wifi.

Birthday was great... week off was WONDERFUL!!! Came home and was a little upset from the 2 dozen roses from the ex BF T. (so not to confuse him with the one I have been talking about from LA who IS also an ex but I think he now the BF.... R.)

And from what we have talked about recently well, I keep smiling when I think about him and I just am taking it slow. He is being patient with me too! Tonight we skype so I can watch his son open something I had shipped to him. AND Im going to BR at the end of July. Will be quick trip though Snappy! Fly out after work on a Friday and home Sunday evening. So may not get to see you even if I am in the area. Hope you will forgive me for that. I LOVE MY LIFE right now and feel VERY VERY blessed!!

Car is ready (getting oil change and all) but before I go... I need some prayers. R has a cousin in England who is fighting some bad cancer. She is 36 and has 2 little girls. Started in the breast and spread. Has tenticles???? I dont know about stage (sounds like 4) or what the kind is. Im hoping he can find out for me. She and family were suppose to be at WDW when we went, but this happened.

Snappy- I was cracking up at the Wifi too. LOL Especially with the I phone!!! Hope you and fam are having a good time. I understand about wanting to spend more time with her.

LMP- Yes I have taken everything back. All the rentals and stuff. I am so ready to go back to being a normal day!!! How did your dental appt go? I understand about the insurance issues too. They stink.

My dh secretary always has this saying -too bad, soo sad. Sounds like you are in such a good place right now, stay right where you are sista!!

Linda - I was reading your bus/ice cream thread. Around here they would get fired. They even call us if there is a delay etc. But my kids went on a little bus with less kids since it was private school but still run by our district. I would be none too happy with the whole situation too.

Candy - those pictures are awesome. I love the cake. It looks like you put so much time and effort into making sure your dd had such a wonderful party. I cant wait to see more pictures!

Cheryl and Lisa and Smilie - thinking of you all

Well dh is stuck at the airport for another 2 hours because of the tornado warnings in NJ. I hope they might give him some miles for the delay. They wouldnt normally do that but he is such a frequent flyer they gave him 5,000 miles the other week, so hopefully he gets it again. That would be sooo good.

Ds23 picked up his friend/girl who went to that baby shower yest. The mom told him to tell me thank you for the gift. Hmm, I never even got the thank you for the wedding gift 7 months ago, so I guess this is it again? He said hardly anyone was there.

Tomm. is the dentist and I just saw that Michael W. Smith is going to be a cp narrarator when we are there in Nov.. He is a christian artist and I like him. Our other choice would be Whoopi. I know everyone tries to get her and I dont particularly care for her outspokeness on some issues, but I do think she is a funny actress. So I looked at our schedule and I think we are going to go with Michael so I have to change some adrs around. More work. I hope stuff is open. I will work on that tomm.

Had a wonderful skype visit =o) and yes, too bad so sad. And the roses were not very good quality... I did keep them but they are about gone. He did better another time. I did thank him for them, but also asked why he sent them. I haven't heard anything (no surprise), but it really doesn't matter.

I like where I am right now... only thing that I would change... distance between our homes! LOL but it's really okay. It's just a drive or a flight.

Hope that your DH gets home safely and that the extra miles come in! Use for another Disney trip??? I would go with Michael too. Whoopie cancelled out the last year I think? Or year before. I am looking at the end of it OH! but I normally have a trip earlier to see the CLP. I have to look at the list again! Thanks for reminding me even if it wasnt planned.

I know you aren't surprised about not getting a thank you note. I just don't get that.

Thanks for the prayers for M. my heart aches for her and I have never met her. I was thinking about doing something that I am not sure if R. will do it. But since they couldnt make the trip to WDW, to get the pictures uploaded to one of those digital frames with the pics from the trip and send it to her. Its a thought at the moment though. I don't know if they did any photopass photos.

Hi ladies! I've had a bad chest infection etc. had to take a break from my chemo again, so another delay on my grad day I'm on some stong antibiotics and thankfully they are working well, so I did get my chemo today again. Some pain and zapping in my fingers and toes, a bit squdgy in my tummy, can't taste much, but overall not too bad. I finally got over to my thread for Disney trippers in November and had to add 14 people to the list. whew....
So much to catch up, too much to respond to everyone, but some I want to for sure...
Cheryl... I nearly lived on Carnation Instant breakfast, only the vanilla flavor for several weeks. They've cleaned it up a bit with less sugar fat etc. and it does have your essential vitamins. I did take a 1 week break 2 times then, and just had another one now. They also reduced my chemo by 25% to make it more tolerable. The breaks were only 1 week but it helped a lot. I hope you are finding ways to get through it.
Candy.... Your daughter is beautiful!! you are the mom of the century for doing all that for her, and it's not even her big graduation!
Still having a hard time typing on the new laptop, argh. off to bed now! take care all!!

She (lisa) had an adrenalectomy and is doing well. Has to drink alot of gatorade. Went to Disney World and had lots of un and loves bio in college and wants to be in the health field, maybe dr. (I caught up to her on another thread and told her to come on over here because we miss her!)
