Has any FL residents used the dining plan with thier resort stay. It is my understanding to get the dining plan you need to pay the rack rate. For those that have stayed at a value resort when there was a great FL resident special, like there is now ($64 a night). What did you do??

I'm getting the DDE card instead. You'll save 20% at many places.
When staying at a Value resort you even get to save 20% at their food courts. Gotta love it.

I too am a Florida resident. When I added up the savings I get from the FL Res room rate and the discounted tickets, the dining plan really didn't seem worth the added expenses of paying rack rates and full price tickets especially after reading the reviews of how much food there is to eat with the dining plan. Our family usually splits meals and the appetizers, meals, dessert, etc just seems like a lot.

We are going in the middle of Dec and our budget will look like this:

3 nights ASSP $72.00 per night (with tax) = $216
FL Res MYW 3 Day Play Ticket (4 Adults - DS16, DD10) = $480

Room and tickets = $696

Yeah I forgot to mention the fact you can't take advantage of the discoutned tickets also. It seems that they would want to offer some type of all inclusive (MYWAY packages) discounted for FL residents. All you non-FL residents probably think I am being greddy, well your right. :)

Well to get around the ticket thing you are only required to add a one day ticket for each memebr of your party to get the Dining Plan for your stay. (MYWAY plus Dining package)You could then purchase the FL Res tickets for the rest of your days.

However, with the great discounts we do get as FL Residents I think you could eat one CS meal, one TS meal and a snack out of pocket and come out a lot cheaper (esp if your family splits meals like mine does). PLUS like another poster said, we do have the DDE Card available to us. From my calculations, once you spend $350.00 in meals, etc the card pays for itself. Sooooooo............if you go over to Disney quite often through the year (like we do) it can be a real benefit. :flower:

I'll 2nd (or 3rd) that it comesout cheaper to use the FL res discount with the DDE. I did the math for our trip in Aug and it just made more sense to take the discounts instead of the dining plan. Besides, when we go, we hardly ever have snacks or CS meals since we like the TS better and use it as a rest time too.
