Dinning reservations

I know Disneyworld you have to book reservation far in advance, Is this also true in disneyland

Disneyland, California Adventure and Downtown Disney restaurants that take Priority Dining reservations allow you to make a reservation up to 60 days before your date. For example, I could make reservations today for October 16.

I'd say if there's something that you consider a must do, then make the PS before you get to DL. I don't think you'll have to call the very day the PS window opens, a month or so before is probably OK.

Blue Bayou for example, if you want to go here, I'd say definitely make the PS before you get to DL. I have went to other places with no PS's made (Cafe Orleans for breakfast and Tortilla Joe's for an early dinner are two I can think of off hand). Of course we are very flexible and it's just DH and I so we eat when we are hungry. Sometimes we have called the day of and get one for later that night.

Another thing it would depend on is when you are going. For instance if you are going Christmas week, I'd make one for every place I wanted to eat while I was there. If you are going at an off peak time, say middle of the week in Sept, you're probably going to be able to get in fairly easy. Being flexible with times also makes it easier.

I like picking a couple places and making the PS's before we go, it makes the trip seem that much closer!

HTH!

I would say for BB or Napa Rose, to call at least a month out. The rest you could wait until a few days before. But for lunch and especially dinner on a Friday or Sat night, be sure to make a PS. Most of the sit down places will have a wait. Also, for the character meals, if you have a set time you must have, then call. Have a great trip.:)

Sometimes you can call the day of and see if there's any tables available. One day my mom decided to eat at the Blue Bayou for dinner. She called Disney Dining to see if there were times available, and sure enough there was. One day she also decided to go to Napa Rose for dinner. All we did was walk right in! As you can see, she likes fine dining. But to be on the safe side, you might want to call ahead of time. I guess if you're planning to go on a random day and not during a holiday, then you can go off on a whim like my mom and plan your dining the day of.
