Dinner plate

We use the Corelle dinner plates for any meal of meat and potatoes. We use the luncheon plate for any meal that is a casserole, pasta or sandwich (including tacos in the sandwich category).
A couple Thanksgivings ago our supermarket had a sale $20 for plain white 10pc Corelle sets-
Four 11" Plates
Four small bowls
Two big serving bowls (these are also sold separately for $9 each)

So I bought 2 sets. The 4 serving bowls double as great pasta or soup bowls. You can drop them from ten feet and they dont break and they fit so nice in dishwasher. Versatile, functional, unbreakable, stack thin in the cabinet, under $50 and they let the food be the star as it should be :) Love them!

I like having a good stack of Corelle plates and stopped buying paper plates, even outside for BBQ because they're really hard to break. Added a 6pk of small white ramekins from Homegoods for $6 perfect for sauces or runny sides. I absolutely love these too. Very versatile for everyday use.

We use the lunch plates, they’re 8.5. As others have mentioned when I was losing weight I started using a smaller plate and then replaced my dishes specifically for those lunch plates. My kids were still small at the time so they naturally used them too. Only DH used the dinner plates but he also switched to the lunch plates a couple years ago. We use the dinner plates for platters and at Thanksgiving/Christmas.

Y'all are still using plates? Here we've resorted to eating Mac 'n Cheese directly out of the pot using giant wooden spoons.. No one's going to be judging you these days! :scared:

Totally depends on what we are eating, but for a full dinner (like roast beef with the fixins) my wife and I use 9 inch plates and my boys use 11.5 inch plates. We bought bigger plates for my boys. They are much larger human beings than my wife and I.
Sheesh, roast beef? I use my 24 inch pizza pan :rotfl2:

According to the IKEA website, mine are 10 3/4. The smaller plates of the set are 8 inches.

Mine are 10.5 inches. I use those for dinner. For lunch, I use the much smaller "snack size" plates (1/2 the size maybe?) so the whole meal looks "bigger." LOL. It's amazing how much more satisfied you feel eating from a "full" plate than a 1/2 full larger plate.

If I’m using a plate it’s always the medium size one (I guess what people are calling a salad plate ). My favourite dish to use though is a shallow bowl. I Much prefer them to plates for some reason.

I don’t know why the pic turned sideways but they look like this and are from costco
We use "pasta bowls" like these a lot too. They work great for pretty much everything. The diameter is the same as our lunch size plate, but they feel more substantial. My husband wasn't originally a fan, but has converted. He would freak out if I gave him a lunch sized plate at dinner. He has trouble maintaining his weight UP to a normal range so I'm not going to put out something that makes him eat less!

Yes they are the same diameter as a lunch plate but you can fill them more because it’s more like a bowl, I love them for pretty much everything and I feel your husband, I also have trouble maintaining a normal weight, it took my over a year to put on 10 pounds and I lost it all this past month because of stress and I’m not happy about it.
