Thought I’d offer up some dining highlights of our trip. We (me, DW turning 41 during the trip, DD11) were there 12/1-12/5 staying at BLT. We go every year and have been the first week of Dec during DW’s bday many times, but not since 2007. This is our first of 3 trips over the next year with TIW.

Restaurants

Crystal Palace breakfast – been here many times (for Pooh & gang when DD was younger), plan on going many more as it’s turned probably turned into our favorite breakfast place. We originally planned on an 8:00 ADR for a 9:00 MK opening but Disney extended the hours sometime between when I made the ADR at 6 months out and a week prior when I checked on park hours. We went ahead and stayed with the breakfast for the first hour of park opening – which we’ve never done as park commandos. Breakfast was good for us as usual – love Pooh’s puffed French toast (tastes just like an elephant ear). DD isn’t as in to characters as she was when she was younger, but it did take a while for all 4 to make the rounds as we had just missed the first two when we were seated. Bday cupcake at the end.

Tutto dinner – first time eating here since it was Alfredo’s many years ago. We liked it. Both DW and I had lasagna since DW hasn’t made it for us at home in a couple years (I don’t eat lasagna when made with ricotta). She thought it was a little saucy/not set up at first, but enjoyed it more as she got into it further. DD had a kids alfredo-like pasta that she really liked. The food came out surprisingly fast – maybe 5 minutes after ordering. Some kind of chocolate bday treat at the end. We’ll return to eat her again, but probably not for a few trips.

50s PT lunch – Another that we eat at about every trip. Had a PB&J milkshake for an appetizer. We ordered 2 trifectas (chicken, pot roast, meatloaf) and split it between the 3 of us (DD just ate chicken). Food was good but server saw me dumping all of the veggies (green beans and spinach) on to DW’s plate – so she did the airplane on my with a couple green beans. I haven’t eaten a green bean for over 25 years since my mother forced me to eat them and it was disgusting, but DD and DW got a kick out of it and the horrid faces I made getting the beans down so I played along. We’ll go back, but I’ll be more careful about transferring the veggies out of sight. No bday treat this time.

O’hana dinner – another staple for us. I liked the new check-in process, though I was a little thrown at first (I had casually read about it here but didn’t play that close of attention to it). Food was good outside of the pork which was cooked 10 minutes too long. I like a char on grilled meat, but this was burnt and way dry and overdone. The steak was great though – medium to medium rate pieces available for us. I think DW got a cupcake here at the end. We’ll continue to go and hope we get at least half of the meats cooked correctly (seems there’s always at least one if not two kinds of meat that they overcook).

Cape May dinner – this is my and DD’s favorite restaurant (not just buffet, but restaurant), it might be DW’s too – not sure. DD had her bday dinner here in Aug10, I had my bday here in Oct10, and DW chose to have her bday dinner here in Dec11. By the way, I don’t eat seafood. Dinner food was good, though the ribs seemed less meaty and they may have changed the sauce (not for the better). They’ve altered the dinner rolls to try to mimic the famous Parker house rolls – I loved them with the garlic addition. Desserts were great as always (LOVE oreo bon-bons, might be my favorite dessert at Disney). DW got the bday moose thing at the end. One funny note. As we were finishing an older couple (low to mid 60s?) sat down and were confused by the menu (drink menu). So they asked the server for a menu. The server (ours) told them it was a buffet and that was just a drink menu. The man asked how much it was and the server said $35 and the guy said “I’m not paying $70 for dinner” and they got up and left. I don’t know how they got seated without realizing it was a buffet (not to mention the total cost would have been close to $90 with tax and tip). We’ll be back in March, though it is getting expensive here now that DD is considered an adult (I think it was $110 for the 3 of us – and that’s with TIW).

LTT dessert – I’ve read about the gooey toffee cake on the DIS for years and have never made it to LTT to ever try it (we like desserts). We finally had it (that was all we ordered), and it lived up to its billing. The food part of the menu doesn’t excite us though (we had the character dinner a few years ago), so not sure when we’ll go back.

