With the Quick Service dining plan, you will primarily eat burgers and fries, and other typical fast food items. But there are a few hidden gems. Ill start.

At some of the resorts with food courts (riverside, Movies, etc.) there is a roast turkey. It is SO good! And, you get a full meal basicly. A good sized portion of turkey, and i belive 4 sides.

Anyone else got anyting?

Here's a couple of our favorites... Cosmic Ray's in Magic Kingdom, 1/2 rib 1/2 chicken combo

In Downtown Disney Wolfgang puck, you order and then sit at a table and they'll bring it to you.. great food!:goodvibes

Pop Century has Mom's dinner everynight - I've seen the turkey dinner, fried chicken and I want to say meatloaf but I'm not sure if I'm remembering correctly.

Coronado Springs - Pepper Market - lots of non-typical "fast food"

Wolfgangs Express - fancy pizza's, pasta, salads, fancy sandwiches

I'm pretty sure that the "fast food" Irish place in DTD is on the dinning plan - fried scallops, fish and chips, savory pies - and FRIED candy bars :worship:

In Epcot - seasons has lots of fresh health choices, I love the fish and chips in the UK

That's all I can think of for now.

Morocco's CS place is Tangierine Cafe. They have terrific platters- lamb, beef, couscous, hummus. Yummm.

Cheese Plate and baguette in Boulangerie Patisserie (bakery in France).

In AK- Flame Tree BBQ has either the ribs or chicken meals (excellent) or a BBQ chicken salad or a wonderful fruit plate if it's too blazing hot out to eat hot foods.

Earl of Sandwich is another good choice for avoiding burgers and fries.

I can honestly say I don't think I've ever had a burger and fries at WDW in over 22 trips! There's no reason not to eat well on vacation. :thumbsup2

My hidden gem is Staring Rolls @ DHS...you get a huge sandwich on this delicious foccacia bread, chips, drink (fountain or bottled), and dessert out of the pastry case -- I swear the cupcakes weigh at least a pound! Their hours are a bit limited, but to me it's the only decent counter service at DHS.

AKL had some really good and unusually things in Mara the food court plus Zebra domes for dessert. YUM

When my family is in animal kingdom, flame tree bbq is usually the lunch spot. The ribs are actually pretty good.

I was really impressed with Starring Rolls too. I had the turkey sandwhich and another time the ham, both were really fresh and delicious, very nice size too. Not a skimpy sandwhich at all. Very good dessert too. Love Starring Rolls.

MK: Colombia Harbour House -> Tuna Sandwich
AK: Pizzafari -> Italian Sandwich
Epcot: Sunshine Terrace -> Salmon dish.

Ditto to that! What a great meal for CS! Better than some TS meals.

So is SR. a disny version of a HQ subway basicly?

Not really -- the sandwiches are already made up in this huge "bread ring" that the they sell in slices...so you can't really customize them too much. If you're a picky eater or have certain food allergies it may be a problem.

I agree with Earl of Sandwich! I love that place!

Loved Earl of Sandwich! Also also a fan of Flame Tree at AK and the smaller restaurant in Norwy I believe. They had most excellent sandwiches and soups! Never even knew they served that type of food since it mostly has pastries and drinks. That was a hidden gem our last trip! Also Staring Rolls looked great. I bought my son an apple juice in there and the food looked tastey:)

Cosmic Rays is at MK is also good and fun. The animatronic SunnyRay used to scare my DD to death for some reason!

I missed Mcdonalds fry station not being there! My kids were asking fir fries at Epcit and DHS and I had to tell them they were not there anymore:(

This is a great thread! I hope to get some other great ideas for our next trip. We usually do the table service DP but with the kids being so picky I think CS might be better for us next time. TS can be too time consuming as well and the food is good if not great at the CS stations.

Just want to second a lot of what has been mentioned:

  • Earl of Sandwich is great - huge selection of sandwiches (and decent prices if you happen to be paying OOP).
  • Wolfgang Puck Express at DTD is almost a TS - you order at the counter but they bring you your food
  • Pizzafari is my new fave at AK (since Tusker House converted to TS) - the Italian Sandwich is delish!
  • Love the choices at The Mara at AKL! Who can argue with zebra domes as a dessert choice??

I've found most of the resort CS places have non-burger/fry options.

I love talking Disney food!

Oh, forgot to mention the Anchors Aweigh tuna sandwich at Columbia Harbor House is huge and delicious!

Don't forget for breakfast at a resorts cafe, using the plans qs, but you don't have to get meals, you can get muffins and such using it as a qs. I forget the details, anyone remember? I dont mean using snacks, I forget how we did it last time.

One of our favs is now Yakitori House-Japan in Epcot. They are so friendly and there is seating inside and outside in the beautiful garden. Prices are good if not on dining plan and plenty of food. Easy to share. They sell Kirin beer, Sake and Plum wine too. Great place to escape the heat even if you have to sit outside.:thumbsup2

Try POFQ food court for dinner - they have chicken, ribs, pot roast, and more. You can then walk down to the river and take the boat ride to DTD, or just go for a walk through the grounds.

Some new and old favorites of ours are:

In MK we tried CHH for the first time. The tuna sandwich was incredible. The bread made the sandwich and I dont really "love" tuna but it was that good.

In Epcot we either get the fish and chip basket or go to Tangerine Cafe and have the Chicken and Lamb platter. Our third choice would be sunshine seasons they have chicken, pork chops, salads, sandwiches, and amazing desserts.

We have yet to eat a meal at DHS other than Pizza planet but we like it well enough.

At AK I like the Yak and Yeti CS place. You get huge portions and it is standard chinese fare you could get anywhere but a nice change of pace.

At DTD we love Wolfgang pucks and Earl of Sandwich. We took sandwiches for our trip home last time and they were amazing.

For breakfast we walked over to Captain Cooks at the Poly one morning because you can get the Tonga toast over there as CS. So lots of good choices for us last time!!
