Dining Reservation Requirements?

If I want an evening dining reservation inside a park, do i have to make that same park my "park reservation" for that day? We will have park hoppers so we would rather go to one park in the morning and then hop to a different park for evening dining. What are the rules about this? Thanks for your help.

You do not need a park reservation for that park.

However, in the (extremely unlikely) event that park hopping is closed because a park reaches capacity, a dining reservation will not get you inside the gates. Don't worry about this unless you're booking something like New Year's Eve, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, etc.

Currently, you can't park hop until after 2:00 p.m. if available for PH.

MK sometimes has closed to hopping since this went into effect, I've heard, although I think that was in December--not at all unusual for it to close to everyone pre-covid the closer it gets to Christmas or New Year's.

The 2:00 or later limit was a pain on our November trip as we like to hop to eat lunch, shop or simply go elsewhere if we've had enough of the first park.

We sure hope that won't be a permanent restriction for better crowd control. It's rumored that might be.

I asked Disney this same question a few different times in different ways (to be on the safe side) and was told each time that it has only happened ONCE that park hopping was closed. (It happened on the actual day of their 50th anniversary.)

And only at Magic Kingdom, and only for a few hours.
