Dining service slow

We sailed 12/04 on the Magic. I would not say our service was slow at all and we had a party of 10 and two small children. I thought everything was fine. If you are not accustomed to eating in courses, then request all your food be brought at once. I saw other tables doing this.

If you can do this, what about the others' at your table? would they still be served in courses?

I don't see why not. Most items are plated ahead of time. You should just ask. We had a couple next to us with two kids. They sat down at 6pm and got their salad and entree at the same time and then left They were in and out in less than 30 minutes every night.

A few years ago I was on the 3 day Wonder, the server was HORRIBLE,he was slow, we are not a demanding group, but everything seemed to be a bother. We had ordered a bottle of wine with dinner her couldn't even open it! Then came the night of tip night. He all of sudden came alive. That was the first time I saw a smile.

Two years ago I was on the 4 day Wonder, the server was very good, made meal selection suggestions and was friendly yet very efficient. The last night of the cruise they both (server and assist) stayed with us talking about their home land, what they liked and disliked about working for Disney. It was a very interesting conversation. The assist looked like Luka on ER.

We were on the 4/16 7 day magic. We had the early seating and it went very fast. We were 5 at our own table with a 7 and an 11 year old. Kids never had time to get restless. Our servers were excellent. Sandor and Denis. The kids meals came first. We usually finished by 7:15 - 7:30. I've heard the late seating tends to be slower.

We got late seating (not by choice) but had awesome servers with Marjan and Jan. We also found if we were one of the first parties to be seated (they usually began seating at 8:15), our food arrived much faster. Our kids are older (9 and 12) and had planned to eat with the kid's club most nights, but decided to eat with us instead because they enjoyed ordering smoothies, and food from the "adult" menu. Our servers treated them like grown-ups, which they really liked.

Also keep in mind the "show" portion of the dinner (Animator's and Pirate Night, for instance) keeps the whole process going longer. We were done eating by then and could have gotten up and left, but decided to stay.

HI, I WISH THE BUFFET WAS OPEN EVERY NIGHT FOR DINNER SO FAMILIES COULD CHOOSE BETWEEN THE SIT DOWN DINNERS AND THE BUFFET-IT TOOK WAY TOO LONG FOR US WITH OUR 5 YEAR OLD SON SO WE ORDERED ROOM SERVICE AND ATE BURGERS AND PIZZA ALOT. THANKS,LISA :bounce: :bounce:

On The Magic Topsiders is open at night for a more casual dining experience. We have never gone there but lots of people on the boards have and give positive reviews.

No, dinner definitely takes longer than an hour but you have to realize that they are serving four courses. We have always had great table mates and it doesn't seem like that long. We talked the entire time and didn't have much time in between courses. Our servers were always visible though if we needed anything. We have had early seating also. The kids have stayed with us for the entire meal and done very well. A few nights I asked for their food to be brought out right away & DS was ready to go to the club after desert at 6:45 and when I get back to the dining room our entres were just being brought out. We enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.

Lisa - I agree with you. Great table mates make all the difference. On the 10 day we had one little boy at our table. He would get his main meal while we were on the first course. When he finished his mom would take him up to the club and seemed to get back just as our main course was being served. It worked out great. Dinner with our DIS friends was some of our best memories of the cruise. BTW - we had 6 tables of DIS'ers (including ours) it was great!
