Dining With A Large Family????????

DEC. 16 thru the 22 we are going to Disney with myself, DH, DDs 8,13, DN(iece) 11, and DN(ephews) 11,12. I am concerned about table service for seven. We have been a couple times before with just our family on the DDP but this is a first with a larger than four group. Any help or tips from larger families appreciated...

We were a family of 8 on our last big trip. We had both sets of grandparents, DH & myself, and our 2 young sons.

We had no problem getting a table to fit us all at LTT. We did have to wait about ½ hour to be seated for lunch though. At the Sci-Fi they booked 2 cars and we had them next to each other. We were seated in the first to rows of both cars.

While we weren't a party of 8 at WCC there were tables that accommodated bigger parties.

Sorry I can't help with the rest. One place I would NOT suggest for a party of 7 is the Garden Grill. They have only a couple of booths that will accommodate a larger party and if someone requests these booths (even though they may only be a party of 4) the CMs will grant their request. That is what happened to us and we were stuck in 2 booths (4 in each) and not able to see or talk to each other. They informed us that was their "policy" when we asked why they would seat someone in that large of a booth when they did not need it.

On most trips we're a aprty of 6 and sometimes a party of 8. I don't think you'll have any problems. We usually don't. However, do be prepared to wait a little longer than usual to be seated. You can arrive earlier than your reservation if you want to try to get seated closer to your reservation time. If my memory is right, we've eaten everywhere you list except LTT and WCC as a party of 8. Have a great vacation!

We've gone with groups of 6, 7 and most recently 10. We've never had any problems. Even on this last trip with a party of 10, we were always seated together. One exception was CRT. We were a party of 8 that day and had to make ADR's for 2 parties of 4. However, they seated us right next to each other so it didn't really feel like we were separated.

The only places on your list that we've eaten at are Le Cellier and WCC. We were a party of 6 at those places and never had any problems at all.

Same here we were a party of 10 and not a problem anywhere~ I think most places do there best to seat you all togther!

We have 5 children, so we are always a party of 7 and have never had a problem eating together at Disney. The only place they said we might have to take 2 tables was at Le Celliers, but they have always put us at one!

The great CM who made our ADR's was having dificulty booking for our party of 7, so she split us into 2 tables/ressies 5 minutes apart. She suggested we arrive early and tell the CM about our group and that most times they would be able to seat us together.

She was so helpful and I didn't write down her name I wanted to let someone know how wonderful and patient she was with me

We were part of a grand gathering last Thanksgiving & had between 10 & 15 people at a TS meal. In all cases they booked us at 2-3 tables, but this is how it played out. Jiko at AKL 2 tables, Olivia's at OKW 1 table, California Grill 1 table, & Wolfgang Puck cafe at DTD 1 table. The places that might have been a problem because the tables seemed to be no bigger than for 8 were at the Biergarten & Chefs de France in EC, but we had split into 2 groups for that meal. most of the places have small tables & they just pushed as many as we needed together.

we had a large party (2 tables) at LTT and it was terrible, when we arrived they put us at a raised area across from the staircase with 4 tables. they REFUSED to give us 2 tables that were next to each other, instead we were across the room from each other and all of the tables were empty when we were seated.

of course the kids wanted to be together, so i spent the entire dinner running back and forth, helping them to serve the food, etc.

next time we're also going to be 7 but the kids can sit alone, they are old enough now. so if we get split up it will be fine.

With six kids we are always a seating of eight. We were told at LTT that we would be put at two tables but when we arrived they put us at one. At the Coral Reef the booths for larger parties are farther away from the aquarium but it is still a great view. O'Hana's we've always been seated together. The only other place was the Sci-Fi and they put us at two car side by side.

We're generally a party of 7, and have been to all of the restaurants on your list. I don't think we've ever had to split tables at Disney World...The only gripe I have is with regards to bread, & all-you-can eat meals (like at LTT & the skillet at WCC). Sometimes we've had great waiters who bring more bread and stuff as soon as they see it's gone, but then there have been times (at LTT last summer) when the waitress seemed kinda stingy or slow about bringing more rolls. I mean, we're a big party & if there are only 5 rolls in the basket, they should know we're going to ask for more!!

But that depends on the waiter you get, and usually they're okay. Tables, though, have always been fine for us w/ an ADR. Hope you have a great time!

Thanks for all of the information. I was getting a bit frantic but I think I can relax a little now. Unfortunately, I am an overplanner and with vacation not until December I am sure I will find another thing to worry about.

Party of 8--we ate at Spoodles, LTT, Ohana, MM, Boma, WC, LE Cellier and Sci Fi. No problems. We did make reservations no later than 5:40 though.

We will be vacationing in January with my Mom & my brother's family. There will be 10 of us!
We usually eat dinner around 5pm, so hopefully we won't have any problem. I usually make my ADR's as soon as my "time frame" comes up...maybe that will help also.
