Dinning Package and DVC ownership

I Just found out that as of january 3 2006 dvc members will be able to get dining plan with their reservation. Anyone have more news on this. I have rented points before but the last time we went we tried the meal plan and my husband won't settle for anything less. Now that the dining plan is able to be book I would be interested in renting points for two studio rooms in June. Do you play for the meal plan when the ressie is confirmed. Do you have a period of time to pay for it. If anyone can help please let me know.

The exect details have not yet been released officially. Here is what is reported so far...take it with a grain of salt until there is "official" confirmation.

DVC members can begin making arrangements for the dining plan in January for stays after April 1st. Arrngement must be made through Member services. You will pay for the dining plan when you check into your resort, but the plan MUST be on the ressie prior to your arrival. It will not matter what type of park admission ticket you have. Other rules are similar to the current plan rules, the plan must be for your entire stay, and all people in the room must be on the plan.

However, they could limit it to DVC members and make the member show their blue membership card. In that case, it would not be available to a person who did not go with the member. Not enough information yet.

I had to make a few more reservations for my upcoming trip in March and the dining CM asked me if I knew about the new dining plan offered to DVC members starting in April '06 and I said no.. He said it was $39 for adults (10 and up) and that gave you 1 sit down, 1 counter service, and 1 snack per day...

It will be very interesting to see how the program goes...

I will be renting points and I can't wait for the official notice. My friend is booking my ressie the first week of Jan (for my December trip) and she will be adding the meal plan for me. As far as we have heard, it is for renters staying on points, too.

Now I could be wrong but from what the CM told me on the phone at Disney Dining was they will start taking reservations for the meal plan for reservations starting after the first of April...
