If I got Disney park tix (or possible annual pass) at my local Disney Store for my family for Christmas, would I be able to book a dining plan with our room reservation, or do I have to book the tix with the room to be able to add dining?

TIA!

Tickets, no.

AP, yes. You would just have to book either AP Rate or Rack Rate (no other discounts or promotions) and then ask for an AP Ticketless package with Dining.

If you're going to have an annual pass you can book a ticketless package. However, those packages are not available based on a MYW ticket prepurchase, they're only for annual passes (or those qualifying for the military discount).

If you are booking a package to get dining, and you already have park tickets, then you will have to buy at least another 1 day ticket as a part of the package (2 days for free dining.) One way around this is to rent DVC points as adding a dining plan to a DVC reservation does not require a ticket purchase.

when you have AP and you book your room IF your buying dining then would be able to use discount on room BUT_____

IF say you have AP and there is a free dining promotion to obtain the FD with the AP then would need to buy a two day base ticket to receive FD

you can only use one discount at a time so either room or FD...

and yes having the AP and having to buy a two day base ticket for each person to get the FD is why we gave up the AP this year. plus discounts same with or without a AP on rooms

Ahh...Got it! Im not so much looking for a discount (though will be happy to get one!!) as I am to buy the tix as a Christmas gift and pay for the room/dining separately. I just want to make sure I can still purchase a dining package even though I dont buy tickets as part of my reservation.

But now Im curious about the DVC! There are 6 of us going, and I thought I would have to get 2 rooms. Ill have to start reading all about DVC renting points now!

Thanks for all of your answers!!

Jumping on to ask a related question.

If you are DVC and have an AP but are staying at a non dvc resort, I understand that you can book a ticketless pkg, but do we still get the regular ddp rate if staying at a peak time? Or do we have to be staying at a DVC resort to take advantage of that?
