I saw the thread linking to the various resort faq's but i didn't see a link for fort wilderness. we are staying at the cabins for the first time and i would like to hear some points of view. please lead me towards a fort wilderness faq :)

I have stayed at them a few times growing up and again this year. Do you have a question I might be able to help you with?

ETA:
Check out allearsnet.com they also have quite a bit of information regarding FW.

Well, we've stayed at WL 3 times and I am wondering if this will be a bit of a let down compared to WL. when we booked the dining plan (last week) the only rooms they had left were at fort wilderness and saratoga springs. we love WL so how does FW compare?

We stayed in a cabin last December and are staying at WL this December (for the first time)! The link in my signature has some pictures of the cabin we stayed in, if that's helpful to you. Also the camping board has a lot of info on Ft. Wilderness.

Question: How much does it cost per night to stay in a cabin? I tried pricing it on disneyworld.com but could only get pricing for the campsites (and there is no way no how my husband would agree to camp, he needs his bed, tv, etc---he says after all the camping he had to do in the Army, he'll never camp again!)

You can also ask questions over on the Camping Board right here on the DIS.

I usually tell people to be sure to bring salt and pepper, basket coffee filters and coffee, and small cups for the bathroom.

If you think you'll heat up pizza or ready to bake cookies in the oven you might want to bring foil or one of the newer silicone sheets.

The main pool, while one of the deepest on property, is not themed. And DH loves the pool bar there. There is a small kiddie pool, no hot tub. There is also a leisure pool near the 2500 cabin loop where the laundry is.

There are nightly campfires with Chip and Dale, a singalong, and Disney movies are shown. You can buy somemores kits there.

HTH -- Remember to visit the camping board.

The 2007 rates are $249 plus tax for the cabin. We had an AP rate and I think paid around $180 including tax.

On disneyworld.com when you select your resort select Fort Wilderness Resort not Fort Wilderness Campground in order to price the cabins.

The cabins vary in price based on the season - $249 up to $365 per night.
