Dining Review Virgin - sorry no pics 4/6-/4/12

Wednesday, April 9th - A solo day for me today at the Magic Kingdom. :wizard: Breakfast was the same, boring, I know but once I find something I like, I tend to stick with it. On this day, my stomach started grumbling early and the Figaro Fries :worship: were calling out to me. So I get in line at Pinnochios Village Haus, checking out the menu and I was planning on getting the Turkey Panini, but then I just had a bad experience with the Turkey Sandwich yesterday at HS, so I decided to just get the Figaro Fries :worship: . I ventured upstairs to perhaps get seating to view It's A Small World, but they were full so I noticed some seating outside upstairs with a view of the Castle and Dumbo and I had the entire place to myself to enjoy my Figaro Fries:worship: Yes they are my favorite snack in the world. This is really a nice spot to people watch. Later in the day as I was preparing to find a spot on Main Street to watch the afternoon parade, I popped in to Main Street Bakery and grabbed a Fruit and Cheese Plate and a Frozen Strawberry Smoothie. I had not made any adrs for this evening so dh and I wandered over to the Boardwalk and decided to stop at the Big River Grille and Brewing Works. There was no wait without an adr about 5:45 p.m. and we decided to sit outside. Dh had the Rocket Red Ale and I opted for and Iced Tea. We both had the Beer Cheese Soup for an appetizer. It was quite tastey and really thick. Not sure how this compares to Le Cellier, as we have never been there, but we both enjoyed this soup. For our entrees, dh went with the Grilled Chicken Cashew Salad and I got the Blackened Mahi Mahi Sandwich. The salad was nice size for an entree and came with plenty of chicken and cashews, which dh picked out leaving a few greens. My sandwich was just so-so, the bun was larger than the fish, and I just hate when you take a bite into a sandwich and all you get is bun, and in my opinion it could have used some more of the Chipotloe Mayo. We would probably not come back here again, I really don't remember hearing to much about this place, so perhaps if planning to go here, I would look for more reviews. After dinner we decided to browse the Boardwalk some more and stopped at the Boardwalk Bakery and each got a Peanut Caramel Apple  to take back to the hotel for our dessert.

Hope you guys are still with me...

Thursday, April 10th - This morning dh wanted to take a walk back to the Boardwalk Bakery for breakfast and to be honest I don't remember at all what he had. For me, it was the usual. My park today was Epcot again and as soon as World Showcase opened I went straight to Norway and the Kringla Bakery to get me a Sweet Pretzel with Almonds. :cool1: This is probably my second favorite snack and I recommend everyone try it.:thumbsup2 After exploring all of WS, I found myself drawn into Tangeriene Cafe since I have read so many positive reviews. I felt so bad for the cast member working one of the registers there was a guest there who apparently didn't know how to use her ddp credits and wanted each credit off each individual card, after she had placed all the orders and the girls had to redo the whole order. Anyway, I ordered the Chicken Mediterranean Wrap with Tangeriene Couscous and Lentil Salad. I loved :lovestruc the wrap and couscous, lentil salad :confused3 so-so. This will be a regular stop for me from now on, I can't believe it took me so long to try it. This evening dh and I had adrs for 6:35 p.m. at Rose and Crown, we checked in about 6:15 p.m. and were seated within 5 minutes. We had a lovely table outside and a very sweet server. Dh decided to try the Beer Flight and I also had a drink, but I can't remember the name, something with orange juice, sorry it's just not coming to me this morning. We ordered the Potatoe Leek soup for appetizer and it was thicker than the soup we had earlier in the week at Biergarten, which is how I like it. It went well with the fresh rolls and butter. We both picked the Fish and Chips and were not disappointed with our choice. For dessert we shared, well not really share, I did allow dh a bite or two  of the Sticky Toffee Pudding. By the end of this dinner I felt like I needed to be rolled out of the WS. We stayed for Illuminations this evening and dh had to have some Disney Popcorn, but I was still too full from dinner to partake.

Tomorrow...Flame Tree BBQ and Boma

Hey, you're doing a great job on the reviews. :thumbsup2

I wasn't crazy about the potato leek soup at the Biergarten, but loved everything else I tried there.

We had a ham-potato-leek soup at Chef Mickey's the same week that was to-die-for. It was thick and wonderfully flavored with fresh cream and butter. Mentioning it in case you go there with your kids next trip.

