Hiya,

We're going to sea world during the march break, 11th to 17th. We're not doing wdw this time so we'll likely go to sea world a few times for a part day.

Has anyone done the dining with Shamu? Is it worth the money? How close were you to the orcas? Was there any interaction? How is the food?

We are a 30ish couple with a 4 year old son who loves animals... if it's an awesome experience, I'll spend the money but if not I'd rather drive over to Boma and eat there. :)

Thanks! pixiedust:

Beth :)

I did this program and it was the best part of the day!! Despite the pouring rain that we had to stand in before it started :scared: There is no interaction between you and the orcas but the trainers put on a show and there is lots of opps to talk to them personally. You sit right next to the pools so VERY close. The food was really good too. It was buffett style. Very good exp and I would do it again in a heartbeat :teeth:

It was a GREAT experience and I would HIGHLY recommend doing it. Your little one will love it. Make sure you bring your camera. You're so close to the whales you can really get some great pix.

I just read about this. I would love to do this when we hit Sea World on dd's wish trip in a couple of months! She is 8, has Down syndrome and leukemia. She wants to be a dolphin trainer when she grows up! This dinner would be perfect for her!

Thanks for all the input! I have booked it and ds4 is super excited. I hope we get a good table.

I have not done the dine with shamu but have ressies for the 26th!So glad you all had a great time!Last month we did the Luau!and thought it was a good show and the food was also much better than i had expected!Beware your first drink is on them then you pay ;) The show was better than the Disney luau imho. And a picture op after the end,Kids got to go up and learn to dance and a few of the guys got to come up for some good natured ribbing as they played the war drums.

I just booked this! What I'm wondering is what time is the first seating??? They didn't offer us any times to choose from, only the first seating?

Thanks for the details about the luau! :thumbsup2 We were thinking about going to one of the luau's on our next trip - my mum still talks about when I was little (many, many years ago!) and I got to go and dance with the performers at the "Hawaiian Rhythms" show at Sea World. She would love to take my DD to see this type of show as she loves to dance! :goodvibes

We were also considering the "Dine with Shamu" dinner, too - decisions, decisions!

When I called for our reservations, I was told that times may vary depending on what is going on at the Shamu stadium. She said that during construction, they have had first seatings as early as 4:00. We were told to check in when we get to the park to get our time.

Thanks! Will you report in when you get back as to how it was??

Oh, yes, I certainly will report back in! I am so excited about this dinner. I am having a hard time keeping it secret from my kids!!

We did it back in May and LOVED it!! There isn't a bad table in the place. All tables are up against the pool area. You get to hear the trainer talk about some neat things and get a little insight into the relationship between the trainer and the orca. We are planning on doing it again when we go next year. You son will love it! Have a great trip!
