Dining Plan - Credits - I'm confused!!

Yes, there is a lot of bickering going on, isn't there - Funny when the site is based on such a magical place.

I haven't been to WDW since 1990. We were at Disneyland 2 yrs ago but went with family and didn't stay on site so none of the details were a necessity.

I did come to this site to learn as much as possible about things that I need to know before going on our trip - for resorts, attractions, restaurants etc. Things are always different when you've been somewhere - or at the end of a trip with a bunch of "Oh, if we would have known...." or "Next time......" I did want to go in as informed as possible.

With what I have stumbled upon re morality and bickering during my searching, I knew I was taking a bit of a risk asking about this, but again, just wanted to understand things better.

I want to thank you for all of your help and explanations - I'm feeling as though the loose cable in my brain is finally sending some info thru :-)

Thank you :-)

Your welcome :flower:

Please don't let all the bickering keep you away! There is alot of good information to be found. Just remember that you can do this  from the privacy of your own home ;)

Thanks - and whew! There are a lot of nasty's that would keep someone away - Fortunately for me, those who are more aggressive have no effect :-)

I don't know why people throw out nasty's to people who have done nothing but ask a question! Ah the mysteries of life :-)

And yes, we will have a great holiday - we are really looking forward to it.

The plan covers 1 TS and 1 CS /day. Assume you don't need any extra meals on the day you checkin/checkout. For example you checkin at 3 and use a TS for dinner that night and checkout at 11:00 and use a CS credit for lunch. Assume you either skip breakfast or eat in your room. Assume you don't go to any dinner shows or signature restaurants. Got all that. Then paying out of pocket doesn't make any sense. You have enough credits to pay for all your meals.

People pay out of pocket to "bank" meal credits. They use those extra credits for meals that require 2 credits, to purchase extra meals (breakfast or checkin/checkout day) or even to treat other family members or friends who aren't on the meal plan. If you know you won't have enough credits to cover your meals than it makes sense to pay out of pocket for your less expensive meals rather than just running out of credits and paying out of pocket for your last meals.

Another way of using your CS credits:

I plan on sharing some of my CS meals with my daughter (8, and who eats like a bird, but has sophisticated tastes -- she wouldn't go for nuggets or pb&j) -- maybe split sandwiches/salads,etc and buy her a drink.

I will use some of the "banked" CS credits to pick up a couple of breakfasts to bring back up to our room from the food cart -- we're pretty light breakfast eaters, and could definately share some waffles, etc.

Have a wonderful trip!
Wendy

I've read all official dining plan documents from Disney, including the updated 2006 MYW package page. I have not seen where they are changing the dining plan to not allow anyone in a party to use any of the TS credits when they want. Where is this rumour coming from?
