Dinosaur Ride

My problem is that people are too quick to jump to conclusions that this is all Disney's fault and they always run behind on things. We don't know the back story here, so we can't jump to conclusions. Dinosaur went down for a scheduled refurb, it has been extended. Sure it could be Disney just being slow but that very rarely happens with reforms. This very well could be an issue that couldn't be found until the took things apart, or they'll surprise us and add new affects.

While I appreciate the difficult position Disney must be in, especially when extending a refurbishment for a major attraction very last minute, it is hard to not feel very discouraged when your trip is impacted by these announcements. I'm sure they're going to have some pretty unhappy guests due to visit soon. All I can hope is that it is being extended for something really awesome that I'll get to experience the next time I go to WDW.

the closure sounded short to me so i'm not surprised. I think disney needs to start listing refurbs as longer and then surprise everyone with early openings. we'd all be tricked into thinking that disney is speeding up construction habits though :(

Whoa-- this thread went crazy......

I'm really glad they are finally fixing Dinosaur-- I don't care how long it takes-- I am currently finding not much of a reason to go to AK-- I hope they announce ROL soon so I don't feel compelled to cancel my upcoming AK night-- I blame no one---

Our Fast Pass was cancelled and that was for November 13th. I am disappointed but realize that this is the way it needs to be. Hopefully it will open while we are there. Keeping our fingers crossed.

I've nver been a fan of that ride so I am not too upset they are closed through our trip. However, if they extend the RnRC refurb, I am going to be really upset.

Got my notification of a replacement FP+ on Nov 3rd... on PW.. really Disney... You're going to disappointment me like that and then give me a replacement fast pass on the worst attraction at the park?

This made me laugh as my wife and I ALWAYS ride it with our son. Its something we look forward to .... getting over with every year.:crazy2:

I guess they could stretch the rehab into December. Got a FP a couple of weeks ago for December 12, can't believe they'd be giving FP's at this point if they were planning to extend the rehab further.

Me too!!!!! Our youngest couldn't ride this the last time. He is so excited to ride it this time!

Maybe WDW should do more maintenance more often , so the ride does not require a 4 month overhaul? How about not letting them get to this state in the first place?

The problem is they NEVER want a ride down at a peak time....so they try to fix everything at a slower time.....maybe the need another season. High season, Medium Season , Low season and Refurb season.

There needs to be a better way that lumping a ton of refurbs during the same season.

I have a fastpass for this ride on 11/20 and it hasn't been cancelled. Hope it stays that way!

Dinosaur is my favorite ride! I go to AK on 11/29 I'm really hoping it's finished by then! :)

I was a bit upset going into our vacation this month when I saw that BTMR, Dinosaur et. al were all under refurb along with the cranes in AK and all the walls and half a park at the Studios but you know what? Once we got there we didn't even realize it!! I promise :) We had so much fun and STILL didn't manage to do it all, even though we were there over 15 days!!!

That's not how these refurbishments work. Of course they can shorten refurbishment duration by proper upkeep, but at the same time attractions require extended downtime to ensure more radical changes can be worked out. Things like implementing software changes, conducting track work, show set changes, safety enhancements, deep cleaning, etc. call for extended closure. Water attractions like splash need it the most.

It also does make sense to shut them down during the off season, because that's when less capacity is required. They're doing everything right, and they should be celebrated for making positive choices.

Well it was my statement that was quoted and I blamed no one. Just disappointment.

Wanted to voice my support for the original posters. They did not call anyone stupid, they did not state they wanted anyone to be unsafe.

They stated short, one sentence updates about their trip which helps inform everyone else planning trips.

But I will say it and call Disney out. Disney could do a better job on managing expectations with better updates or disclosure. I'm tired of hearing everything first through rumors because then half is true, half is not. I can think of several they have fumbled. Like the dual announcements at the parade coming west instead of one? That lead to tons of questions because they were so vague? Like mysterious events/dining appearing on the website and then disappearing? Good grief, that's playing games with updates!

The only thing to say to the original posters is, thanks for the updates/information, not take issue with them.
