Good morning Ladies

I got a message from someone who said I hadn't been around here much, which is true.

I am doing well, and so is my mom. I have had a lot going on in the last couple weeks especially. (I quit my job of 15 years to go with a new agency that is just starting up). I wanted to let you all know that you are not far from my thoughts and prayers.

Also, sadly, to report that my cousin Keith, who I had asked awhile back to be kept in prayers, passed away this morning to Colon Ca. Please keep his family in prayers please. It is a blessing, despite the sadness I feel.

Thanks

hugs and love Ladies!!

Sharon, I am glad to see you post, and also glad to hear your mom is doing well.

Sorry to hear of your cousin's passing. He was too young.

Good luck with the new job. It is very difficult parting ways after so many years as I know from my experience. However, the rewards can also be great, not just monetarily but in quality of life.

Let us know how you like your new position.

I have been checking on Dan's progress...and praying for him!

I just got back from my "quickie" at disney. :goodvibes ;)We had SO much fun. First of all, the POLY was amazing. I love it there, the pool, the vibe, the service. We had dinner at the WAVE and it is my new favorite restaurant. It was absolutely perfect. Healthy, delicious, and not so expensive (for disney). Room service at the POLY for breakfast was great too. No complaints at all. We went to downtown disney today and had lunch at the T-Rex which was a lot of fun. ALl in all a great trip which just fueled our desire for a longer stay. We are booking a five day trip for August or September.
You know, disney is one of the few places that I can put my recent cancer nightmare on the shelf...plus it has so many great memories of my mom there too. Such a happy place in my life.

Laurie- Bonnet Creek looks wonderful! I can't wait to read your review. I know the location can't be beat for "offsite". I know what you mean about not being sure if we should make trips or not. Like you said, there's time to mull it over.

Sharon- I'm glad things are going well for you and your mom. I'm sorry about your loss...

Maureen- Forgetting about cancer while enjoying happy memories of your mom...priceless!:thumbsup2:hug:

I still have hives. No word on the dermatologist appt. except that they won't make one for me until they have a referral. I am not concerned about it though. I have no intentions of taking the methotrexate anymore. I think I'm already on everything they would give me from what I've read. Prednisone + antihistamines...which make me:squirrel::cat: I have read hives can last for weeks...I hope not! :scared:

:grouphug:

Thanks Laurabelle and Snappy. 51 (as is any other age in my book right now) is too young!

I will try to get caught back up here soon. Have been trying to get information for the RFTC at WDW in October, but no replies from anyone at the chapter who covers it. I know it is October 4th.

Did they have any special room rates when they did that in the past?? I am out of my DVC points and don't want to use the ones I share with mom unless I have too.

I read too that they are not doing the BMW Drive for the Cure this year. How sad! I love driving the cars.

hugs to you all

Yea, I like the location and I like the idea of the lazy river.
There are also supposed to be some good fireworks views although I will probably request something close to the lazy river area for convenience.

DD13 still home with what appears to be the flu, as is much of the 7th grade.

I am achy too, but nothing else.

I end up achy alot so I don't know if I am coming down or not. I am sucking down airborne.

DD18 started pressuring us for the first time yesterday to share an apartment with two sorority sisters rather than a dorm next year at Tulane. We are not ready for it, for many reasons. We don't know these girls, we don't know that they will bail out of the lease and leave DD holding the bag for the whole rent ($1,650/month). It is actually against the Tulane housing rules to do this before 11th grade (make that Junior year) although DD says "everyone does it." I did not sleep well after our not so amiable phone discussion about it. Lots of wierd unsettling dreams.

Ah, some things never change with teens.

Sharon,
Last year there was a deal at Caribbean Beach for around $100/night as well as a value, not sure which, but I think it was Pop.

Good evening sistas.

Well here is a smilie that describes me :sick::sick:

Yup, I got full blown what ds had. I feel miserable. Even the codeine cough medicine was not working. I also got worried that when I spit up some phelgm it had little streaks of blood in it. I had dh call the surgeon but the message was all calls after 3 will be returned tomm. Well anyway I made an appt. wtih the regular pcp, who is stupid and we both dont like anyway. I am going to give him my total surgical update and tell him give me something that will work in the next 5 days because I am starting the diet soon and I dont know how antibiotics will affect stuff etc. This will be tomm. at 1:30 and ds will drive me since I feel like poo!

Dh came to bed at like 3 am, dont ask, mr. workaholic, never stops. Well I told him to touch my head because I felt like I had a fever. He said I felt hot. I told him get me 2 tylenol, so like around 5:30 I woke up in a dripping sweat. I guess the fever broke. I am just so worn out and wonder how much more my body can take lately. I feel like the bus hit me again etc.

Hope everyone is o.k. Blessings to you all.

GAGWTA ladies!

I've been popping in to try and read and keep up with you all!

Laura...hoping the hives ease up soon.

