DD9, DM, and myself made a quick trip to DLR on Friday. Picked DD up a little early from school. Entered DL about 4 p.m. Park was pretty crowded so we cross over pretty quickly to DCA. I stopped at the phone outside Guest Services to make a PS for Wine Country Trattoria for dinner. Took about 10-15 min. on the phone-was on hold for quite a while.

I made a PS for party of 3, 6:40, celebrating DD9's making the honor role with straight A's again :cloud9: (I thought of it being a celebration after the CM on the phone asked me if we were celebrating anything.) DD had gotten her medal for her 4.0 just that a.m.at school

After making the PS we went to ToT and grabbed a FP for later and then went over to Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. DD played for about 30-40 min. and I realized that by the time our PS time came, it was going to be pretty cold on the WCT patio. We decided to head over there early to see if we could be seated any earlier.

When we arrived there were quite a few guests waiting to be seated. I waited in a small line to check in and checked in about 40 min. early (way more than the 10 min. they recommend! :rotfl2: ) Since I had just made the PS about an hour or so before the CM didn't have a paper print out but it was in the system. She gave us a pager and I told my DM and DD that we would have some time so we could check out Blue Sky Cellar and show DM what was being planned for DCA. We were only in there about 5 min, or less, and the pager went off. :goodvibes

We were shown to our table on the outside edge of the patio and the hostess mentioned "I see your celebrating something special today" That was the extent of the "Celebration". It wasn't mentioned any more. :confused3 ( I wonder why they ask if all they are going to do is mention it when they seat you?? )

Our server, Scott, came up to us quickly and asked us if we wanted to order something to drink. We told him we were ready to order our food as well. DD9 wanted to have the kid's pasta with chicken but she had me ask if she could have the alfredo sauce (I checked and they had it on the adult's lasagna) instead. Her favorite meal at DLR is the Chicken Fusilli at Pizza Port. I asked Scott and he said no problem.:goodvibes She also ordered an ice tea. My DM and I shared the Pizzeta Salad, which was my main reason for wanting to eat there. I absolutely love that salad and since it's big enough to share I hate to get it when it's just DD and myself. I asked for the olives on the side since DM loves them but I don't. We splurged and both ordered hot tea ($2.69) since it was starting to get cold. He asked us what flavor we wanted-DM picked Apple Cinammon and I picked English Breakfast (I'm not a big tea gourmet-my favorite is Orange Pekoe-your basic Lipton :rotfl2: )

Pizzeta Salad* - Romaine hearts, Roma tomatoes, smoked bacon, crumbled blue cheese, Kalamata olives with a creamy Italian dressing served on a warm pizzeta crust $9.99

I asked Scott if we could also get some plain butter when he brought the breadsticks since I don't really like the sun dried tomato spread they normally bring. No problem.

He returned quickly with our teabags (1 each), tea pots, DD's drink and breadsticks with both butters. At first he brought me Mint Tea so he had to go back to the kitchen to get teh English Tea. No biggie.

Plain butter-very cold. In the past I have had is sit in the sun to soften but the sun was already gone so I put my teapot on top of it for a few minutes. Breadsticks with sun dried tomato spread.

Regarding the breadsticks-I like them but I would love them if they were warm. I just don't get cold breadsticks??? It's really my only complaint with WCT.

About 2 minutes later our entrees arrived. I was surprised at how fast they came out. The restaurant was full.

I love the coldness of the salad on top of the warm pizza bread. It's very good. :lovestruc

DD's pasta

DD's pasta had a huge piece of chicken on it and it looked like whole wheat pasta. DD said it was good but a little bland (she's such a gourmet! :rotfl2: ). After she salted it she said it was a little better. Also, she said the sauce was a little thin, could have been thicker. It was served with a side of sliced apples.

It was really starting to cool down so we actually ate with our gloves on. We are such Southern Californians! Scott stopped by to see how things were going and said they must have been really bored in the kitchen since they got our food out so quickly. :)

We finished eating and then it took a few minutes to flag Scott down to get more hot water. When he brought the water back my DM said her's had only about an inch in it. I put it in my pot (which was only about 1/2 full) and asked Scott for more water. He quickly returned with more water though it was still only about 1/2 full. They are nice sized tea pots but we wondered why they don't fill them more? Maybe they're worried they'll spill out the spout while walking? I really like it when restaurants bring you your tea cup and tea pot filled with hot water. It just makes so much sense.