CS

Yorkshire Fish & Chips – we seem to get this for a lunch/snack about every trip any more. We started with 2 orders between the 3 of us and then went back for a 3rd when DD decided she didn’t want to continue through WS for another snack.

Sunshine Seasons (breakfast) – split a focaccia breakfast sandwich and blueberry/croissant bread pudding. Both were good – nice to have something different here for breakfast. The bread pudding made with croissants was different – DD really liked it (she doesn’t normally eat bread pudding or blueberries, but she does like croissants).

Pirate y Perico or whatever the CS place is across from POC (lunch) – DW wanted a burrito and I was debating on a burrito or a Pecos Bill burger. I should have gone with the burger. The burrito just wasn’t what I was expecting (think Chipotle). The burrito was just folded over – I get why with the fixins bar, but it just wasn’t that good of a tortilla and was hard to eat not being rolled (had to eat with a plastic for and knife). I won’t be going back here – I’ll go to Pecos Bills for CS instead.

Snacks/Treats

DHS villain’s store – Carrot cake cookie for DW (DD and I don’t like it), giant Mickey head choc chip cookie for DD and I.

Epcot Breyer’s ice cream shop – FINALLY a choc chip cookie ice cream sandwich made with decent/not overbaked cookies. Had it with cookie dough ice cream – big thumbs up!

Epcot Karamel Kutch (or whatever that shop is called in Germany) – Caramel/cookie bar (DW LOVED it) and a sea salt dark choc caramel (ok – not that great)

Epcot Fife and Drum – jalapeno cheese pretzel (twice). So glad they have these somewhere other than AK now. They’re all over at DL, they need them in every park at WDW.

MK confectionery – white choc covered caramel apple (snowman). Really liked having the white choc on it.

MK MS ice cream shop – traditional chocolate cone to finish my visit

I know I’m forgetting a few others. We really enjoy our treats when we’re on vacation.

I’d be happy to answer any questions.

Great reviews and thanks for taking the time for posting them:thumbsup2

I have to give you a lot of credit for eating the green beans at 50s PT. I'm not a picky eater but there are some veggies I can't handle:sad2:

Funny story about green beans (actually green bean casserole - which almost makes me throw up just by the smell). When I was about 8 or so we went to a neighbors house and my mom put some of it on my plate. I didn't want to eat it, so I put the green bean casserole under the couch.

The neighbors found it the next day.

Forgot to mention another item...

I have been trying to get a Curly Wurly bar from the UK's tea shop/candy store for a couple years and they finally had them in stock this trip. Glad I finally had one, but as with a lot of things - the memories are better than reliving the real thing. The candy bar was ok - no way worth the $3 though. I can knock another item of my Disney bucket list.

For those not familiar, the Curly Wurly is similar to the old Marathon bar from my childhood (2 caramel strips woven/interwined and enrobed in chocolate).

Was the $35.00 for Cape May the holiday pricing? Have holiday prices kicked in yet? If they have, do you remember how much the Crystal Palace breakfast was, we are scheduled for that one too!!

I don't think holiday pricing was in effect yet - I think that's still a week or so away, though I'm not positive on that. I think $35 is the regular dinner price at Cape May now. When we went last Aug and Oct it was around that same price (maybe $1 or $2 less).

CP breakfast was a bit less - I want to say it was in the low $20s because I think the bill for 3 adults (after TIW) was around $70.

We will be eating at O'hana next Sunday. It has been a few years. What is the new check in procedure?
Thanks

I double checked - CP breakfast was $23/adult (before discount).

They moved the check-in podium over to the far right of the lobby as you enter from the monorail - you don't check in over near the bar any more. And there will be two check-in lines - walk-up diners to the left, ADRs to the right (I've read of people standing in the wrong line when they had an ADR).

And by the way, O'hana dinner was $33/adult (before discount)

I'm sad to hear it wasn't good... but it was OPEN?! Oh my goodness! We have been twice in January, and once in October.. and it is never open. Good or not, it has started to become that mythical place you wonder if is real or not! We will be there in just over a week.... I wonder if it will still be open...

I think this was the first time we've ever seen it open. We too thought their seasonal time was purely a myth.

I bet it will be open in another week - crowds should be increasing as we get closer to xmas week.