Sharon...nice to "see" you...and so sorry for your loss :sad1:

LMP...my jaw always drops at your strength and perseverence though your battle! :thumbsup2 Hang in there

Maureen...what is WAVE?? Your trip sounds nice :)

Alice...what did DH bring you?? ;)

Laurie....sorry about your teen-induced sleep disturbance. Those discussions can be draining. Especially when you are dealing with a sick younger one and feeling achey yourself. Ugghh

The upper resp virus and flu like symptoms with your DD sounds a little bit like what my father has been dealing with the last week or so....although they have him on an antibiotic...maybe they think an infection secondary to the virus? Not sure as it is not me that the nrusing home talks to. He has been having fevers, mostly spiking in the evening , then back to normal or close during the mornig/afternoon...some UR congestion that seems to have cleared a bit, but a bit of a cough too. At almost 86, those things are always a worry.

DD 22 has a boyfriend and has been scarce the last week or two. Trying to bite my tongue that they are rushing things. It's a kid (well a young man now LOL) that she actually knew in middle school, not in the same "crowd" but aquaintances. He went off to boarding schools in high school and they lost touch and reconnected via Facebook...planned a date I guess they really hit it off...she said it was instant comfort and ease. So we shall see. She is home tonight and we had a nice chat and dinner, she and DH will watch NCIS while I go off to the bedroom for my American Idol time :)

There are only traces of our snowbanks left now in the shady spots, and I have a few crocus blooming...so hurray for spring coming to NH finally!!

Hi everyone!
I know I haven't been posting much, but I have been reading. My hugs and my thoughts are with everyone who would like or needs one, or both.

You ladies are amazing! If I can beat cancer, so can you! I've got the faith in you.
Today has been one year since my last chemo treatment. What a change it has been. Here's to plenty one years+ for anyone and everyone!

Congrats on your anniversary!!! Here's to many, many more!

Ann, he got me an adorable night shirt: Minnie, with her hair up in curlers, with the saying "Time for more Beauty Sleep." She's holding a "scratch and sniff" cup of hot chocolate; fortunately, you really have to try to smell it. But it's adorable and I'm wearing it right now.

Hi NHAnn... nice to "see" you too!

Thanks Snappy... hope that I hear some news about plans, so I can get that going too. I guess I could book and move to a different resort when they come with the offers.

:umbrella::flower1::daisy:~~~***GAGWTA sistas***~~~:flower2::rose::flower:

imabrat- Congratulations on one year!!!party:Here's to many more!

Ann- I hope your dad is better soon. I think your dd's new (old) guy sounds nice...

Laurie-I'm sorry your dd is still sick, ugh. I keep reading very good reviews about Bonnet Creek. Have you rented a car yet? They are so high this year.

Maryann- I'm so sorry you got it too.

I have an appt. with Dr. Treeman on Mon. I had a strange conversation with his secretary. Her phone call woke me from a benadryl nap but I did have the presence of mind to ask if the dr. could tell if this reaction was from the meds or something else. She replied that she isn't a dr. and he and my GI doc have a longstanding relationship and if my doc feels I need to see dr. treeman, then I need to see him (yeah, ok.) Then she proceeded to warn me that I can expect to be there a minimum of 2hrs, as Dr. Treeman has patients who come from all over and are very sick.(yeah, ok.):confused3 Sounds like fun huh?:scared1:

:grouphug:

Laura, I am thinking we will drive since we will be staying for 10 days. It is just over 600 miles and takes a good 12 hours. DD13 wants to fly, and I refuse to fly out of here since there are no direct flights, only smaller planes.
I really like Southwest, but by the time you leave early, drive to New Orleans (you have to allow extra time because you still don't know what you will encounter on the way there), park, fly, get your luggage in Orlando, get a rental, etc., it is an extremely long day.

So in the interests of family harmony (DH wants to drive) and economy, I am trying to stay away from my ding alerts.

It is difficult, I think I am a travel savings seeking junkie.

So anyway, we will have a car regardless.

Not sure I like that secretary/receptionist's tone. Sounds kind of condescending. But the doc sounds very sought after. Be sure and bring a long novel with you and some tunes to listen to.

DD13 seems a little better although still extremely achey. I think the fever is down (I just felt her head) so I think we are on the down side (about time, it has been 6 days now).

Sha, I am trying to not book a RFTC trip following my new economy mindset. I don't have a DVC stay booked, it would have to be through CRO. Although staying at Bonnet Creek may be the answer. If I do that, I will probably book it for 5 nights, starting the Tuesday or Wednesday before, Sept 29 or 30.

The 2 br is a good deal, maybe we could share? If I go it would be solo (no kids or DH this time).

My deal at Bonnet Creek for May is $120 a night (no taxes or fees) for 5 nights. I think he charges $135 for 4 nights. This are prices when you book within a 60 day window. Car would be required I think, no Magical Express, no Disney bus but I think they miay have a shuttle.

