We were first time diners at the Maya Grill (CSR) last night.

I called an hour before to make ADR. That step certainly was not necessary. The place was mostly empty. First. I strongly suggest the Maya Grill for those without ADRs, but who want a good, quiet meal. :thumbsup2

We arrived at CSR around 5:30pm, and I had even forgotten where Maya Grill was. I was thinking it was the lounge/bar area, Francisco's. A convention group had just been released and that entire area was PACKED. Must have been a thirsty group. :rotfl2:

Thankful it was not the lounge area ;) , DH reminded me Maya Grill was at the end of the hall, past Pepper Market.

We were seated in a very nice location. The tables are set up where the place would have to be very full to be near other diners. It is a large restaurant, and they had seated guests away from each other. It was a very relaxing meal.

They have a glassed/covered area where guests can see the chef grilling food, similar to the set up at Flying Fish.

The remainder of the decor is very nice too.

The service was good. After ordering we were brought out fresh breads. (two styles) The dipping sauce was VERY good. :goodvibes Fresh green herbs and GARLIC in oil. Did Imention the bread was fresh? ;) And good! :woohoo:

I ate the Beef Tenderloin Tips with sauteed mushroom medley. mmmmmm This came with a choice of potatoes. I selected mashed (as did DH). We don't know what they did to them, but they were darn good. :smooth:
The beef tips were the best I had ever eaten. They obviously were a quality beef tenferloin.

DH ordered Steak and Catch - filet mignon and fresh catch of the day, includes choice of potato and mixed vegetables. The fish was Maui Maui. (Or is that Mahi Mahi? Sorry. I don't know my fish! ;) )

Before he got his meal he thought maybe the steak and/or fish would be small pieces. He was very pleased with both portions. He mentioned several times how good the griled mixed veggies were.

We both commented throughout how good quality our food was, and how relaxful it was to eat at Maya Grill. Anyone who eats on a regular basis at any WDW restaurant knows quiet is not usually used in describing a Disney restaurant.

Our closest dining neighbors were not that close at all. Their family included a little girl. I saw her eating noodles. But I don't know anything past that. But thought I would mention it for those with little ones.

I think Maya Grill is a hidden treasure, and I know we will return. :cheer2:

I have leftovers in the frig that will make a great meal for me! :yay:

We enjoyed our meal there too. All of our entrees had plantains which were excellent and our kids ordered flatiron steaks that were really good. As you mentioned it was a nice quiet meal and a pleasant surprise.

Another Maya Grille fan here. They changed the menu a few years ago, less Latin influenced. I liked the original menu better, but it's still a great restaurant. And, you're right, very quiet and relaxing. My husband's favorite dessert is served there - Churros.

We haven't eaten at Maya Grill in a few years! Sounds good - maybe we'll try it on our next trip!!!

thanks for the links..it sounds yummy to me and although we all love"south of the border food" of pretty much any type it sounds different enough even if it'a not authentic like it used to be( guessing since i never ate there)

although they really already had me at the lamb ::yes::

and hubby will be down at the buffet each morning having his fill of sausage gravy :lmao:
i'm gettin excited and i have a long time to wait still.

sorry i got confused and posted on the wrong thread which is why my above comment makes very litttle sense:rolleyes: but enjoyed your reviews

Thanks for the review. I'm hoping to stay at CSR again later this year and will definitely have to try it out.

Thanks for the review. I made ADRs for Maya Grill a couple of weeks ago for our upcoming trip in May.

Enjoyed reading your review ~ Thanx for posting.

Enjoyed the review!!
While having a quiet meal is a great thing at WDW, it's kinda too bad that the "quiet" part was due to the restaurant being mostly empty.