Everything sounds good! I'm looking forward to trying one of those sweet pretzels in June!!

Friday, April 11th - Breakfast today, I ventured out of the ordinary and went for the fruit cup, adventurous I know :lmao:. Took the bus the AK, now I have never been a big AK fan, but I must say that doing this park solo, put a whole new look on it. It always seemed so crowded and hot, and even though it was a little crowded and hot, I thoroughly enjoyed it, perhaps because I was able to ride EE 4 times, but on to the food. The last time we ate in AK was at Tusker House when it was still a counter service, and how I loved the salmon. This time I went with the stellar reviews here and tried Flame Tree BBQ. I ordered the Pork Sandwich with baked beans. The sandwich had plenty of meat, which was a plus, but could have used some bbq sauce in my opinion, as it was just a bit dry. Beans were hot and not bad. The high point for me at this counter service was the view of EE. Once you get your food, take the trail to the right and stay right until the end, there is a wonderful view to eat your meal. After exploring and watching Nemo, :lovestruc loved it:lovestruc , had to grab a frozen banana. Dh was out of his conference early today and met me at the park to do a few attractions then we took the bus to AK Lodge for our dinner at Boma, a first for the both of us. We arrived at the Lodge about 6:15, but our adr was for 7:05, so we took a walk around checked out the Savannah, the pool area and then checked in for our adr about 6:40, we were seated in less than 5 minutes. Wow, what a buffet this is, started with some salads, watermelon rind, which I really liked, dh did not find it all that appealing, however he enjoyed the pasta salad, and not myself. Tried a few other cold things, all nice and then the Butternut Squash soup. I loved the soup, dh thought it too sweet for his taste. The line for the meats was extremely long, but we joined in. I believe we tried at least a bite of everything in the line :cool1: My favs, tabootie (I think I got that right), the Pork, Potatoes with Afritude, the mix of sweet potatoe and mash potatoe - can't remember what it was called. And then the desserts, well I had to try the infamous Zebra Domes, and I apologize now, but I just don't see what the hoopla is :confused3 Also, had some type of cheesecake bites and a fruit tart that was yummy. Overall, I enjoyed Boma, but I have to agree with some previous posts I read, it is extremely loud.

Next up...departure day, lunch at Wolfgang Puck Express

Great reviews- i just started my very first Dining review and some of the similarities are uncanny- for instance DH and I had the exact meal at rose & crown- except I went one step further and had a dessert as well- dh had the sticky toffe whcih was so yummm- i had the frozen vanilla custard with rasperry icee stuff on top- cant remember the exact name- anyhow we also sat outside- so when I was reading your review it took me right back there!

I too enjoyed Prime time- but want to save all the good stuff for my reviews-
I am staying tuned to see what you got at WPE- possibly the bbq quesadilla maybe..... hmmmm?

Ok, you are scaring me just a little as I did have the bbq quesadilla :rotfl2: Perhaps we were separated at birth :lmao: Thanks for reading.

Sorry for the delay, on to the final day, always sad for me :sad2:

Saturday, April 12th - To be honest, I have no idea what we did for breakfast this morning, since I was busy packing up, I imagine dh went and grabbed coffee and croissants. Then we took the bus to Downtown Disney to do some shopping, since we very well could not come home without souveneers for the kiddos. As we were shopping we stopped by the Vacation Club Information place and decided to take a ride to SSR to get their take on the idea, and while I would love to have taken them up on the offer, I couldn't quite convince dh it was the thing to do, however we will be going back in June, so you never know ;) Afterwards we were quite hungry and decided to try Wolfgang Puck Express and were quite pleased that we did. I ordered the BBQ Chicken Quesdilla and an Iced Tea with a Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookie. Dh decided on the Four Cheese Macaroni and Cheese which came with a small salad and also an Iced Tea and Cookie. This was probably my favorite counter service meal of the trip and I will be sure to stop back here again.

Well this is the end of my dining reviews. Now that I have gotten my feet wet, I will try and keep track of our dining for our trip in June and update you on that when we return. Thanks all for reading. :thumbsup2

Very enjoyable reviews! I would just love to explore WDW all on my own! Do what you want, when you want....
Will look for another good review from you after your June trip!
