Do I have to buy my park tickets with my hotel reservations in order to be allowed to get on the Dining Plan?? We will be staying at AoA, but we are military so we will be getting those park passes. We plan to do a lot of character meals so it would save us money to be on the plan!

Military is one of the lucky groups that gets to do this without a package as long as you stay at a Disney resort, which you are. Simply call Disney and request to add the DDP on your room only reservation. The cost of the DDP will be added to your total. BTW, there are room discounts available for the military that you can use too. Be sure to ask when you call.

You're technically not doing it without a package - it's a ticketless package. You're not adding DDP to a room only - you are rebooking as a ticketless package. This is important as your reservation becomes a package and is subject to the package rules for deposit, cancellation and payment.

Ticketless packages are available only to annual passholders and military. Sometimes to Disney cast members as well, but not all the time.
