DH & I are considering driving to WDW from NJ this year. I'm assuming the most direct route is 95 the whole way? Also, what is the halfway mark? Charlottesville, NC? We need to stop for an overnight as our 2yr daughter will be w/us.

Thanks.

we did it last year with a 6yo

drove from bayonne
to south carolina (south of the border tourist trap) looked around
then drove bout 20 min more to motel florence sc lots of motels there

then next day drove to disney
95 all the way but in florida it was rain and bumper to bumper so we took 1 all the way to orlando though daytona

well it depends on what time of the day you are leaving. last year we left @ 4 am and got to savannah ga, about 5 pm. we have 2 small children ds 3 & dd 16 months (that how old they were last year when we drove). we only stoped for gas ans bathroom breaks, we packed our own food for the day so we woulld have to stop. i think we did stop once for about a 1/2 hour so they could run around. we will be doing it again in 6 weeks!!!! can't wait. and good luck to you.

Haven't driven it in a few years but... from Philly area, used to take us almost 16 hours straight through. Be sure to leave early enough in the am so that you are past DC before am rush (7am-ish).

Took 95 all the way & picked up 4 near Daytona.

DH makes this drive every month. He does it in one shot--although he hasn't hit bad weather yet.

It takes him between 16-18 hours from near Bridgewater Mall for a landmark.

He usually leaves on a Saturday about 4:00am, and is at our home just west of Disney by 9:00pm. As he puts it, early enough for a bowl of ice cream, a beer, and an hour of tv to relax.

The longest it's taken us to make the drive was about 22 hours, we hit every bit of bad weather and traffic snarls that was possible.
