Cruising soon ( 12 days
Husband has hearing problem
It’s ok with me ( one on one )
But he worries not enjoying his dinner if we are seated with other table mates
I wonder if we can be seated by ourselves?
Si he enjoys his dinners and not worry about being understood and make people repeat
Already not fluent English speaking now the hearing problems ..
 
I have hearing aids, English is my first language and I STILL have problems understanding people in the MDRs. I totally get the way your husband feels. Go online or on the app. Under “Next Steps” and “Special Requests” there is the ability to request a private table. We do it every cruise and it’s great.
 

I know that DCL will do everything that they can to honor your request for a private table but remember it is only a request and if it is that important you should go to the designated area on embarkment day to confirm you are seated at a private table. You don't mention which ship you are sailing on. We just got off the Wish in November and I wear hearing aids and have trouble hearing conversations in restaurants. Especially on the Wish even if you do get a private table the tables are so close together that the next table might only be a few inches apart. The wait staff has difficulty going between the tables depending on the table location. The noise level of some of the restaurants, especially Arendelle was in my opinion so loud it was hard to hold a discussion. We enjoyed the dining rooms on the older ships much more. So much so that for our next cruise we are considering skipping the MDR's because of how loud they were and how close together the tables are. Just mentioning this so you are prepared of what to expect.

Or to be informed that there ARE NOT any tables available to move you to. It happens! Happened to me when I went to check after the first time I got seated with others - the dining captain I spoke with was very nice and apologetic, but it was a completely sold out cruise and there were no tables to move me to - at either seating with any rotation. Believe me, I politely asked.

Just be aware that even going to speak with them will not enable them to make a table or create a space where none exist if the sailing is full.

This is true. I once went to verify that I had a private table and was told as of now you do but that could change depending on the requests they receive during the day.
 
You can request it in the app under special requests but at this late date it may or may not be granted.
We’ve been told that the dining team actually assigns the tables about a week out so as long as you’ve got everything in by then you’re okay (ours was linking dining reservations).

Yes but I have been told they assign requests in order received- meaning if a lot of people requested single tables ahead of you there might not be enough for everyone to get one.
