I wonder if this is going to mean a rise in ROFR.
My guess is to make the Poly seem like a better deal and so if/when they acquire points at those resorts with closed wait lists via foreclosure or ROFR they can make even more money off them. Oh and I'm pretty sure that they stopped honoring old prices for people going on the wait list as of Dec 2014. I know I saw complaints early last year that someone who joined the BWV wait list in Dec 2014 was told by their guide that Disney was no longer honoring old prices if the price per point was increased while on the wait list. If that is correct then anyone who joined the wait list after that started (but before it closed) would be forced to pay the higher price for those sold out resortsWhy would they raise the price on properties where they won't even add people to the waitlist?
I contemplated buying a 50 or even 25pt direct at poly (bc I love it there-- first visit was end of January a few weeks ago), but I can't bear to spend that much per point.
Plus, every guide I've ever met I've wanted to smack. First guy was 2010, before we bought resale. Looked at AKL and BLT. The guy was a total jerk, trying to get us to buy telling us how stupid we were to wait--- cementing my decision to buy resale just so he wouldn't get my money or commission (thankfully! My bwv has gone up in price).
My 2nd encounter was a few weeks ago. Was at poly with my brother. He took the tour but was in the process of sending his money to close for a SSR resale contract. The guy told us we were wasting his time. Ummmmmm. Guess I'm not buying poly direct from him even though I vaguely considered getting a poly contract.
Hate sales people-- my apologies to anyone who works in direct sales on this site. My statement isn't personalnor is it inclusive of all sales people... Just the ones I've met!
They should offer a way to buy online without dealing with a guide. Just fill out online form and include CC info for deposit.

I heard straight from a Club Guide's mouth a couple days ago that SSR direct is going up from $135 to $145 today. We also inquired about AKV, and they had points available, but didn't mention a price increase.
