Hi Folks

We managed to get through to book a cruise for April 12 :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
Can anyone reccommend a nearby restaurant to have dinner before we sail?

Many Thanks :D :D :D

There are some great restaurant's along the boardwalk, have you looked at any of these?

Are you leaving from Boardwalk or Y&BC? When we left on the cruise from the Boardwalk we ate at Flying Fish. It's about a 30 second walk to the end of the pier from the door of the restaurant :).

The Boardwalk offers a wide choice of restaurants , there is also the Cape May Cafe Clam Bake, which is a regular favourite of mine. While it's titled as a "clam bake" there is always plenty of non seafood items on the buffet as well as a kiddies corner. It's also just a short walk to the Swan and Dolphin hotels which also have a number of really good restaurants. Jana and I had a fantastic mean in the Mexican restaurant here. It wasn't cheap but was top quality. On balance, if there is a large number of you including a few kids, I always think the buffets offer the best value and choice. Cape May Cafe is one of the best Disney offers IMHO.

our cruise left from the Yacht and Beach club and we had dinner afterwards at Beaches and Cream. The cruise leaves quite early, so it you wanted to eat before, you would have to get a table quite early. We where at MK and of course running late for the Y&B so had no time for dinner before hand.

I'd also recommend eating afterwards - we had our dinner at Flying Fish Cafe cut short because we ran out of time. Luckily we've eaten there before and since.

What sort of meal do you want? Flying Fish Cafe is one of our favourite WDW restaurants - fine dining with (not surprisingly) a fish bias, although there are plenty of meat options too. Spoodles has never let us down yet - a varied menu including tapas (you can either order one as an appetiser, or several to share and not bother with an entree), pizzas, steaks and gourmet options. We also like the ESPN bar - the food's OK (burgers, cheesy chilli nachos, etc), but the atmosphere's great, especially when there's a game on!

Congratulations on getting a cruise - you'll love it. Last time we did one, our Captain said he was happy for us to bring wine and food aboard. It was a bit late for us as we'd eaten, but I'd consider it if we ever did one again.

Hi Kaylee

We have not looked at restaurants along boardwalk before . It's the first time that we have adventured past the Theme Parks and nearly fell of my chair when we got a pontoon boat on the illuminations cruise at epcot:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Robin- we are leaving from the Broadwalk and as Uk Debs mentioned the flying fish we may go there.

Vernon- The Mexcican restaurant sounds wonderful...we would love to try this when we go on our own but with 3 teenagers l think the flying fish may be more suitable
Thanks again for the info

Flying fish is a really nice "fine dining" restaurant, but it is quite "upmarket" (read expensive) and a little small on the portions. If the kids are reasonably comfortable in that situation and not big eaters you'll probably be ok. For most of the teens I know I'd look at spoodles, cape may and maybe Palio's (Italian) in the Swan or Dolphin as all offer stuff that's more suited to teens tastes ( well the teens I've met anyway LOL :) )

I'd also recommend Spoodles over FF with teens, unless they are gourmet diners. I have one teen (18) who doesn't recognise anything which isn't covered with breadcrumbs and deep fried, and another (15) who has always enjoyed very 'adult' choices (such as mussels, calamari, goat's cheese, olives, etc). Spoodles has options which should suit everyone. FF could prove a little more tricky.

Hi there

Hope you don't mind me chipping in, but I think spoodles would be the better option not only food wise for teenagers, but the atmospher is more lively too.

We have eaten at both places and loved them both, however we found the FF a much more intimate dining experience (me and hubby prefer to go their without our kids, although they are much younger than), it is also more pricey than Spoodles. We normaly dine at spoodles with the kids, lots more menu choice, tapas, pizza, etc not to mention noise.

If you are just wanting a quick meal you can get pizza from the spoodles takeaway counter on the Boardwalk and there are tables outside where you can sit and just watch the world go by.
