Since DLR implemented the latest dining reservation system with cancellation charges, I have not used it.

The policy says "1 day cancellation policy. $10 per person will be charged..."

At first glance this sounds like 24 hours before the actual reservation time. Does anyone here know more specifically what the "1 day" means?

I cancelled a meal on my trip last night at 10pm the evening before my carnation cafe breakfast ressie. We were not charged.

It was nice to also be able to do it on my phone (using the non-mobile version of the site)

According to Disneyland.com, you have to cancel by 11:59 pm the day before (i.e., if you reservation is on Tuesday, you have to cancel by 11:59 pm on Monday).

Why is a credit card required to make a dining reservation?
We require your credit card to make a dining reservation and use it as a place holder.
Your credit card won't be charged before you dine with us unless you either don't show up for your reservation or cancel it after 11:59 PM Pacific Time on the day before your arrival. So, we encourage you to keep your reservation and enjoy your dining experience with us!

Just a note about my attempt to get a Blue Bayou res...

I have been really busy the last couple weeks and just had time to get to reservations today. I have a somewhat large group of six which is usally a small challenge at BB. I like to get 11:30AM reservations as past experience shows there are only two waterside tables for 6 and arriving at 11:30AM has always allowed us to secure one of those.

Today I tried to get a res 7 1/2 weeks before the trip for the above and they did not have any. The earliest was 11:50AM. I decided to take it and risk a non-waterside this time.

Next trip you can bet I will be on the dining res reservations online at the exact 60 day (2 month) point.

They must have changed, in the past, they did not allow you to specify a waterside table at the time of reservation...you made that request when you checked in to your reservation the day of.

Nothing has changed. I did not book a waterside table. I just know from experience that the chances of getting a waterside table with a group of 6 is enhanced when I book at 11:30AM. In fact I have always gotten one of the two waterside tables that seat 6 when I book for 11:30. I just tell the CM at check-in I want waterside.

Nice to hear that you will be eating at the BB restaurant for your upcoming trip and hope that you are able to get a waterside table.

Great information HydroGuy. I made a reservation at the BB a couple of days ago for my June trip later this month and I was able to get an 11:30am reservation time. After reading your posts that we have to get to the BB a little early so we can get one of the waterside tables.

Did you call? I couldn't get a ressie at cafe Orleans for any earlier than 2 online. I called and had no problem getting an 11:30.

We ate at BB on Thanksgiving Day last year and I made my ressies at exactly 60 days out, EARLY in the morning. Because we were a party of 7, the earliest I could get was 11:50. I checked in as soon as I saw somebody out there (11:15 or so) and asked if there was anyway to get a waterside table -since one of the parties of 6 had not checked in at 11:30 and I agreed the little one could go in a high chair, they gave us the table. Might be worth asking when you get there :)

This upcoming trip, I booked at about 55 days out and ended up with the most random times available. I took what I could get!

Thanks. I was thinking of showing up at 11:15 for the reasons you outlined and think I will stick with that!

So if we are a family of 8, water side is 6 top, does that mean we have no chance of waterside with our party size? Thanks!

I don't know if you have "no chance", but whenever I've been there at 11:30 am, parties of larger than six were seated at a large table in the second row from the water.

Ah okay! Thanks for clarifying. Yes, even adding the twenty minutes on in your case will make a difference.

Thanks Bret. Hope you have a great trip. See you at the D23 Expo next year?

Thanks HydroGuy. :) I will be there again at the D23 Expo next year and it won't be to long until the D23 Expo tickets are on sale in August.

At WDW it's a 24 hour cancellation policy, but one way I managed to get around it (with the help of a CM actually) was to CHANGE the reservation to more than 24 hours away, and then cancel that one.
