dining plan for DVC?

Not trying to hijack, but have a question. Since the DP is independent of park tix, can you purchase 3 days for a 7 day stay if you only think you will do three days of meals? For example, I check in on the 18th and stay through the 24th. If I buy 3 days of dining plan, is it only good until midnight of the 3rd day after my first use, or is it good until my checkout date? Or do I have to buy enough dining plan for my entire stay? I know the answer is here somewhere, but I am not google saavy enough to find it

If the 7 days are all at the same resort, you can't book the DDP for just some of it (like the 3 days) you have to book it all. However, the CM I talked to today told me that if you have a split stay, like I have 3 nights at 1 resort, then 6nights at another, you can get the dining plan for the 3 nights at the first resort. However, I didn't ask him if the DDP is good until midnite of the day I check out of the first resort. Once he told me that the TS was for breakfast or lunch, that's when I stopped asking questions! And spiceycat, I wish he'd told me about the QS plan you mentioned.

Yes, the dining plan will only be good until midnight of the day you check out.

The problem with doing a split stay and only getting a few days of DDP is that you have to check out and you probably will have to move. You can't link the reservations. Otherwise, you get the dining plan for both stays.

Woo hoo! my first post

Did the DDp last July 7 of us for 9 days used all but a couple of qs and that included snacks for the flight home. We ate more than usual but loved it. Did a signature at Narcoosee's to help use up the points.

We've done DDP twice since we've been members and it's really starting to lose it's value. We are doing it again this summer, primarily for convenience and the fact that we have friends who are first timers joining us, but unless there are some changes made (to our benefit) I think are DDP days are drawing to a close. It's really not all the much of a discount anymore and with Garden Grocer, (no I'm NOT cooking on vacation, but we can eat out for dinner) if we keep breakfast, lunch food and snacks on hand and eat out at the more reasonably priced restaurants, we will pay the same or a bit less than the DDP. It's not a bad thing at all, but it has certainly lost it's value.

Welcome to Dis!!

Huh? The TS can be used for any meals. Looks like you'll have to do some more research on your own, and/or call and talk to another CM to get the full story.

Your TS meals can be B, L or Dinner.

the MS seem to think that everyone wants the old DDP - they don't mention the new ones either.

so that is the one you get unless you state that you want the QS or deluxe or platimum

The last I knew, we can't add the Platinum or Premium plans to a DVC reservation. Has that changed?

I think the Deluxe plan still offers good value but it's a lot of food. Works best for a shorter stay IMO and also works best if the meals can be stretched out...as in from breakfast of check-in day to dinner of check-out night.
