Seriously. Most of my sleeveless tanks are quite dressy looking and frankly would look nicer at dinner. Are they really that picky? Because everything else is pretty much a TShirt. That's fine, I'm a rule follower, but I'd look better for dinner in the dressy tanks.

This sounds a lot like our summer interns "but these sandals were $150 at Nordstrom"

Too bad - they are still against dress code...

As many will tell you, DCL does not enforce the dress code in the MDRs. So you can make your own decision.

I have very dressy sleeveless tops that aren't tank tops (think beading $50/$75 shirts, I sometimes wear them to work in a professional office setting) that are perfectly fine for dinner. I pair them with black pants and am all set. I also bring one really light little cardigan just in case I get cold since sometimes it's a little chilly after being in the sun all day.

I am wearing one right now at work (i do put a light sweater over it) and i am planning on wearing it in the MDR with the sweater (i tend to get cold after dinner no clue why) There is a difference between a dressy sleeveless top and a spaghetti strap tank top or a wife beater type one that mean wear those are most def. not allowed(or aren't supposed to be allowed).

I completely agree with the above.

I'll have a suitcase filled with dressy sleeveless shirts for my upcoming cruise.

Don't sweat it.

Now you know everyone responding is taking for granted that dskib is a girl. Is your responses the same if dskib is a boy telling you "HIS" tank tops are dressy?

This didn't even occur to me last summer when I started buying stuff for our intended (and now happening) cruise this summer. (I'm not one that has to have the latest fashions, so I bought a dress or two each month to stock up.) And pretty much every dress I bought is sleeveless. Hmmm...

I have never seen a "dressy" tank top for a guy. I think the equivalent is a short sleeve dress shirt. One of those double standard things, don't think many people would enjoy a guy's exposed arm pits across the table at dinner.

Don't know I've ever seen a dressy men's tank. Just sayin'.

You're not supposed to wear sleeveless/strapless in the MDRs??? That's news to me but then I haven't read all the guidelines, suggestions, rules, whatever. I wear sundresses & maxi dresses that are all free of sleeves or straps. They look nice. It's not a swimsuit cover. It's not a tshirt. Looks nice, definitely "cruise casual" to me. Didn't even realize real world standards might not apply on the Disney ships.

Thanks for the laugh, You made me think of Richard Simmons.
He has some pretty fancy tanks. LOL :rotfl2:
I am a woman who personally doesn't care for the sleeveless dress tops.
That being said it seems almost impossible sometimes to find some that aren't, they are very popular.

I would call a sleeveless shirt that is dressy a sleeveless shell. Those are fine for a nice dinner.

Ready for Dinner.... :lmao::rotfl2:

I was thinking the same because I have many maxi style dresses with tank tops or even spaghetti straps, but they are perfect "cruise casual." ..... I am one of these that kind of wishes dress codes were enforced a bit and I think these dressy sleeveless tops/dresses will be perfect.

But a wife beater.... ummmm no! ha!:lmao:

You will be fine.

Honestly the Disney dress code is more of a 'suggestion' then an 'enforcement' This just allows them to say "UH NO" when you show up in a swim suit top:rotfl:

So a sundress or maxi-dress is ok?

What about at Palo? I have a really pretty, dressy dress I got for my running club awards banquet, but it's sleeveless. Will I be allowed to wear it?

All of my dresses were sundresses, maxi-dresses or otherwise sleeveless on our three cruises. I've never had a problem. My formal and semi-formal attire was also sleeveless. Do bring a cute little sweater though, I was always cold in the theater and at dinner.

Ok...nobody ever said sleevless is against the dress code policy...not sure where people are getting that idea.

This is from the DCL website:

Onboard Dining
QuestionWhat should I wear to dinner?Answer
Dining Dress requirements vary by venue or theme night on your cruise. In general, most meals are "Cruise Casual"no shorts, swimwear or tank tops. Most cruises also have special theme nights with additional attire requirements. Here's a breakdown of these events by cruise itinerary.

On 3-night cruises:
"One cruise casual nightno shorts, swimwear or tank tops
"One pirate or tropical night (deck party)
"One "dress-up night"jacket for men, dress or pantsuit for women

On 4-night cruises:
"First night: cruise casualno shorts, swimwear or tank tops
"One pirate or tropical night (deck party)
"One "dress-up night"jacket for men, dress or pantsuit for women
"Final night: cruise casualno shorts, swimwear or tank tops

On 7-night cruises:
"First night: cruise casualno shorts, swimwear or tank tops
"Three additional "cruise casual" nightsno shorts, swimwear or tank tops
"One pirate or tropical night (deck party)
"One formal and one semi-formal nightformal wear for men: tuxedo or suit; for women: gown or dress; semi-formal wear for men: suit/jacket; for women: dress or pantsuit.

Dress code at Palo on all cruises:
"Men: dress pants and shirt or jacket
"Women: dress or pantsuit
"Please no jeans, shorts, capri pants, flip-flops or tennis shoes

Dress code at Remy on all cruises:
"A tuxedo or jacket (sports or suit jacket) is required with dress pants for men. Ties are optional.
"A cocktail dress, pant suit or skirt/blouse is required for women.
"Please no jeans, shorts, capri pants, flip-flops or tennis shoes.

Bolding above is mine.....since "tank top" can mean different things to different people, my sense of "tank top" is a wife beater (as shown in the pic posted by "MickandNick" or one of those low cut side tank tops types that life guards wear). I can't imagine DCL ever uttering or printing the words "no wife beaters allowed" so they say "tank top". As I said this is my interpretation since specifics are not mentioned....others may have different interpretations. Common sense dictates that no one wants to see hairy armpits at dinner or tons of cleavage or other body bits hanging out at dinner for that matter. Decorum is key.

Just to clarify the sleeveless issue on Disneys website is to "sleeveless tank tops" only. Dresses are not included in there and are completely fine. I reiterate others posts too that my understanding of that rule is for the type of tank top you would wear to a wash your car, to a sporting event or day at the park and do not refer to the sleeveless dress shirts that are in fashion now for women.
