Dining reservation recommended for January?

Hi guys! I am finally about to return home for the first time in two years.

I have never been to disneyworld in the middle of january, but do you guys think i should make dining reservation already? For the past few times I went I never had to make reservation until the day of.

Alot has changed! At many places, without an ADR made fairly far in advance you're not going to get in. If you're doing mostly lunches and they're in the resorts rather than the parks - then you can wing it. Otherwise, better see what you can get now. You might be surprised to find your favorites aren't possible at this late date.

I just made my last ADR for Sat 1/19 and had no problems getting what I wanted. I would make some choices and make some ADRs ASAP if I were you because they will likely fill up. Have a great trip!

I am going in January as well. At 6 months out - I booked Le Cellier. At 5 months out - I tried to change that reservation and had a very hard time. So - some places will be booked - others will be easy. I just added Sci Fi for lunch last week and had my choice of dates and times. That was at about 30 days out. I just prefer to have ADRs so there is no stress. We can always cancel. Have fun! We love going in January!

Last year (1/19/07-1/26/07) we had ZERO ADRs when we got there. We were able to make all of our ADRs the night before. The only one we had trouble with was WCC, but we waited until the same day to make those and we were only able to get a 9:30 dinner ressie. This year (1/25/08-2/1/08) we made a FEW ADRs ahead of time and are hoping for the same luck again. We also have a couple going with us this year that went last Jan and had the same luck. I have a trip 1/17-22 and I will tell you that many of the most popular restaurants are booked up so I would start looking into some ASAP. I had to make some last minute changes and found some availability but I would not wait until you get there.

I'll be there the same time as Slaak. I was not able to get an ADR for LeCellier, and had to take dining times that weren't my preference when booking Chef Mickeys and the Princess Dinner in Norway when I tried to book in October. I have done some switching around of ADRs, but still haven't gotten LeCellier.

I just booked my ADR yesterday for my trip at the end of January. I'm glad I did. I was able to get the times I prefer.
