Laura, thanks for the update! Glad to hear that the preliminary results are OK and it's good that they are following up and are keeping an eye on him.

Dan, thanks for the new update on Beth. I pray that she will get all of the treatment she needs to recover as quickly as possible.

Have not been reading this DISboard and this thread for a while but always thought of all of you, especially Beth. Wanted to check today how her operation has been going and found the bad news. Dear Beth - I am so very very sorry, can't believe what you are going through now. Please know, that you are in all of my prayers. My sister Tina is sending lot's of good thoughts and prayers across the ocean, too. She wanted to write a message to you, but she is very concerned about her english (more then I am).

Sending my best wishes to all of the other members of the GAGTWA sisterhood - especially to Laura (glad that your husband is doing better) and to Wendy (hope you can see the surgeon soon and that it will be nothing!!!) and to everybody who is fighting or has a loved one in this battle!

Warmest regards from Germany

Birgit

Hi Birgit!! :wave2: :wave2:

It is great to hear from you again.

Your English is excellent. I only wish I could write in any other language half as well as you do in English.

Give your sister our best as well.

Thanks for the update, Dan

Laura, I am so glad to hear Dan is stable. What a scare. Yes, dear, hold him tight.

The Hat, I think your plan is a good one. I would not wait that long either to be scheduled at a more convenient time. Since your son is not a toddler and can amuse himself, I think it should work out AOK.

Birgit! Nice to hear from you!!

What a roller coater of emotion this thread is...I was just scanning back over the last few weeks. Such a positive for all of us (regulars, occasionals, folks going through a scare, supporters and lurkers...) to have each other to to share with....
GAGWTA!!

GAGWTA and a special hello to Birgit! (Please tell your sister we would love to hear from her, we don't care if her English isn't perfect ;) ).

Glad to see that things seem to be holding steady - that Beth had some hopeful news and that Dan is OK. :goodvibes I spent a lot of time in the chapel at work this week and placed Beth's name on the prayer board there. Beth, there are people in Boston praying for you.

Today at 2pm I am having breast MRIs. They are the first ones I've had since my initial diagnosis. I've found those old feelings of worry creeping up again this week. :worried: If your so inclined, any P&PD would be appreciated. :grouphug:

Hope Merry is having a nice time in WDW. :wizard:

DH had his third interview yesterday with what looks like a nice company and good opportunity for him. He is mulling it over today and they will talk more tomorrow. :thumbsup2

Hope everyone has a nice day. Here in New England it is absolutely beautiful outside. The weather is starting to turn springlike. :sunny:

P & PD are coming your way!

Birgit, nice to hear from you. Your English is great!

Laura, how is Dan feeling?

:grouphug: to all.

You are in my thoughts and will be again at 2 pm, Linda,1 pm in these parts.
I know you must be on pins and needles. But it sounds like you are in very good hands at your hospital.

My BP was better yesterday, 140/70. Still need to work on the big number. All other tests were very good, my TSH level is well within normal range on my current synthroid level.

We talked about PCOS, and my medical history. He did not think there was any chance I have it. Encouraged me to keep exercising (I was proud of myself, I did 35 minutes on my stationery bike before my 10:15 appointment).

I don't have to go back till August, have my bone density test and ultrasound on the thyroid nodule again in July, so it can be read before the appointment.

I guess I am good to go, especially for an overweight, 52 year old, one breasted mother of three (two of whom are teens, argh!!)

Dear Linda (Pea-N-Me) - your worries are very, very understandable! Tina does'nt go to her MRIs or CTs alone anymore (she did after her Breast cancer operation, but not anymore since her lung cancer). She needs a family member to accompany her. And you know what - it is heartbreaking to see her face while sitting in the waiting room, waiting for the results. So I know very well, how you are feeling.

Special prayers and good thoughts are flying across the ocean with hopes for fast and most of all real good results!

Hope everybody else of the wonderful Ladies here has a great day!

Warmest regards from Germany

Linda, please extend my congrats to your husband about the job opportunity.
I hoping the discussion with them tomorrow goes as well as the first three interviews.

Linda, good luck, prayers are coming your way.
Wendi, I know too that waiting is the worst. Knowing whether good or bad, is easier than not knowing. prayers for you too.
Laurabelle, so glad hubby is doing better.
Beth, best of luck and prayers for you too.

If I've missed anyone, everyone of this board is in my thoughts and prayers, you are all such a big part of my life, as I've said before, I lurk a lot, and post little, but everyday, I pray for all.