Scott brought the bill and I asked if they were still giving AA discount? They were. ;) I think it's the same as AP discount. The bill, with tip, was $28. A nice meal, at a decent price. As we were seating on the patio, enjoying the approaching twlight, I mentioned to my DM that 1,000's of people travel 1,000's of miles to do what we were doing. :cloud9:

WCT continues to be one of my favorites. For the food and atmostphere. :cloud9:

Wow, that salad looks delicious! I might have to try that next time.

Love the review! That salad does look tasty...I'm amused that your DD thought to salt her pasta (I've never done that in my life!). The food sounds delicious too. As I was reading I was surprised that they offered apple cinnamon tea and I was wondering if they had mint tea too, so I was very amused that you were given mint tea. I'm sorry for your inconvenience, but I guess that answered my question. :rotfl:

Acutally I suggested to her to try a little salt-she usually likes her food with very little, or no salt. It's why she doesn't like to get popcorn at the movies-she says it's too salty! :rotfl: They offered the Apple Cinammon, Mint, Earl Grey, and English Breakfast. I think that was it though there may have been one or two more.

Thanks for your post! That salad looks wonderful! I think you've convinced me to try one on our trip. Not having been to Disney or WCT before, would you suggest eating on the patio versus indoors in May? Is there any shade? I have a PS for lunch there but perhaps we should make a dinner PS and sit outside.

Haha at your DD's pasta. Was there supposed to be a garnish on it?

I'm glad you posted this, I was wondering about eating there on my next trip.

Thanks for the report on the Wine Country Trattoria. My DH and I have PS there on our upcoming trip. That salad looks yummy.

If it's a nice day the patio is wonderful! There are plenty of umbrellas, basically one for each table. It's nice to be able to see along the outside edge and people watch. Depending on your timing, you may also see a parade go by. The do have indoor seating, not alot though. Personally I don't like the inside as much. Actually I remember one time when we sat inside and our table was right by the door and it was freezing cold inside.

So if the weather is nice, seat outside.

No. It does look pretty plain. But as I remeber it, the one with marinara sauce looked better and I think the chicken was sliced.

mmmmmmmmm that looks good!!!! I bet DD9 would share that salad with me. :) Hmmmmm, we've never eaten there, considering it now for our May visit. :)

Thanks Dizneydaz for giving me specifics on the patio seating! When I made a PS for WCT and asked the CM if there was shade, she told me no. I'm glad I have the DISboard to get clarification!:) By the way, can you see the Pixar Parade from the WCT patio?

We ate there on the Disboard Girls Only Trip..and shared a bottle of the sparkling Italian wine called Magicale`. It is very delicious and i want to say it was $45 a bottle.. and like $12 a glass.

You're right..we talked about why was were the breadsticks served cold?:confused3

The orange sorbet is sooooooOOOooo good...it's nicely tart and beautifully presented.:thumbsup2

Hmmm, so as I was eating my salad at lunch today and pulling out all the yucky lettuce I asked myself a very important question. Many times when I get salads out I end up taking out a lot of the lettuce, see I'm very picky about my lettuce and don't like eating the vein in the middle......so, OP, with your pizzetta salad were there lots of "veins" in your salad or was it mostly leaves? It seems like I see a lot of veins in the photo......LOL I know, I know, it's a really pathetic question but I'm so darn picky that I had to ask.....just call me a lettuce *****. LOL

Yes, if you have a seat on the outer edge of the patio you will see the parade as it goes by.

Thank you for the review. It all looked delicious! :thumbsup2

It's definitely on my list of "must eat" restaurants.

I still have yet to try the lobster nachos at Cove Bar - those always look good too.

No-the lettuce was all good.:goodvibes It was romaine. Alot of leafy pieces. I know how you feel about "bad" lettuce. I'm always picking out the pieces that are starting to brown(rust colored on the edges.) Usually I find romaine leaves are pretty good, it's iceberg that I have more trouble with. I didn't really notice alot of veins, but then I wasn't looking for them. There were alot of pieces with the rib parts though, if that's what you mean.

You could probably substitute the type of lettuce. We did that awhile back when my DSis's got a salad made with field greens and they really didn't like the greens. I think we got romaine instead. (not sure if they have iceberg.)

Thanks, I prefer romaine myself. :) It did look like it had a lot of leaves but you never know. :) I can't eat brown or wilty lettuce either, and iceberg is the worst for that, at home we rarely eat anything other than butter or romaine mixed with spinach.
