Thanks for talking me down, guys!

I spoke to the Assistant Principal at school, and he said not to sweat it (he's SUCH a sweetie!) So I'm not going to stress over the scheduling of the surgery.

Has anyone here had half (the right lobe) of their thyroid removed?? Any idea about the recovery-- what I can expect??? I can call and ask, but it's now the holiday weekend so I won't get through until Monday. I'm just curious--- will I be able to go to school (and talk a lot) a week after surgery? Can I expect my voice to be effected??

LMP-- Is that SB univ hospital?? And yes, we went to a Baseball game at the Ducks stadium once-- it was the Catholic High School Championships a couple of years ago. What a gorgeous little stadium!!! (Sorry, my heart is at Shea!!)

Ann, the dress is perfect!!!

Best wishes to all-- enjoy the holiday!

Ann You look Marvelous in that dress. Great Choice. You remind me of a woman I work with named "Petey".

Alice- That is so crappy. It's bad enough you have to have the surgery, but then they screw up your schedule. Which is important for you, especially as a teacher.

Merry- Thanks for thinking of us. That was Great!

LMP- I hope you find someone that has the right attitude and some compassion. Hang in there sweetie.

Honu- I am glad you may find someone to help you get to your surgeon. See prayers do work. How's your cane and handicap thingy working out?

Snappy- I love your drive. You are the kick butt-take names later type. True advocate! I love it.

Sha- I am glad it doesn't hurt too much. I am not sure I could take it!

Have a great weekend everyone. I will be working both days.

Thanks! We'll see what happens. I should actually get off the computer and call him before the weekend's over. Thanks to anyone who prayed for me! :flower3: My mom still keeps forgetting I have the placard most of the time, so I haven't really been parking there much. The cane, I fortuantely haven't really had to use lately, my legs have been a little stronger. :confused3 But it's there if I need it. Still workin' on the pimp walk! :woohoo:

Oh yes, love the color of the dress (I always have been partial to green), great picture in great setting.

And. . . the handsome hunk next to you ain't half bad either.

Absolutely charming couple.

Thanks for posting the picture. Ann, as someone told MY DH, you sure do clean up well!!! LOL!!

(Thinking about all of us in the race for the cure in Orlando last year!) LOL

Yes, that would be me, except where my kids are concerned, particularly DD13 (who is coming home tonight from camp, btw).

Not bad for an old, bingo hating, gal.

I think it was Ann who called me a steel magnolia on the thread a while ago.

I think I am a bit too direct and too outspoken but I sure don't agonize about it much.

I am too far gone to change myself at this point.

Snappy... you are not old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You sure you don't want a Joisey accent? We can get you one. :thumbsup2 Although the kids might think you're part of the family. :rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:

I really shouldn't look at my USA Hockey magazine when I get it. It should go straight into the recycle bin. Every time I look, I get reminded of all my dreams that everyone else is living that I'm not. This month had a blip about someone I went to camp with a few years back. She's done everything I wanted to do. If I hadn't have been sick, that would have been me in the article. Now instead of living it, I have to read about someone else living it. Good for them, but it just rips my heart out.

Honugirl... :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

Thanks Sha!

Trying to psych myself up for tomorrow. I'm ready for the 4th. I'm just not ready for the enormous amount of people that are going to descend on our house with their children. :scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1: I hate trying to explain why Aunt Lisa can't play. I know that some of the family judges me too 'cause I'm overweight. Maybe they'll stop when I tell them I'm going to have to have another surgery...

I pray that they will not judge you, and you have a nice day, where you can relax and enjoy it.

I got a little paranoid last night. As I undressed last night I had some tenderness to my right breast. Nothing to the left and when I ovulate, both are tender (and that has already passed for now). This was different... but this morning it is gone. The reason I got a little more paranoid... mom's breast cancer was found because of tenderness. Looking more agressively at insurance today, because work isnt providing it. I am odd man (woman) out because they are all married and covered by their spouses.

Sha-

How much caffeine are you drinking on a regular basis? I'm not a doc, but my own doc said that caffeine in it's many forms (i'm a serious coffee drinker, try to take my coffee and risk being called stumpy) can cause breast tenderness.

This is in no way a DX but, something to think about.

As for everyone else GAGWTA! I found a solution to my incision pain-a simple heating pad does wonders!!

I thought about the caffiene too... but have decreased it to maybe one soda a day if at all, but yesterday I did have 2. Also wondering if when Sally got my body moving with the massage if the congestion that remains could have gotten clogged so to speak. Anyways, it got me looking more at insurance a little more aggressively and that is a good thing. ;)

Thanks! At least I have my bedroom here, so if I can sneak away, I can hide out down there. I'm really tired today. No energy, so it's going to be a struggle.

:hug::hug::hug: I have quite a bit of tenderness in my left breast, way more than the right, but they've chalked it up to hormone changes from the tumor. :confused3 I do drink quite a bit of caffeine though.

Good luck on finding insurance! :thumbsup2

Honu-:grouphug::grouphug:I know that has to be tough! It is hard to convey to others how you feel when you are sick. When I go through chemo I don't look sick because I have a lot of hair and you can't see when I lose it. And I don't get tiny because of the steroids they give me. So sometimes everyone looks and says she's not that sick. Even my husband at times. But I am quick to remind them. Maybe sometimes that's all you need to do is remind them that you are not feeling well. I know explaining all the time gets on my nerves too at times. Hang in there girl! Maybe if we meet in September I can give you some tips on your "Pimp walk"! :cool1:

I totally agree with Sha on this!!!!!!

Insurance is a pain to not have and a Migraine to have. I hope you find something that meets your needs Sha!

