Dinner before pirate pals voyage

Hi

I am going to Disney for 9 days with my then 5 year old son for his birthday in August. I have one day kind of up in the air about what we were doing. My original thought was go to Hollywood studios for a 2nd day and eat at Sci Fi. I did book the Pirate Pals Wishes Cruise for that night. Wishes that night is at 10, so we need to be at Contemporary by 8:30.

I am now reconsidering eating at Sci Fi, maybe leave the park that day up to him, and change my reservation to Whispering Canyon for dinner before the cruise?

Thoughts?

Also, if I did that, I currently have a 5:30 at Sci Fi, I can get a 6:30 at Whispering Canyon. Which do you think? And go from dinner wherever we are over to the contemporary. Is that enough time?

6:30 at WC might be pushing it. Have you thought about eating at CR? The Wave is really good, my DD(6) really enjoyed it.

That is probably enough time, but I would keep checking for cancellations and try to get an earlier reservation at WC. I would think your DS would enjoy it more than SF (My DD would).

My wife and I, personally, are eating at The Wave (6:30 ADR, Wishes is at 10) at CR before our Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage in a couple of weeks (spending the say at MK). We figured it was just easier. If you aren't eating at CR, I wouldn't book a meal for any time after 5:45. It would just be pushing it too close for my own comfort. I'd personally rather get to CR an hour early than 10 minutes late. I also hate feeling rushed and having a 6:30 ADR not in CR would make the meal less enjoyable for me (again, that is just me).

Also, just be careful with Sci-Fi. Some of the trailers on the screen could be a little intense for a 5 year old. It's something to consider.

A 6:30 pm WC should be fine. We also ate at The Wave before our P&P cruise - it's really convenient and very good.

Leave the day up to him sounds like a fun idea! Then you can do whatever and still have a dinner later that is planned.
