I'm a little confused. Someone told me that after the trip is over I will get charged 18% service fee based on the total amount I spend on the food/alcohol ordered through the dining plan. It does not specify that anywhere on the Disney reservation website. That did not happen to me in the past, but Disney being Disney may have changed the rules so they could get even a little more money out of me. This may make my yay or nay decision on the dining plan. Thanks!

They will not automatically charge you 18%, but the gratuity is not included in the dining plan. It’s up to you to do that on your own.

Definitely not any kind of service charge at the END of your trip.

However, if your table is 6 people or more, you will have an automatic 18% gratuity added to your bill at the time you dine. If you're charging to your room, then I guess it could look like an added charge, but it's there at the time you dine. So if you have 6 or more and you're charging to your room and you don't want to tip twice, don't tip at the table.

If you have 5 or less people, there is no automatic gratuity, and it is up to you to decide how much you want to tip and whether you put cash on the table or charge to your room or credit card with the tip added into the total amount.

Thanks sharonabe! My memory may be failing me...pretty sure that's the case...don't remember tips not included in 2007. I sure hope I did not stiff all of my servers! 😳 The world will never know..

Yes, I forgot to add that part.

Back then the dining plans included tip and an appetizer. Both were removed. It was also less then $40 a night. Feeling nostalgic.::MickeyMo

And a bit ripped off too! I do feel better knowing it was not my imagination and I did not stiff my waiters...
