i just booked a vacation for my wife & kids for disney world way out in September. I included the dining plan because it always seems to be the best way to go. Last time we went, they offered a free dining plan for certain times. If they announce the free dining plan dates & that happens to fall on our vacation dates, would disney allow that for us, or is it "tough luck" for booking too early? Thanks in advance for any insight you could provide

You would be able to call and add the free dining promotion to your vacation, as long as there are still rooms available. Disney only has a certain number of rooms allotted for free dining so be sure to call ASAP when the promotion comes out. Even though you already have your room booked you may not get free dining if you wait and call weeks after the promotion goes live because of the room allotment. Hope this helps!

Yes, if you have a resort package with dining, you can change that to a Free Dining package if your start date is within the FD dates. But, FD has to have rooms available in the booking category or the resort you booked, or you'll have to modify the type of room booked, or which resort you booked. If your start date is before the FD offer, you'll have to book those dates separately (room-only is best choice) before your FD booking. However, if your booking extends beyond the FD dates, you will get FD beyond the dates of the FD program end date, up to a total of 14 FD dates on your FD reservation. Free Dining requires a minimum purchase of base 2-day tickets for each person on a reservation, as compared to paid dining, which requires base 1-day tickets for each person.
