I thought it would be fun to see what type of owner everyone is. I asked this on another forum and it was fun to read about other members ownership type.
We are all resale now, but that darn FOMO and low point charts at CFW has us really considering direct. BUT man the savings with resale are soooo nice. For reference 75 at CCV and 150 at SSR.

Hybrid here! Around 12% of our points are direct. Satisfies the FOMO and just enough to be able to book a week at the new restricted resorts if it’s ever needed.

Perfect, you have enough direct for blue card, or just enough to dip your toes in all resorts? That’s our other debate are we FOMO of the perks, FOMO of being restricted at certain places, or a hybrid FOMO lol

I am about 50/50 direct versus resale. Works out to 330 Direct and 320 resale. I also have 2 UYs and the one is resale only and the other is a mix.
  • 150 SSR Direct
  • 50 VGC Direct
  • 50 VGC Resale
  • 75 AKV Direct
  • 100 AKV Resale
  • 120 SSR Resale
  • 50 AKV Resale
  • 55 VDH Direct

That’s a great portfolio, west and east coast!

Around 60/40 with most points direct. This will go higher when LSL goes on sale. Will likely land around 50/50 at some point when the perfect resale contract pops up.

I like the savings of resale, but I have to admit that I don’t love when I’m booking a restricted resort and those contracts are not available.

Team Hybrid here. We have enough direct points to get the membership benefits (we go often enough that the Sorcerer's pass is a great deal for us) and to stay at least once or twice a year at any new, restricted resorts if wish. But once addonitis hit we've stuck strictly to resale. It's the best of both worlds!

We have 525 direct SSR and 100 direct VDH. SSR we use as SAP for a week in the summer and a week at the end of December. VDH is for a 7-10 day trip every other summer.

210 points (between 2 contracts)- all resale at SSR. We went strictly for sleep around points bc we are happy to stay anywhere- even SSR. I'd love to sell and buy direct, but my husband doesn't want to. At this point we have bigger goals so I'm letting it be, but eventually I hope to get enough direct to be blue card eligible.

600 direct RIV; 150 resale CCV

RIV is where we discovered DVC and see us staying for the long-term. We feel like we know we'll be happy having points there, and I wanted enough to secure a 2 BR for the highest point periods. Those are my long-term points. For me, I currently look at resale as an area where I can have some fun, looking for good deals for SAP to boost my points where, even if I decide to sell after a few years, it would have been worth it. That's how I got my CCV points. I can see myself picking up some additional BLT or CCV resale points if the right deal came along and I thought the points could be useful for both (1) 7-11 month bookings at either of those resorts, and (2) SAP. SSR is also good for SAP, but you don't really get any benefit from the 7-11 month booking window there so I doubt I'll pick up points there.