Hi everyone! I posted a thread for prayers and pd for my Mom on the community thread and Dan Murphy suggested a post here as well. My Mom is 65 and has just been diagnosed with vgnal cancer. She has a 3 inch tumor on the inside of the vgnl wall. The Dr. said it is curable, and said she does not have to have it removed but they are giving her 5 weeks of radiation and 1 day a week of chemo in addition to that. The Dr. said it's not in any other tissues or organs, but we are all still very freaked out since this is our families first time of ever dealing with any kind of cancer. She seems to be upbeat but I am afraid once she starts radiation and chemo she will get sick. Can anyone give me any info on this type of cancer?? Or just in radiation and chemo in general?? She wants to keep working through all of this which is amazing to me but she is about to retire in about 2 months. Thank you !

Today's really bad news.

Got the call about the biopsy yessterday of that 1cm nodule in my abdomen and it is cancer. So I officially have mets to the lung and this area.

I'm scared to death. We've got a contact person at Sloan Kettering and will be going up there as soon as possible. Jim is getting all my paperwork and tests and things together.

things just aren't adding up and it's so frustrating... PET scan was normal....nothing lit up.... tumor markers.....normal, even below normal.... then CT's show something and biopsy says cancer. WTH?

Whatever is going on with me doesn't fit the books and has the docs here baffled and has me depressed beyond words. I feel like I just got a death sentence.

Thanks for all the prayers so far. They help so much! Anyone near NYC? Anyone know about Sloan Kettering??

:(

Wanted to let you know I heard from Donna (donnabres) that Monique (shoot, can't remember username right now - Disney something) had her surgery and is home now and doing ok. Also, Donna is undergoing treatment and could probably use some cyberhugs from us, is coming to terms with her diagnosis and as we all know that takes a while and can involve some rough moments (I think she needs a Disney trip :wizard: - maybe after tax season, what do you all think??). :teeth:
Hi everyone! I have not been on the Disboards for a while, but I just wanted to give an update. I am still recovering from my Mastectomy, but getting better every day. I am hoping to have my JP drain out tomorrow.

I got my pathology results last week, and and they were everything that we had hoped for! Any cancer cells that they had seen were dead, and in my lymph nodes there was only fibrous tissue, or scar tissue where the cancer used to be, Thank God!! :woohoo: Thank you all so much for your prayers!

I have one more round of chemo to go through starting April 5th. Then I will have 6 weeks of radiation. We are hoping to go on a 3 day Disney cruise in September for our 15th Anniversary. It will give me something to look forward to, and comes highly recommended from Donna and Linda! :thumbsup2

Linda- let me know how your MRI goes, I will be praying for you!

Take care everyone. ~Monique

Oh My goodness, MinnieM3. You must be scared to death. My prayers are with you. Do not hesitate to PM or email me if you want to talk. Please keep us informed of how you are doing. ~Monique

Beth, I am devestated to hear your bad news. I am glad you are researching other medical centers. If your current docs are baffled, there must be more to the story.

Beth, my younger brother Tom has lived in New York for several years. When he was feeling off last spring everyone told him to have the testing done at Sloan. He was very high on the place. For a while his blood work was very troubling. They continued to test him until they determined he has an autoimmune disease. I think the hospital has a very good reputation. I'll send him an email and try to get more information. I know he really liked the doctor who treated him.

I think from my reading that some centers will retest biopsy specimens. I think I read that sloan has a top pathology department.

It sounds like Jim is taking charge of things. He sounds like a real prince.
I am praying for you, Jim and your children. I also like to pray for the doctors.
If you can please send me the names of your doctors, I would like to pray individually for each of them as well, that God guides their efforts.

Monique, glad to hear your results are good. It sounds like your treatment is very successful. I am so glad you are feeling well enough to post here.
glad you are at the end of the chemo.

Beth....I don't have any info to offer about Sloan-Kettering...wish I did :grouphug: I agree with snappy...your Jim sounds like a gem and I am continuing to pray for you all. I can only imagine how scared and depressed you must be. But Please please please do NOT give up hope and view this as a death sentence!
"Hope is the very heart of healing. For those who have hope, it may help some to live longer, and it will help all to live better." The Anatomy of Hope J. Groopman, MD This is from a little plaque that was given to all Survivors at the local Making Strides Against Breeast Cancer walk last fall.

Monique! How wonderful to hear your good news! :goodvibes And I agree a post-treatment vacation is wonderful to look forward too. Mine was a quiet week in Maine and not a Disney Cruise....but the cruise sounds sooooo good!!So glad you posted.

Linda...hope it went well this afternoon and I am looking forward to seeing you post good results! Hugs and prayers for you too.

GAGWTA !!
