I think Disney is trying to do away with the DDP. Cutting back on everything.

Great thread idea. I can't wait to hear more. We will be at WDW 2/26-3/2 and we are still trying to decide if the DDP is the way to go. I just keep thinking that there is only so much dessert we can eat!!!:rotfl2: Truly, I don't think we are the type of family that can keep up with that schedule. Anyway, finding out what type of snacks are "approved" will help with my decision making. OP, thanks for starting this thread.

My guess would be that DIsney's trying to see how much they can cut back from the DDP and still have people think it's worth buying it. I know for us, having several small children, it's still worth it, but if they cut back anymore it will probably cross over the line to not-worth-it. Some families are already at that point.

I"m surprised they're doing away with the box of donuts as a snack credit. Those were the hottest item at the Pop last year during free dining. And that has to be such a minimal expense to them to keep in stock.

I'm curious to see what people get away with during busier times on the DDP.

My understanding is that it isn't the CM's stopping the purchase - it's the cash registers. Unless they make a conscious change to the plan, I doubt that the busier seasons will affect what you can and cannot get for a snack.

Subbing, and saying as long as I can still get chocolate covered Mickey rice krispy heads, chocolate Mickey head ice creams, and eh, water, I'm good. :thumbsup2

we are at DW currently, staying at Pop Century and these are the snacks we've been able to get so far:

bottles of juice and water
pastries, like muffins, danishes, cupcakes
slices of carrot cake and chocolate cake
dirt pudding cups and jello cups
french fries and cheese fries from the Pop food court
breadsticks
small side salads and veggie sticks

at the registers at the Pop food court, they have the single serve bags of nuts, pretzels, trail mix, and different candy stuff that you can use as a snack. Also the rice krispy treats and single package of cookies.

In the parks, we've been able to get the giant pretzels (if you want the cheese sauce, it's an extra snack credit or you can pay $1) the Mickey head ice creams, churros, and also you can get McDonald's french fries as a snack. We are headed to the MK today to see what we can get at the candy shop and Main Street Bakery, so I will post later as to what we are able to get.

What about Figaro fries? Does anyone know if you can still get those?

Thanks for the post! Looks like pretty much anything we considered a "snack" is still covered. :) Including the Mickey head treats! :cool1:

Will be there soon and still hoping to get something besides chips, fruit, and bottled water. We're going to be on the deluxe plan. Will post what I find when I get back.

Thank you so much! I look forward to your next installment. :thumbsup2 We'll be in the world a week from today, and it sounds like we won't have a problem at all with the snack offerings.

Dole pineapple float from Aloha Isle (MK)
Double scoop ice cream from Plaza Ice Cream Parlor (MK)
Haagen Daz ice cream bar (Everything Pop)
Yogurts in various locations (we have a 14 month old in our group so that's where most of our snack credits went)
Large bottles of water in various locations
Bagels (Everything Pop) (I was told the cream cheese was included, but I wasn't there so I can't confirm that)
Grape bowl (Everything Pop)
Fruit cup (Everything Pop)
Pastries (Everything Pop) - but not the box of donuts
Cheese fries (Everything Pop)
Slushies from African Outpost (Epcot, in the World Showcase area)
Dessert items from Sunshine Seasons (Epcot)

The list of snacks changed as of Jan 1 regardless of the dining plan you are on. We were caught on that. Also, the CM at the tent at Mickey's Toontown Fair thought we could get a piece of fudge ($3.99) as a snack on DDP but she was not able to ring it in. It could be one of the items that got dropped on the new snack list.

Edit: Our trip actually started on Dec 31 so we were on the 07 DDP, but we didn't get any snacks that day. All the snacks listed were obtained in 2008

Both of these sound very reasonable to me. Can't wait to use the plan next summer.

okay we just got back from MK and I have a few more snacks to report. At the big candy store on Main Street, you can get most of the single serve candy items as as snack. You can not get the jelly beans or M&M's that are in the big bins that you dispense into your own bags. We were able to get a giant rice krispy treat and a cashew turtle from the candy counter near the back of the store.

We then went to Main Street Bakery and I was told that anything in the case could be used as a snack. So I got an apple turnover and DH got a bag of caramel popcorn from the gluten free rack. I was expecting to be denied at the register, but both items went through as snacks.

We also got a box of popcorn from one of the popcorn carts.

There really is a big variety of what you can get as a snack, I just can't remember them all right now. I don't know if this is something different, since this is our first trip to DW, but at a lot of the quick service type restaurants and stands, the items that you can get as snacks are marked on the menu. They all have a purple "DDP" icon next to them. If you are at a place that doesn't have the menu marked, I have just been asking the people behind the counter.

Oh, one thing we found that we couldn't use as a snack was the freeze-dried ice cream at Stitch's Great Escape. (This was something DH had been looking for all over the parks, so we bought it anyway for $4.) Hope this helps and that I haven't confused you guys even more!

Do all the little carts and stands have a computer to connect with the system to see that you are on DDP? We haven't done this before...
