What is the proper procedure for this?

My whole family is coming to our WDW trip next year and we are about to make some reservations.

I suspect that others in the family are not as organized as us and will change their minds in the months to come. (i.e choose different restaurants, ...)

Do I just call back and inform Disney of a smaller party size?

I'm assuming any 'pre-paid' reservations will be refunded if done in time.

This is just a guess, but I can't imagine that if you book a table for 6 and call back to reduce it to a table for four that they will keep you at a larger table. I would think that you would have to start all over again. Like I said that is just a guess. Good luck to you, I hope all your reservations work out in the end.

Yes, we had a group of 14 and called to let them know we were a party of 9 that night. The CM said I would have to cancel the reservation and rebook. Tried to rebook and nothing was available for a party of 9. :confused3

And I dont' think that was an isolated case because my older children didn't want to eat @ PSB dinner. I had to rebook for a totally different time. So you will run the risk of not getting the time or place.

Yep-same here. I was a party of 11-most were even with 2,3 or 4 separate tables. We are now just 5. THey want you to cancel and rebook (nothing is available) So.....It will just make me stick with my original-not let them know and just show up with fewer people?? I don't understand how I can't just keep two tables (I have 2 infants so I could squeeze into 1) and let them rebook the other 1-2 tables??

When I was down last week we showed up with 6 instead of 9 twice(Chefs de France and Toyko Dining) and had no problems!! Cannot help the kids sleeping schedule!!

What about the reverse? I booked for 3 when DH's doctor said he couldn't go. Now there's a remote possibility he CAN...I want to go up to 4. What to do? I am thinking of just waiting. I am staying Club Level at CSR and I was thinking of letting the Club Concierge handle it.

Going up to 4 at a table should not be an issue because they seat 3 people at a table that holds 4. It becomes a problem when you go from 4 to 5.
