Dinner suggestions?

December 23 we will be at MK. Plan to be there at RD. Lunch reservation at BOG at 11:45. We'd like to take a break and go to our hotel (AKL) in the afternoon for a bit. We plan to focus on Fantasyland and Tomorrowland.
Then we have a dessert party at 7:45 at MK and then fireworks.
My question is where we should go for supper-- we already have reservations at Boma and Saana and so we thought we'd eat somewhere other than our resort. Any suggestions? I'm a bit unsure of how much time to allow. Would we have time to go to another resort? Or is it best to do another MK meal?
Kids are 3 and 8. We have the dining plan. I appreciate your input (and I know reservations will be slim pickings this late but I've had so much luck with reservation finder that I'm not giving up hope!!)

I would do an MK or surrounding resort meal. Crystal Palace, Ohana, 1900 Park Fare, or Whispering Canyon Cafe would be my recommendations.

Thanks! What time do you think we'd need to try to book to allow time to get back for dessert party? This is all new to me haha!

It might be tough to make it to another resort with that timetable, unless you're driving or using a rideshare service. Typically, you're supposed to allow 90 minutes to get from one resort to another if using only Disney transportation, since you have to go to a theme park first.

Because you're going to a dessert party that night, I wouldn't want to overdo it at dinner, either.

I know it's not that exciting, but we enjoyed eating at The Plaza on Main Street. It's convenient to where you'll be at the Magic Kingdom, and probably an easier reservation to get, compared to some of the other restaurants. Just a thought!

Do you guys think this would work?
RD at MK. Focus on fantasyland and tomorrow land. Lunch at BOG at 11:45. Then either do a FP ride after lunch and then head to AKL for a break or leave right after lunch. Return for 4:00 Liberty Tree dinner. 7:45 dessert party and then fireworks.
Do you think this allows enough travel time and time for an actual test at the hotel or will we get there and have to head right back?
Also-- liberty tree-- good? Bad?

I'd push back that reservation to 5:00, if I were you. Traveling to and from the parks always takes longer than you think it will, and so does walking inside MK when it's Christmas week, especially.

I've never eaten at Liberty Tree, but I remember reading a review saying that the food was much improved and quite tasty. For what it's worth. :D

I think you'll basically be stopping to take a breath and then heading right back to the park. There isn't enough time for a true rest. Plus if you eat lunch at 12 are you really going to be hungry for dinner at 4? I think you keep lunch, leave after your ride then come back to your resort to rest, maybe get a snack from The Mara? Then be on the bus to the park by 6-630. I don't think a table service dinner will benefit you on this day.

Why not try Sleepy Hollow refreshments for a light dinner? Or some other snacky type quick service (hot dog, etc). Seems like a waste of a table service meal since you won’t really want dessert. So I’d opt for eating “big” at lunch and doing small QS for dinner.

That just isn't enough time to rest at all. You most likely won't be getting out of BOG until 12:30/12:45 pm (it's SO busy at lunch) and even if you leave right after, you are looking at being back at AKL (if you're lucky) around 1:45 pm. You would need to be at the AKL at 2:45 pm at the latest to get back for a 4:00 pm LTT reservation.

Are you doing the plaza viewing or terrace viewing for the dessert party? If it's plaza viewing, you really don't need to be there right at 7:45 pm. In fact, I recommend being late (15 - 20 minutes late). The buffet gets swamped when the party starts. We found it's so much nicer to get there later when the buffet crowd dies down and we have a better chance at being seated on the mid-mezzanine level (right above the terrace viewers). It's much quieter than the upper level.

If you HAVE to have a TS that night, I would make an ADR in MK for 5:45/6:00 pm and I wouldn't do LTT - it's just too much food. That gives you plenty of time to rest at AKL, get back for your meal, eat something light and go to the party. If you are willing to do QS again, you can play this by ear a little more and either eat at the Mara at AKL or at a QS in MK. We ate at Cosmic Ray's before our dessert party in August and DS9 and I just split a salad and a sandwich. It worked out just fine.

We're doing the Plaza Garden viewing. So the one where you go watch in the little fenced-off area (I'm such a newbie haha). So for this one we can be a bit late...?

We definitely don't need to to TS. Dumb question but if we did QS in MK we don't book that in advance, do we?

Thanks for your help!

Nope! The only one you have to book ahead of time is Be Our Guest

No booking required for qs :)

IMHO with lunch at BOG and a dessert party you just pick up something light for dinner. How about a turkey leg. One of those will feed a family of 5 or 6. :)

So here's what I'd do. Go back to the resort like you planned and make reservations for dinner at either The Wave or Kona Cafe for 5:00 (those are currently available, and I'd reserve them now - you can always cancel if you change your mind). Then jump on the monorail after dinner and head over to MK. You probably won't want to eat a ton of desserts after that dinner but the desserts at the party aren't meant to be a meal (at least in my mind). Take a cab or Uber/Lyft from AKL to Contemporary - a cab will cost $20, Uber/Lyft about half that, and it is about a 10-15 minute ride, so you can leave around 4:30 for your 5:00 reservation, which should give you several hours at the resort.
