I just read on another forum that direct DVC pricing will increase on Friday. Anyone else hear about this? Amount of increase?

Haven't heard anything. DVC direct sales just rebounded after a slump. My guess is that unless they want another slump they should probably let them be.

We were on the Jan 10 wonder cruise. At the DVC member presentation we went to....for the free drinks and hats...they hinted at a price increase coming as they were hoping to stir interest in buying more points.

Why would they raise the price on properties where they won't even add people to the waitlist?

TBH, feels like they're trying to take advantage of people who don't know about resale or who believe the undue hype about "direct benefits!"

I just can't fathom any direct benefit that's worth $50/point or more.

I'm assuming it is true as the former DVC guides that run dvcresalemarket seem to know things even though they no longer work for Disney.

Why would they raise the price on properties where they won't even add people to the waitlist?
My guess is to make the Poly seem like a better deal and so if/when they acquire points at those resorts with closed wait lists via foreclosure or ROFR they can make even more money off them. Oh and I'm pretty sure that they stopped honoring old prices for people going on the wait list as of Dec 2014. I know I saw complaints early last year that someone who joined the BWV wait list in Dec 2014 was told by their guide that Disney was no longer honoring old prices if the price per point was increased while on the wait list. If that is correct then anyone who joined the wait list after that started (but before it closed) would be forced to pay the higher price for those sold out resorts

Ticket prices are going up so I can see DVC prices increasing.

Some speculation here. VWL is to go up to $160/pt according to the blog. What does that mean for starting prices for the new VWL 2? Surely an announcement has to come before the next price increase ( assuming the price increase is in a year. ). So are we talking about VWL2 starting at $180/pt?

VGF at $180/pt? Wow, just wow.

I contemplated buying a 50 or even 25pt direct at poly (bc I love it there-- first visit was end of January a few weeks ago), but I can't bear to spend that much per point.

Plus, every guide I've ever met I've wanted to smack. First guy was 2010, before we bought resale. Looked at AKL and BLT. The guy was a total jerk, trying to get us to buy telling us how stupid we were to wait--- cementing my decision to buy resale just so he wouldn't get my money or commission (thankfully! My bwv has gone up in price).

My 2nd encounter was a few weeks ago. Was at poly with my brother. He took the tour but was in the process of sending his money to close for a SSR resale contract. The guy told us we were wasting his time. Ummmmmm. Guess I'm not buying poly direct from him even though I vaguely considered getting a poly contract.

Hate sales people-- my apologies to anyone who works in direct sales on this site. My statement isn't personal :) nor is it inclusive of all sales people... Just the ones I've met!

The first I heard of this was a post by WilsonFlyer at 8:19 AM ET on *******'s forum. In that post, he mentions the blog post was from yesterday.

They should offer a way to buy online without dealing with a guide. Just fill out online form and include CC info for deposit.

This qould probably upset their sales people. If they don't do that already, that's probably the reason

They can't do that. They're heavily regulated, and aren't allowed to sell in some states. That's why you have to talk to a guide.

I heard straight from a Club Guide's mouth a couple days ago that SSR direct is going up from $135 to $145 today. We also inquired about AKV, and they had points available, but didn't mention a price increase.

Hearing anything straight from a Guide's mouth is the same as hearing it straight from the Horse's [NOT MOUTH], but the other end!
:)

So like I said in my post earlier this week I think it is to make Poly seem more attractive vs the sold out resorts. I just posted a new thread but for anyone who didn't see it DVC just launched a new Poly incentive for current members to add on. Of course you have to add on at least 100 points but you get 10 bonus points for life of the contract.

Edited to add and I forgot I did also ask about hearing a rumour of price increases. Our guide confirmed that as of today the prices were raised. So now they are selling BLT at $180 pp vs $168 at the Poly (and this new incentive for current DVC owners)-think they are trying to drive sales there?!