Just a thought. Anyone else a maybe? As I said I am on the fence on it still so I am just testing the waters.

That is a thought and keep me posted on your plan. I cant stay that length of time with all the time I am taking this year with my new job. Next year will be different I am sure. But I already booked and paid for so much, as I was working PRN at the other job and knew I could take whatever happened.

I received an email back from the owner we are renting Bonnet Creek for part of our May trip.

Naturally there are units available in late September/ early Ocotober, in the Orlando RFTC time frame.

I am tentatively thinking of booking either a 6 night trip starting Tuesday, September 29th or 5 nights starting Wednesday the 30th. I am leaning towards the 5 nights starting Wednesday.

His price is very reasonable, $120 a night for a 2 br. Once we get within the 60 window, depending on availability he may be able to rebook and get it for $100/ night.

For our May trip we were able to get the within 60 day window price of $120 in whatever season May is in.

The 1 Br is even lower, $90 at today's rates, $75 if he can rebook within 60 days.

Since this is a rental there are no taxes, etc. He even agreed to waive the booking fee due to the nature of the trip.

Pretty neat guy, I think.

Anyway, I am throwing this out there to see if anyone is interested. I am still not sure I am going. But if several of us shared the 2 BR, it would be very economical.

I know how hard it is to plan this far in advance, so no pressure from me on this. I also know this time frame is not long after kids return to school in some areas.

I will say I have had a remarkable time the past two years meeting some of you for this event, Laura, Alison (who we have not heard drom in awhile), Ann and her sisters, Sharon and her mother. It was the ultimate reunion on many levels

If you can make it even only for the weekend, let me know, especially those of you living nearby or somewhat nearby like Sharon and Maureen.

I need to return to work on Tuesday so I plan to return home on Monday, Oct 5. The race in Sunday, Oct 4.

I can't wait to check out Bonnet Creek. I will indeed give y'all a trip report when we return from our May trip.

:cutie: GTAGWTA Good Afternoon Sistas

Well we are all :) people here with the new hot water heater. Hmm, my dh as usual, didnt ask what the price would be. I just had to write out a nice big old check and it only has a 7 year warranty. I asked him if it was an energy star saving thing and um, apparently it is not. Why doesnt dh think of these things. It appears the other heater we had with the same plumber, that co. has went out of business so of course we cant get the warranty honored, I think it was for 20 years, oh well.

I went to my pcp yest. Of course, it is a nightmare, well seems almost laughable. I go in. 2 new employees. Wow, this guy turns over more employees than flipping flapjacks lately. Oh, drats, nurse ratchett, I mean nurse Terry is still there. Newbie Nurse makes a comment to me, oh we arent too busy today, so you will be our 2nd patient. Oh good. Hmm, I sit in the exam room for 30 minutes, staring at my cell phone, taking a mini nap, finally in comes dr. retirement. Oh I wish he would. Well I tell him about my sickeness and tell him my surgical tales of woe. He says the radiation oncologist has sent him a paper etc. He gives me an antibiotic. Orders blood tests for b12 and vitamin d levels. I ask him if he can find out if I had these tests at other hosp. etc. He just blank stares at me. I ask if this is fasting. He says no, only if I circle it, I said well you did circle it. He says, let me seee that (The script). He says, oh that was a mistake, Hmm, further proof that, THIS GUY SHOULD RETIRE!! So I drove my old sick sorry butt to the dr. and pharmacy as ds forgot he had a meeting with his advisor. I didnt sleep well, too much coughing and too much hernia hurting stuff.

Well dh has his colonoscopy on May 26, I said do you know you will be um busy memorial day night in the bathroom etc. Hmm, there goes any good barbeque plans with him and a nice liquid diet. Gheesh. Does he not think of these things, like dates etc. All he kept telling the rad. onc. was when NOT to schedule my radiation because HE had to be in Canada etc. I was thinking that might even be a nice little get away week end for us after the radiation etc. Oh well, back to nothingness, so what else is new?

DS 3 is going to the prom tomm. so I will go with him to get the flowers tomm etc. and pick up his tux at the cleaners tonight etc.

Laurie -I hope your dd feels better real soon.

Laura - I guess the best drs. take a lot of waiting for. I know I heard my dr. say his surgery schedule just for little stuff was like over 3 months booked etc.

Alice - Your nightshirt sounds cute!!

Imabrat - Congratulations to you :thumbsup2:cheer2:

Blessings to you all.

Thanks for the information! I do not know if you all have heard that Spoodles will be changing over to a Cat Cora restaurant. I don't recall the name at this time, but I am hoping they will still do breakfast. I really liked that when we were there. I also am not sure if I am having a small team of walkers/runners. I would love to have a few when I go of friends. I guess that is why I want to start getting information, so I know what to plan for and how to bribe, I mean recuit them.
