Dining with Teens

We just returned from 10 days of eating at Disney with two teens, 14 ds and 13 dd. My son is going on 6' 2" so he eats well. Love those football players. Anyway, we were blessed with free dining but he loved everywhere we went. I would say that they in the past have not liked Japan as we have great Japenese steak houses here in Columbus and it is kind of plain there. They loved the buffets with their favorite being places such as Boma (no characters and a good selection of food), Le Cellier, 50's and Ohana. He was happy anywhere there was burgers for a counter service. I seriously could not afford to feed him at any of the signature restaurants. Our bills would have been (with tip) 195.00 at most of the single sit down places. Put that with the 68-75/day for counter service, we are up to 275 a day with snacks. They both love the characters still so we did a few breakfasts in places and our son even danced with Minnie Mouse, love the pictures, can't wait to show his football team:cheer2:m (I wouldn't do that to him!) Any questions about the food, let me know, would be happy to answer.

My sons not a football player, but he is 17 and 6'2" as well and eats like a house a fire!!! Sounds like they eat the same! Gotta love them growing boys!:rotfl:

Another opinion that agrees with what most of the previous posters say:

My teenage boys favorites:

Le Cellier
50's Prime Time
Sci Fi
ESPN
Earl of Sandwich
Beaches & Cream
Pizza Planet
any of the breakfast buffets

Of course!!!!:goodvibes Here's a pic of me and my kiddos, plus we'll be with my DM and minus DH(he's off to Iraq next month:sad1: again). Our ressie is for 8:55pm. It'll be so nice to finally meet a fellow Dis'er! I'll be taking food pics too for my dining report. Going to start my pre-trippie, a little late obviously, this evening. Be on the lookout!

My boys will still be eating...guaranteed! I have never met a Dis'er in the parks... on the ships yes, but never there. My camera even has a Green Mickey head button that says "Do you Dis? Momsof2boys"

My DD18 likes Crystal Palace (she is an eyore fan even if she doesn't admit it anymore), Biergarten, Rainforest, Beaches and Cream, Wolfgang Puck Express and Planet Hollywood. She has always wanted to go to 50's Prime Time so we are headed there with her in Dec. I don't think she has ever disliked anywhere except maybe Boma. It wasn't her style of seasoning. I usually try to let her pick from the menus but now they all just say, "you pick, mom, anything is fine." :confused3

My teen boys like

Le Cellier
Sci Fi
Boma
Chef Mickey
Wolfgang Puck
Beaches and Cream

Our youngest is now 16. Last year he "suffered" through the Cinderella dinner at the GF for his niece. He actually liked the food, but I don't think he would dare go in there again without the excuse of a darling niece!:rotfl:

He did enjoy the character meals at Chef Mickey's and the Ohana breakfast. But we were there for 12 nights and I think anything more than 3 or 4 character meals in that time period would have seemed excessive to him.

His favorites are: Sci Fi, Rainforest, 50's Prime Time, Ohana, Chef Mickey's, House of Blues, Beaches and Cream, Kona, and Yachtsman Steakhouse. To be perfectly honest, he would be content with strictly counter service and room delivery pizza for every meal! He loved the Riverside Mill at POR last year. They all loved walking the parks, DTD, and the Boardwalk at night and just "grazing"!

As our kids entered their teens, we found they liked to spend more time and eat more meals at Downtown Disney than in the parks or hotels. Our daughter was more adventurous than the boys and character meals didn't "embarrass" her like they do the boys.

I have the same suggestions as most...

Sci Fi
Planet Hollywood
(teen boys may like the "entertainment" in Morrocco :rolleyes1:rotfl: )
Coral Reef
Beaches and Cream
my kids (19 and 15) think 1900 Park Fare looks awesome, either breakfast or dinner, the characters are a hoot
OHana...fun, but not too little kid like
and we all think Sanaa looks cool being able to see the animals, but not sure if the food is to their liking

for volume of food, the counter service in Mexico
Cosmic Ray's for the combo chicken/ribs
Earl of a Sandwich

any buffet...a late breakfast seating is a little lesS $ and can cover like a "brunch"...we do this all the time as my kids are not morning eaters, they grab a pop tart or granola bar, but by 10:30-11...thEy are ready to EAT! The plus of this is we can get out easier in the morning! :thumbsup2
