Dining Plan

I have been looking for the "rules" on the dining plan, I have found some answers, but I am confused, (happens very easily), to take advantage of the dining plan do you have to have a room and tickets booked through Disney? I already have my tickets (got them at AAA earlier this month) for my 2006 trip. We want to stay at FW campsite so I will be booking that in July, can I add a dining package?
Can someone tell me where to find more in depth info. I have only found lists of the approved restaurants and what the exchanges are. Thanks!!!

You can only add the dining plan onto a package of hotel & MYW tickets. But here's a great review/description: Unofficial Guide MYW Dining and here's the official Disney World MYW Dining brochure.

Thanks, I haven't picked up my 2005 version of th Unofficial Guide (waiting for the reprint) and I let someone borrow my 2004 so I have been using my 2002 version, needless to say that hasn't been very helpful. Thanks for the website. It's to bad I couldn't sign up for the plan, guess thats the way it goes.

I know that you are limited to participating locations with the Dining Plan, but does anybody know if you can order anything on the menu or are you limited to certain items? I thought I read in another message board that you there were only certain selections that could be ordered.

We bought the plan for our annual April trip, and there are no limitations to the menu items for the listed restaurants. Your choice on any listed appetizer, entree, AND dessert. It really is a great deal!
