Dinner Shows... Which would you choose?

Any advice would be appreciated! We will be going to Disney in October with DD10, DS7. As we have done character dining with prior stays, we were wondering if a dinner show might be a good, different alternative. We will be staying offsite, so will not be utlizing Disney Dining.

1. For a 5 day stay is it worth the time away from the parks to schedule a dinner show? Is the entertainment of the show worth the cost?

2. For a 10 and 7 year old what show would you choose? Hoop Dee Doo Revue? Spirit of Aloha?
