We looked over the adult menus with our DS 10, and he is NOT interested. :crazy2: Too many fancy pants sauces, in his humble opinion. Has anyone used the plan and tried to order off the kids menu for a child over 9? I can't imagine they won't let us, but then I also wonder if he will eat $38 worth of food... Many thanks for any thoughts on the topic!

Don't forget that the amount covers not only one table service but also one counter service and one snack per day. Also, all the Disney restaurants can be very accomodating by not putting on sauces.

We are in your boat for our upcoming trip and after much debate (and time pouring over the menus online and doing calculations) we finally decided to purchase the dining plan because we figure that for our family overall (me, dh, dd10 and ds7) we will at least break even and we will get to eat at several new places. dd10 always wants to go to CP and we decided to try H & V for the Fantasmic package, so we would be paying as an adult for her at these places regardless. We are planning dinners at a few places like Spoodles and Rose and Crown where kids meals are a little more expensive so that would help even if she ordered off the kids menu (in fact, at Spoodles it looked like two kids' steak dinners, with kids app and dessert, would pretty much cost what we would pay for the plan for dd and ds for the entire day once you add in tip, and we would still get the cs and snack). And at some places we are planning, like Sci Fi and Teppanyaki, she can get the adult burger or adult entree, eat what she can, and share with her brother if he wants to try some. We aren't planning to order food we aren't hungry for just because of the plan, and we are going to keep our receipts and figure out if it really does make sense so we'll know in the future, but we'll have fun this trip! Good luck, we probably spent way too much time making our decision but I am really looking forward to trying so many new places and not worrying about ordering whatever I want from the menu!

Yeah, what she said. :thumbsup2

We're going to try it. Although my DS12 is the less adventerous one, and my DD10 is more likely to like some of the more adult stuff, but will never eat that much food. We're just hoping to get our money's worth by trying more TS than we would without it and not having to worry about the prices on the menu.

We are in the same boat. My 10 year old DS basically lives off hamburgers, hot dogs, and pizza. He is not interested in any of the adult food on the menus. We also checked the menus and prices on allearsnet.com and figured even if he ordered off the kids menu all the time, at the very least we will break even.

Most people have not had any problems ordering off the kids menu for older kids. If he ordered off the kids menu you could pay for those OOP and save the credits.
