Dining Plan = NOT too much food

I just came back from my solo trip yesterday and I have to say that I did not find that there was too much food on the dining plan.

Maybe I'm just a big eater or maybe I'm not a snacker but I had just enough.
I used my counter service meal for breakfast each day, and used my snack credit mid-day and had my table service each night for dinner.

I suppose if I had been eating a lot of candy and snacks through out the day I might have been not hungry enough for dinner, but I pretty much only used my one snack credit during the day.

I found all of my table service meals to be a good value (against what the dining plan cost), and if you didn't feel like ordering an appetizer or dessert, it was still a good value for your dollar!!

Just my 2 cents!

I think sometimes people get into the habit of having a late lunch and then dinner at their "regular" time and the meals are simply too close together.

Hope you had a great time!

Bingo! I think you've got it. It isn't the "plan" that is too much food, but rather the timing choices people make with it.

The CS breakfast, S, TS dinner/supper plan seems to work well. In fact, that was how it worked with us when we followed that pattern on our last visit.

I agree! Last year DD had a CS meal for breakfast then we shared a CS for lunch and then happily we had enough room for dinner. We bought water as our snacks and didn`t bother with anything extra. I thought it worked out really well :thumbsup2

We used the same plan in March. We used the counter service every morning for breakfast, used our snack at the park (but usually just used it for one bottle of water and an ice cream which we would share) and have an early dinner. It worked perfectly for us. In fact by the end of the trip we had a few counter service meals left over!

I found it to be too much food only because of the desserts! I don't eat dessert so we always gave our desserts away. And we ended up with extra snack credits the last day. But, I planned on using my snack credits to buy drinks. Well the water we got with lunch always lasted until dinner...so we never bought another water. And I had brought those 100 calorie snack packs with us since I had anticipated using the snack credits for drinks. SO if I really wanted a snack- I ate one of those. Hence the "too much" food on the plan :)

We tried to eat our snack for breakfast, lunch at 11, and dinner at normal time. It worked out. When we ran into trouble on too big of potions, it was usually because we ate lunch late.

It really all hinges on planning, I agree! We really didnt' feel it was too mcuh food either. It fit the way we eat on vacation perfectly! Can't wait to use the paln again next summer!

I was always embarassed because I didn't think it was too much food. We would eat a pastry in the room for breakfast, an early CS lunch, and a later TS dinner. It worked out real well for us. We ended up having quite a few snacks left over because we didn't eat between meals.

So true, 'lunchtime' was about 11:00 for us on DDP. (we aren't big breakfast people) By the time our 6:00ish ADRs came around, we were ready to EAT!

I didn't think so either. We generally had a late CS breakfast and then dinner at the normal time. Sometimes we had dessert, sometimes we didn't. I think two days we did have three full meals but saved our CS desserts for another time.

Not too much here. No snacks here except for one ice cream sandwich (for me, dd had a few popsicles). We used all our snack credits on the oodles of water we needed to drink to keep from passing out in the heat.

I think you are correct! Everyone eats very different, so what is too much for one may not be enough for another;) Our last trip, we found it to be just perfect! You just do have to make sure that you do not use your CS and TS to close together!

We found that the "too much food" occurred at TS meals, where we could not handle appetizer, entree, and dessert all in one sitting - especially since we all wanted different things. Sharing would have solved that issue for us, but it's not the way we dine, I guess.

We actually ran out of CS credits and had snack credits left over (but bought a bunch of Mickey rice krispy treats on our way out), again because of our eating habits. The kids preferred a regular breakfast to a snack, and then wanted another CS meal for lunch or supper. Again, no sharing as no one could agree on a single item to share.

Even if we had paid for the DDP, we would have saved a huge amount of money. I would definitely use the plan again, while budgeting for a few extra CS meals to adapt to my family's preferences and habits. Too much food? Not really.

We had too much food...and we even had a 2 year old that obviously didn't have credits and shared our meals.

When we left, we still had quite a few credits left...

This year I'm trying to do things a bit differently so that we use all the credits. It's not going to be easy though as this year we will have credits for DD3!

I only found it *a lot* because of the fact that I normally NEVER get dessert with my lunch or dinner, I rarely get an appetizer with my meal and if I do it is shared and not just mine....Also I don't *snack* during the day so a rice crispie treat or an ice cream kicked my butt by days end...
This time around I plan on using my snack credit for breakfast for a pastry, CS for lunch and my TS for dinner...no snacks and I will bypass dessert @ lunch also. I just can't stuff myself like that.