Lawd!!!! Don't nobody want you to change! You are wonderful the way you are!!! It's funny because I thought of you too as the one character in steel magnolia's. I am terrible with actors names. But her Mom. Sally Fields???? I like the direct approach because I know exactly where you are coming from and don't have to guess!! As for the age....girl please....nottin' but a numba!!!:lovestruc

You go girl!!! Work that voice! But not too much!

I had a busy weekend. I worked on the Fourth of July and the Fifth. It was tough but the weekend fly by. I have today off. Thank goodness! :worship: I have to pull out things for the garage sale we are having this weekend. So I am pricing and packing today. Never a dull moment.

 to everyone.

LMP- where are you? Miss ya.

Good evening ladies

Hope you all had a great week end

We had ds 19 do the grilling and we were serenaded by the lovely cultural music and fireworks of our new neighbors next door. Heah, I aint complaining too much. Every year I would stay in the house praying that the house would not catch on fire from the mortar shells our drugger neighbor would set off along with the 6 foot bonfires etc. So these people are so much better. We have central air and I always keep the windows shut because of ds asthma, but I do think the windows were almost shaking frm the music this time too.

Candy - Hope your garage sale turns out well. Is this for some disney money? Great way to get some though.

Alice - Praying for your upcoming surgery. And yes, its SB Univ. Hosp, my new home away from home.

Honugirl (lisa) - I hope your were able to enjoy your week end and feeling a little better

Sha - Hope you are feeling better too and that the ins. stuff gets straightened out.

Laurie - How did your dd like camp?

Notatourist - Hope your pain is subsiding.

Hugs to Laura, Linda, Melissa, Maureen, Ann, Elizabeth, Barbara, and everyone else too.

Well I went to the pcp today for the clearance. Hmm, my blood pressure was high when I went in. Um yeah, I just busted my butt walking into your office with a throbbing neck pain, draining wound, tired from grocery shopping, being a little mad at my ds when I saw them on the road on the way here etc. He checked it again later and it was normal. hmm, the dr, sat down and then said, excuse me and walked out of the room with the chart that he declared was not mine!! O.K. I am having visions of Scar telling Simba to run away and never come back. Then I think..hmm.. this would make a great David Letterman top ten reason of when is it time to get a new primary care doctor. #3, when they walk in the room with the wrong chart (thinking to yourself) you didnt even see any other patients around) etc. He asks about my voice... o.k. I am almost laughing to myself thinking about our comments of Kathleen, Lorraine and Brenda, I tell him sometimes its a good day and sometimes a bad day and I said today is a bad day. kind of like a combo of hoarse and low etc. Oh ds got a letter from the CFO of the pool co. From their office in Maryland!!. Wow, hmm, where is the lifeguard of the month??? Just a nice thank you note, gheesh.

GTAGWTA, Blessings to you all.

LMP, not sure how you maintained your composure at the doc's yesterday without laughing,

No fireworks in our area for the fourth, everything was bone dry from no rain for a month.

So what happens starting yesterday. . rain!!

I am enjoying the 20+ drop in temps.

Honugirl, with what you have been adn are going through, you can hold your head proud.

Anyone judging you should walk a mile in your shoes. Try and not give anyone doing this another thought, That is such a closeminded attitude and they are not worthy of your attention. no way jose.

Alice, I think the ladies you mentioned, Kathleen Turner, Brenda Vicarro, say Sally Kellerman are dynamite ladies.
The gravelly voice thing is hot!!!!!

I have thyroid issues too by the way, but my nodules have shrunk a lot since they were discovered in 1991. I have em checked every 4 months and they get a nice ultrasound check annually. I became hypothyroid though the same year breast cancer paid me a visit. I have always wondered about the coincidence of that.

Three cheers for Synthroid. I am on 1.12 mcg right now. Had to raise it recently as my labs showed I needed it. I am still waiting for the enrgy boost.

Sha I can understand your worry. Are you going in for a checkup? What can you lose? With you family history, I think I would, once you get the insurance thing sorted out.

Um, I'm 50, with a soon to be gone Heffalump, teaching adolescents... I'm aiming for a lot of things, but rest assured: "Hot" isn't on the list:lmao:

And I'm having a hard time believing there's not some sort of a link between the breast tumor and the goiter. Seriously-- I've been healthy as a horse all my life. Now, within a year, TWO large lumps appear, inches from each other, and it's coincidence??? I'm not saying it's anyone's fault, but I wouldn't be at all suprised if research showed a correlation.

Hoping all is well with everyone. Surgery is tomorrow, outpaitent, and I'm looking forward to it being over. (So I can determine what size bathing suit I'll get for Disney in 29 days!!!)

Good luck with the surgery and being balanced again.

Been a long time coming, huh? I waited 2 years 2 mos for recontruction, seemed like 2 lifetimes.

Here is to good results and a speedy recovery.

I have not had surgery on mine, the synthroid slowly shrunk the things, you say goiter, I say nodule.

I have felt a bit uneasy about not having them removed rather than the multiple needle biopsies over the years. It does not seem possible to me to make sure you get a good sample of the module when they are large.

Also, my maternal grandma had thyroid cancer back in the 70's. With my mom now a BC survivor too, I am thinking our little family tree would make an excellent case study. I would like to volunteer, if only for the sake of our daughters.

Yes, once I get some insurance I will go. Normally, I would go even without... but if it is something, then I would be not in a good position. And I want a good insurance. The pain though is gone... or has been since the following morning. Still pricing things. I want something good and a name I am familiar with. I am willing to pay more to have a good level of coverage too.

on another note, I ran away last night after work. I drove down to Epcot and had dinner with 2 friends. One lives in Orlando now, and the other had been down for the weekend. Was a lot of fun and am glad I went! Got to see Illuminations, which I hadnt seen in awhile. :goodvibes
